Burned my Face
I signed a contract to begin microdermabrasion with American Laser. I did a few of them with the same lady. However, when the facility went under new management they hired new employees. Every time I would go in for my treatment there was a different person doing my procedure. One day I went in for a procedure, I had a blemish on my face and the lady took the liberty of applying some sort of acid on my face and performed a peeling without my consent. I thought she was applying some post procedure cream or something, when I felt the burning sensation, she said I just applied boric acid this might sting a little. Sting a little??? More like almost burned my face off. Who the hell told this lady she could do this? I called her back 3 to 4 times within the next few days to see if there was something I could apply to the burns she left on my face. I never got a call back from ANYONE in the office. I had to go in person for someone to help me. They said I could go to my personal dermatologist and they would reimburse me for my visits. I submitted my receipts months ago and have not yet received my reimbursement. Better yet I still have the burn marks on my face. It's been months and they have not gone away, it's probably a scar I will have to live with for the rest of my life and all because of this company and their incompetent staff and un-professionalism. Do NOT get anything done with these people!!! My next step is contacting a lawyer as they have ruined my face forever.

It all depends on which clinic you visit
I had been receiving treatment from American Laser Centers at the Chesterfield, Missouri location for almost two years. From time to time I've read online complaints about treatment not working, refunds not being issued, etc. and didn't really believe them because my experience has been so good (or at least it was before I moved away from Missouri). Seriously, the aestheticians and office manager are very nice, helpful, and professional at this clinic. Not only that, but I've seen awesome results (on my upper lip, arms, and legs) during the time I've been receiving treatment. It has taken almost two full years to see the results I wanted, but I am seeing them now. I never had a problem until I moved to Washington, DC and was trying to find the closest American Laser Centers so I could finish out my last few months of treatment. No sooner than the Chesterfield clinic transferred my records to the Rockville, Maryland Clinic, I received a strange email from the corporate office saying that my two-year guarantee has expired and I can receive no treatment at the Rockville Clinic unless I buy an additional package. I KNOW that I have two months of treatment left for one area and four months left for another, and I have the documentation to prove it. The problem is, no one from the Rockville clinic will hear me out, and no one from the corporate office will either. And on top of that, when I called the Chesterfield clinic to see if they could help in any way, the response I got was, "Why are you going to a clinic in Maryland? I thought you moved to Washington and I gave you the contact info for a clinic in Seattle." Wtf? I never thought I would write a complaint about American Laser Centers because my experience has been so good, but right now I'm getting cheated out of the last few months of my treatment and there's nothing I can do about it. Totally unethical.

Unprofessional/Poor Costomer Service
I have been treated very poorly since I signed a contract with an American Laser Center in my area. I have recieved two treatments so far and my first appointment went well but the second one was went completely different. The lady barely glanced at my file and turned the camera on to take pictures which I signed and agreed to not have done. Im now regretting my choice not to document photos after reading several complaints. She turned the machine off twice during the appointment thinking she had finished using the laser on the areas sheduled to be treated. After being questioned about whether she had read my file so said "I saw the information, I just forgot." She had forgetten three things that she claimed to have read. After questioning her knowledge of my information, she realized that the appointment would take longer since I was having two areas treated and she began to rush. While she was treating a highly sensitive area that gave me alot of pain and discomfort, she said "Come on!" and pulled my leg roughly to get to a different position. She used the laser less than half amount used during my first appointment, and I was in and out of the office in half the time even though I had gotten there early and was started 15 minutes ahead of schedule. I complined to the front desk and was apoligized to and was told that the lady that treated me would be talked to about the complaints.

A few days before my third appointment, which had been scheduled six weeks earlier before leaving my second treatment session, I recieved a call indicating that they had to cancel due to set-backs from a laser that wasnt working properly. I called to reschedule an they could not find a time to re-book. I had to call three times in seven days and was told each time that they could not fit me in. I complained since my canceled appointment had been booked so far in advance and in return I recieved an nasty attitude from the lady on the other end. Magically, a time that wasnt available a moment before was suddenly open for me.

Since this office has an issue with poor costomer service, lasers not working properly, overbooking appointments, and a lack of respect, professional conduct and patience during procedures, I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. In fact, I strongly discourage anyone from signing contracts with American Laser Centers and spending large amounts of money on packages that will fund this company.

