Unauthorized billing!
I have had similar experiences with ALC that are reported on this site. I 'won' a $300 discount. I was pressured to sign up the day I went in for a consultation. When I went home and discussed the price with my husband, we decided it was not something we could afford, so I called to cancel before I received any treatments and was told it was too late, I had already signed a contract and there was no refunds!
My most recent problems with this company started Jan. '08. I called 4 times in the beginning of Jan. to schedule an appointment, they never answer the phone it always goes directly to voice mail. I left 4 messages, on the 4th message I indicated I was upset and wanted someone to call me back. They finally called me back and we scheduled an appointment for Feb. 8th. On Feb. 7th at 5:26pm. they called me to cancel the appointment due to 'modifications' they were having. They said they would call back to reschedule. They never did. I called on Feb. 9th and 11th and left messages. They called me back on Feb. 12th and rescheduled me for Feb. 17th at their north location which was a location I had never been to. They gave me vague directions, but no address. I thought the address would be on their website, but it was not. So I called back to get the address of the north location, and left a message. They called me back and got my voice mail and said 'Sorry we missed you please try us again'. Why they could not leave the address on my voice mail is beyond me. So I called again, left another message. They called me back gave me the address. On Feb. 17th I went to the north location and waited 20 minutes in the lobby, finally the girl said she did not have me scheduled at that office. She said perhaps I was scheduled at another office. So I left, called the office that had made my appointment and they said yes, I was scheduled at their office not the north location!!! So now it is Feb. 19th and still no appointment. Whenever you call their offices, they NEVER answer the phone, their voice mail says this is due to a high volume of calls. I've called at every hour of the day, and I never get through, how can they have such high volume of calls at every hour of the day??? How come it takes so much effort on my end and so many phone calls just to schedule an appointment!!! I feel they are avoiding me. I of course have already prepaid!! They got my money, why bother helping me now??!!

Unsatisfied!
My mother and I have had SEVERAL procedures done and have found NO results from any of them. They actually BURNED my face at one point. They have refused to show me before & after pictures of any of the procedures. For the Amera smooth I went 3 times a week 21 times. They took measurements my first time & photos. They took photos for the final procedure, but no measurements. I have ALWAYS been small in build and am heavier now than I was at 9 months pregnant. I have gained 20 lbs in 4 months in the areas they did the procedure on. I have also done the skin tightening, photo facial & hair removal with NO RESULTS. I have used their skin products which I see NO difference in. Aveeno is better. I am at the point of hiring a lawyer. i am scared the only thing they may have done is irreversible damage to my skin & body. My next appointment is with a dermatologist. DO NOT USE AMERICAN LASER CENTERS, it is a fraud and all they try to do is sell, sell, sell. You cannot even email them a complaint because then you would have proof you contacted them.

Horrible service!
Where Do I start with this place. I workout at Lifetime fitness and one day AML was there scamming good hardworking people like me. I was given a $50 gift card and my name was put into a drawing. later on I find out that I won a $300 package deal I went in for my free consultation with Michelle Levy I was doing my under arms at $1000 and a small body part at $2000 I told Michelle that I wanted to think about it, she said that the price is only good for today and that it would go up $1000 the next day. So I went for it paid in full. Later on I was looking at my papers and saw that I did not get my $50 or $300 discount but something wasn't right I go in to find out that she quit there was a new manger I forgot the CU**S name in nice words she agree with me that I wasn't given my discount but on top of it all I was given the wrong package deal the $850 more deal. so anyway the CU** tells me she will get back to me a week goes buy nothing I HAVE A $1200 credit now there I call her and she says that they can't give me a refund because Michelle not there anymore BUT,BUT they will do me the favor and put it towards a new package deal a deal where I would have to use more of my hard working money towards. she sees that I am upset and sees that I won't do any package deals well yea I was rip OFF HELLO. so she has the nerve to tell me that anything she does won't make me happy. Well you guys can give the money you guys stole from me a working class person. anyways she tells me to have a nice life... CLICK. I call head corp. But they where no help. I went to a new location in Farminghton Hills where they hire any crackhead off the street A girl there burned my under arm SIX TIMES,SIX. One was so bad that I had puss coming out now I have a dark tissue scar. Once your 6 treatments are done (you do get a 2 yr guarantee) and if they see that you not doing anymore package deals there just tooo busy to get you a APP. My sister called them 1-7-08 to do the same small body area they told $1200 but it would have to be that day or it would go up $1000, wonder where I've heard that before. when I paid $2083 to be exact. There is just sooo much more Please don't go there they have to be stop. this company preys on us they know in this world we all want to be the best we can be. Please don't give your hard working money to them. I bump into to a former coworker of mine took a job with them in novi and she said that they make up prices as they go and scam sooo much. there is more that I can't say I can't wait till my full 2yr is up. The best place to have Laser done is at a dermo office or plastic surgeon office. And my hair... it still grows like my husband facial hair and I've been going a year in feb. Good luck to anyone out there who wants to go to them cause they will LIE, SCAM, STEAL from you.

Horrible service!
I have so many complaints that I don't even know where to start. First, I've been doing their hair removal procedure for three and a half years and my hair still grows back. Then like a fool, I purchase a new package to remove scars and when the manager wanted the sale, she called me every second of the day and pressured me and said that I would not regret it all. I told her at that point that I have been unsatisfied with their service and especially unhappy with their management so I was apprehensive in putting more money and trust into this company. That center has had a new manager at least 10 times in the last 3 years. So she guaranteed me that she would be there for me every step of the way. Soon after her sale to me, her very own technician was talking to me and informed me that the new package I bought would be very dangerous for my skin color and to get my money back because they sold me a package with out truly assessing my face. So when I told this to the manager she said that her technician was incorrect but when I spoke to their very own nurse she did not advise me to do it. To make a long story short, I have been battling with them to give me my money back for a service that 1) I never received and 2) is dangerous for me. I hate the day I ever dealt with these people and they have the worst business ethics ever! Give me my money back American Laser Center!!! You lied to me and now you are stealing from me. I’m reporting you to the Better Business Bureau!!!

Refund problems!
For anyone who's had to deal with American Laser Center and their bogus laser hair removal ploy... good luck! I signed up a few months ago after being suckered into a package before my honeymoon. Once I started to do more research I realized what a scam it was. Not only did I have trouble finding ANYONE who could say that the laser hair removal actually worked, but there are numerous complaints into the BBB.
Long story short... here's how I got my money back. I called the office where I had signed up and asked to speak to the manager. Of course, I got the run around. I told the receptionist that if I didn't receive a call from the manager within 48 hours that my lawyer would be in contact with them. Now I don't have a lawyer, but they don't know that. Within a few hours I had a call from the manager. I let her know that she had 48 hours to get the District Manager to call me or I would again call my lawyer. A few hours later, the same manager called back... but she informed me that she was currently processing my refund. She told me it would take a few weeks for it to show up on my Care Credit account. I made her give me an exact date as to when I would be receiving the refund, and I told her that I would be following up with her on that exact day if my refund hadn't gone through. Good new is, the refund went through and I got ALL my money back.
Moral of the story... claim to have a lawyer. It will scare the crap out of them. It got my money back!

Office closed doors, no refund, terrible customer service
I bought a $2,600 package for laser hair removal in Reno, NV and their clinic closed its doors. I have a contract signed with American Laser Centers, however they deny having anything to do with my problem. They NEVER return phone calls, and keep transfering me to an unidentified voice mail. I leave messages but they have been ignoring me.
The little they worked on my skin showed poor results.
My next step will be to complain to the Better Business Bureau and to the Attorneys' Office. I will also have to hire a lawyer to try to get my money back, and I know of at least one more person in the same situation.

Poor service!
I have same stories as everyone else, except I have a valid medical problem that prohibits me from ever using the treatments outlined in my "Free consultation"- they are really dangerous and fraudulent. They advertise as if they have doctors overseeing their services but when I went tot he md listed he told me he "only rents them space". If anyone wants to be a part of the class action suit, please email me and I will forward the attorney's name and email address.
They have ruined my credit, isn't there some help for consumers...

Run fast from this group of untrained swindlers!
I called american laser centers for my husband's back hair removal... called the 800 number 5 times, no one called me back. Then I went to our local clinic in Mequon, Wisconsin. The person was rude, busy and they told me the treatments were 10 weeks apart. We had done our homework and found normal treatments should be 4-5 weeks apart. The cost was over 2000.00. I had a consult, and the tech told me they only had 2 hours of training... the equipment they use is Syneron, but, they do not have the advanced software to treat all types, so they turn down the machines to avoid the untrained people from burning you. In addition, I called the laser company and asked who the owner was of american lasers... if you do your homework on the owner, he is sitting pretty now with an ankle bracelet.
Run fast from this group of untrained swindlers.