Refund Issues
First, I wished I had read these complaints about ALC before signing my contract. Everything about the refund problems that others have had is happening to me right now. I purchased a $1500 facial package back in January 2011, cancelled the contract two days later, and here I am at the end of March and no refund. How these people can look in the mirror every day and not see THIEVES written across their chest...I don't understand. Or maybe they do see it...in the end there will only be ONE who will judge us. Well, lesson learned for me. Hopefully, our misfortunes will save others from becoming prey to these unscrupulous fiends.

Very bad customer service
I tried 3 different American Laser Centre locations and was really surprised at the varying degrees of customer service. After receiving a moderately good service at a location downtown on Madison Avenue, I transferred to 57th Street. And then due to the bad customer service there, I transfered to the Upper West side location. I have left UMPTEEN voicemails on their machine, and HAVE YET to receive even one single call back. Unbelievable for the amount of money they trick you into spending for a "package" deal. Once you're hooked after spending $thousands, they stop returning your calls. The most unprofessional service I've ever received.

Worst Company Ever
Where do I even begin. Lets just start by saying that this company is one of the most god awful companies out there. They claim to be the best in the business for laser hair rremoval, skin rejuvenation and cellulite reduction therapy! That is a joke! Its more like the worst company! None of there services work the way they say they do. I would say 10% out of all clinics patients actually have results. Its not worth the chance when you spend thousands on these procedures. And just know that if it doesnt work they will in no way give you a refund. They will just try to find every excuse in the book to justify why its not working and then try to sell you on something else. And they will do that because there only goal is to see how much money they can make each month. They do not care about your feelings or how much money you have already spent. They just care about trying to get more out of you. There company even holds contest to see who can sell the most.
Now on to the people that work there. The managers are not really managers or have any type of medical degree, they are just glorified sales people and people that are put under so much stress by there corporate office to sell that they will make up whatever little gimmic they want to try to get you to buy that day and tell you the deal is only good for that day and if you call back the next day the offer wont be good. Just know people that these people will take your money whenever they can get it.
Now onto the technicians. Im not trying to say they are bad people because most of them I have met have been extremely nice and wonderful. But the biggest thing is there qualifications. One of the biggest reasons the treatments do not work is because they are used on very cautious low settings because it is not being perfromed by a doctor or a nurse so there is a huge liability at stake. The technicians are only licensed estheticians who go to school for 4 months which actually has nothing to do with lasers and then if they get hired in with the company they train for about 1-2 weeks until they are already left alone with patients.
So this is just a letter to warn people the this whole company is a joke. They treat there employees like crap and there patients and it all comes down from the top people and 2 of them are Chelsea Klinke and Roxanne Kowelewski which are 2 of the most rotten women you can meet. They think they are better than everyone and treat all ALC staff like crap. Which I guess Roxanne is the Michigan regional manager and does not do anything to help her clinics. She just goes in there and sits and does nothing. She sometimes show up to a clinic leave and go shopping or out to lunch for a long period of time but then fires people for being late to work or leaving early which is funny cause she did it all the time as a clinic manager. And this is suppose to be a women that holds control of an entire region! HAHA
Oh and one more thing to add. ALC has a higher injury report than anyone facility that does laser! BEWARE PEOPLE THIS PLACE IS AWFUL IN EVERY WAY SHAPE AND FORM!

LIARS!
This place scammed me! They lied to me about a $1500.00
gift certificate. I called them right away and told them, "I don't think so!" I want to thank this website. Thank god I didn't fall for this. It was at a JLEC function at the Emerald Coast conference center. That was a scam too. I have been to JL functions in Memphis, TN. and they had a great show, this one was pitiful. It was called the Mistletoe Market

Deceptive
I signed a contract with American Laser Centers in Raleigh, NC in November 2007 and continued faithfully until April of 2010. I followed all protocol and received over something like 23 treatments. They tried stronger lasers, double passing, different intervals and strengths yet nothing worked and I still have all my hair. They even gave me a couple free treatments of the VelaShape so I could see in their words that their treatments worked. It did not work and Julie had pressed so hard on my sciatic nerve that I had horrible pain for the next year and spent money going to the doctor for relief.
Back to the laser hair removal, they did burn me a couple times on my thigh and chin but luckily no scarring. I really wish I had read reviews before spending $2, 471.58 plus more in creams, time, etc. I did not think to check because many years earlier I had received six treatments 6 weeks apart from a dermatologist, on my chin and stayed hair free for over 5 years. The hair grew back after I had my second child. After my divorce, I went to American laser and Erin promised me I would be hair free in no time. She was high-pressure sales and I signed up during my free consultation.
I complained after the first treatments that I saw no results and they said I needed to keep coming that sometimes it took longer but not to worry because if it did not produce results I would get at least a partial refund. I kept going even though I did not think it was working and was frustrated with their unprofessionalism. In one of my earlier treatments, the then manager actually took a phone conference while she was treating me. They would make you wait in excess of an hour for appointments; no one ever knew what was going on, sometimes treated with other people in the room being half-naked. I started making my appointments first thing in the morning because even though they were late opening I would not wait an hour. One time I arrived for an appointment (they even wrote it on the card for me) and they “must not have saved it.” I was sent away and had to wait several weeks for another appointment. One technician would treat me with a certain level and the next one would tell me “Oh she shouldn’t have treated you with this it is not right for your skin type!”
I kept going because they said I had to have so many treatments at high levels or something. I sometimes would go without shaving so they could see the hair. They would take pictures and say they were documenting it for medical. After all this time wasted, I have one tiny spot on chin and I mean tiny that hair does not seem to grow from. The rest of the chin, lip, underarms, bikini, navel, and inside of thighs is just as hairy and grows just as fast. I shave my chin, lip every morning, and by five o’clock, you can feel the stubbles!
I spoke with Julie on or around May 8, 2010 and she said that she would give me another six months of treatment. I told Julie that I was fed up and it obviously was not working. I canceled my appointment for the 10th and said I wanted to start the refund process. I was a little delayed but finally brought her a disk filled with photos of the areas showing hair growth after one day, two days and so on. She said “couldn’t I just email them, she didn’t know what to do with the disk, ” and I replied that I wanted them to see the full poor results and emailing pictures would be foolish. I heard nothing from her until I emailed her at the end of September inquiring into the status. Her reply was “I will have an answer from medical for you by the end of the 2nd week in October. Please call or email me if you have any questions before.” I emailed her again on October 15th and October 26th inquiring to the status. She responded on October 26th stating, “It is still being reviewed, I will know Thursday or Friday of this week. I will call you.”
No phone call has been received and based on the reviews I will probably never hear from them! I plan to join the class action suit and will contact the BBB.
Why do they say they are reviewing it for a refund if they have no intention? Just the pure communication from their agents should be contractual. This company should be put out of business. They engage in deceptive practices encouraging you to keep being treated so your two years expires! I really wish I could have kissed my razor goodbye!

lied to us
This company heavily misled me when I first signed up for lip/chin hair removal. They told me it would be 6 months but they give a 2 year guarantee incase it would take longer to remove all the hair. Next month (Nov. 2010) it will be 3 years I have been going to this place. Once a month. It's written all over their paperwork to cover their legal behinds, but the sales pitch to get a new customer totally makes you believe that all hair will be removed and, for most people, within the 6 month period. I have 3 more treatments and, even though they are willing to extend it complimentary, I am done.

They can be legally 'right'. But I will never, ever, ever recommend these people for services. What a joke! I kept thinking, why is it a different person every month I come in for treatment. I thought perhaps people were getting fired left and right. I would bet that people were quitting because they saw what a sham this place is. I kept thinking, what am I doing wrong... man I must have some very stubborn hair, or maybe brown hair is too hard to remove. I have been out of the sun for 3 fricken years following their stupid guidelines. Here's the deal- there was NOTHING wrong with me or my hair. There is EVERYTHING wrong with how they mislead us, lied to us, misrepresented their product and what it can do for us.

If they are such a great company, why are there 8+ pages in this Complaints Board website listing multiple complaints, which say the same thing over and over and over again, in state after state after state. They need to be removed from this industry. Someone is getting rich by misleading all of us, not delivering, forgetting about the millions of unhappy, unfulfilled customers and just moving on to the next vict... client.

Refund Issue
Over two months ago American Laser Center called me to tell me I had "won" a package in a drawing. After agreeing to pay over a thousand dollars to claim this package they took my credit card number over the phone. I was told that my transaction wouldn't be complete without signing a contract. The next day my husband had to be rushed to the hospital and we knew medical bills would be astronomical. I canceled within 24 hours. I had already been charged though I never even signed a contract! I was told that my refund could take up to 6 weeks. I called ALC from time to time to check the status of my refund. Over 6 weeks later, after being assured that I was in the system time and time again, I finally called corporate. Corporate informed me that I wasn't in the system for a refund at all. No one who can actually give me the refund will speak with me, instead I am always forwarded to the same customer service rep. I can't even get in touch with her manager. DO NOT give American Laser Center your money no matter how good the "free package" may sound.