Laser hair removal!
I went in for a hair removal consultation in Pittsburgh, PA, with Dawn Stellabotte on March 9, 2006. Before I knew what had happened, I was on the table receiving my first treatment for a full leg hair removal. As I got home, I realized that I had jumped in too quickly so I called Dawn and requested that my contract be canceled and I be charged a per session fee for my treatment. She said it was impossible and that I would be held to my contract. So I called the corporate office and left a message. No one called me back.
So every 12 weeks I'd head off to the laser center. By the fifth treatment, I had NOT noticed any reduction in hair so they moved me to a 6-week interval. By the end of my sixth treatment I had lost less than 10% of my hair. But not to worry, ALC is one of the only companies that guarantee hair removal for 2 years. On my seventh treatment I requested an appointment with Dawn to discuss my lack of hair loss. She, of course, wouldn't meet with me, but put me with one of her best technicians, Pam. Pam told me that I needed to be patient. She said it was my fault that the hair wasn't falling out as a couple of my appointments weren't within the 12-week interval. She also said blondes don't have the same success as dark-haired people. She also said that the technicians were supposed to be doing a double pass on my legs but that the appointment times weren't long enough to allow them to do that because I have such long legs. So know what???
Well I'm going in again on July 16 with the intent of speaking with Dawn. Doesn't sound like I'll have much luck getting my money back, but at least I can let others know that the American Laser Center doesn't actually remove hair. So please be ware!!!

Unsafe practice, facial burn, failure to respond, no refund!
On January 28, 2006 both my sister and I met with Annie at the American Laser Center in Dearborn, MI to discuss permanent hair removal. During this consultation we were told that the hair removal was complete and permanent after 6 treatments, but that we would receive treatments until all hair was permanently removed. After the permanent hair removal was complete, we would be given any necessary follow up treatments if hair growth returned.
When filling out the questionnaire I found a Contraindication section that listed several medical conditions. I spoke with Annie about two of my medical conditions, Lupus and Hereditary Motor Sensory Neuropathy (a condition which affects nerve sensation in my arms and legs similar to a diabetic neuropathy). Annie said that there was absolutely no problem giving me the laser treatments with either of these conditions. Annie pointed out that the contradiction section does not say it won’t treat a person with those conditions.
I received regular treatments from early February 2006 through March 2007 and began expressing my concern that I was not seeing any reduction in hair growth to the technician during my visits. During my treatment on March 23, 2007 a new laser was used for my facial hair. This treatment left me with a scar from a severe burn on my upper lip.
On my subsequent visit on April 13, 2007 I arrived for my appointment and went through the normal questions about whether I have had any changes in my medications or medical situation and my answer was the same as always. At that time Ashley asked me again whether I have been diagnosed with Lupus. My answer was that yes, they strongly suspect Lupus, and my medical tests do indicate this diagnosis, but that there is no positive Lupus test. I was informed that the American Laser Center does not treat people with Lupus, and that even without Lupus, I should never have even been treated with my nerve disease.
Ashley spoke to a nurse and was given approval to treat me again. But by this time I had done more research and realized the danger I was placed in by receiving the treatments in the first place. I spoke to Michelle, a nurse with the American Laser Centers, and we discussed my situation. She did not feel comfortable that with my medical background that I ever should have been treated. I was told that she was referring my case to the legal department and I would be contacted.
I have tried contacting the American Laser Center numerous times and if anyone even answers the phone to me, I am always promised a call back. I was told about 5 weeks ago by a person in the legal department that I would be offered a refund of my “unused amount.” I told her that I was not satisfied with that resolution. I explained to her that I had told Annie about my diagnosis during my consultation and was told that it was no problem, that I have not had any reduction in hair growth, my health was put in danger for 14 months, and I have a scar on my top lip from the last treatment I received. She stated this was new information and she promised to get right back to me.
I have given the American Laser Center 3 months to respond and I feel that I have been more than patient. I paid $6000 for the treatment and I feel at a minimum they owe me a complete refund. I STRONGLY urge anyone who is considering doing business with American Laser Centers to use extreme caution. Their hands are out when they want your money, but afterwards they do not care about their patients.
