Office closed, no other office in state, no refund
I purchased a large treatment package for laser hair removal for my legs, under arms, lip, chin and brazillian. I am halfway through the treatments and have seen some results. I don't know if the results are lasting or not. In March I was told that my treatments were almost up. I pulled my contract the them and they were wrong. The contract had 12 more treatments. They had another contract that I had not signed that was the "revised" contract. The manager said she would continue with my treatments per my signed contract. I had one more treatment after that conversation and the Birmingham, AL office closed. I have contacted the corporate office and was told that they could continue treatments but I would need to travel out of state. I was informed that since they could continue the treatments at another location out of state that they were still in compliance with the contract. No refund or transfer to a local company to continue treatments. I'm not sure what I need to do now. Any suggestions?

You will spend a lot of money with this company and you will most likely not be satisfied with the results (especially with the face treatments). PLEASE BELIVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU THIS! It is a waste of your hard earned money! They will try to sell to you as much as they can. Whatever price they quote you, it is always negotiable though (even though it's still expensive). They have sales goals and all the managers want to make $$$ off of you (basically you're a dollar sign to them). Also, I made friends with one of the nurses there and she said that they have to tell their customers of how awesome every treatment is...even though they know the results are minimal. I've had 3 photo facials and they've caused blisters on my face each time! They also break me out even more! I wish I never purchased the damn package!
Also, when you make appointments with this company...expect to wait easily 15-20 min after your scheduled appt time. They are ALWAYS behind! If you are spending thousands of dollars, you'd think a company would have the respect to be punctual with their customers, right? In addition, they have a tendency to cancel appointments without telling you. They also stopped doing their courtesy appt reminder calls. You'd think with the thousands of dollars they make on each client, they would have their customer service at top notch. I guess that's not the case with this company. I just don't get it.

After reading all of the comments about this company I wanted to jump in and state I have had almost VERBATIM the same TERRIBLE service everyone else seems to have. I still have hair growth and had been told MULTIPLE times that I was receiving GUARANTEED hair removal and if I was not satisfied I'd receive a refund at the end of the 2 years after the first 6 treatments. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. First off I did have to stop and start my treatments twice because of two different pregnancies and then because of that I was told that because the paperwork I was given after that that I and an employee signed was incorrect and that they DID NOT have to honor their 2 year guarantee paper. I have called the customer care number several times and only when I threatened to complain to the better business bureau did I finally receive a call from the regional manager - Melissa Morris. She refused to give me any sort of refund stating that I was getting "free" treatments (there is no way they were giving me FREE ANYTHING. I paid for it in my package in the beginning) Because I hadn't paid anything since 2005 (I paid up front at the time of the first service) that they would not be giving me anymore treatments. Also it is not a guarantee of hair removal it was only a 2 year maintenance that I was getting. ALSO they have now currently closed down 2 offices in my area and the first time I was not informed by any letter who to contact or where I'd get anymore appointments once the office closed down. After talking to a neighbor I finally figured it out went to Greenwood, IN instead for one treatment and they have now closed that office as well. I was also told by the manager that my appointment times would transfer to the new office which IS NOT the case. It takes MONTHS to get an appointment there which means I do not get my every 8-10 weeks which I should. I have no called carmel office with no response to even get an appointment set up. I can be a very understanding and patient person but this is TERRIBLE business and still complained with the better business bureau about this company. There is no good way to get a hold of anyone who knows and even if I don't ever get a refund I will tell anyone and everyone not to get scammed so they do not lose any money over this horrible scam of a company. It takes a lot for me to take any action and I am ready to start a class action law suit. Rip off
I started my vela and chin hair removal treatment on 2/17/10. They explained that I wouldn’t see results on the vela treatment or the hair removal until the 6 or 7 treatments for that reason; I purchased a $2, 200 skin tightening treatment at American Laser Center in Norwalk, CT. I purchase a package of 6 for the chin hair removal I paid 858.00 I only had two chin treatments and 4 Velas which I have not seen results on any of these treatments. Now after only 4 of treatment they closed the office in Norwalk CT and are refusing to give me a full refund. I found out that the office was closing when I went for an appointment and the staff told me it was their last two days. They are asking me to go to the office in White Plains NY or the one in West Harford CT which it is impossible for me to drive so far and out of state. They offered to give me a partial refund but I haven’t seen any results and if I want to have this treatment somewhere else I will have to pay full price.
They don't care about the consumers... rip off...

worst treatment i ever get from any business
I got laser and micro derm. treatment paid over thousand dollars . Stuffs were bad poorly trained burned my skin after all painful process got no result. When i talked about to manager en Westley she was so rude and just said she doesnt care and doesnt want to do anything about it. i just waisted my time and money. Also i am emotionally very distracted because they treated me very badly.

This was a scam!
I signed up for services in May 2009. At the time I signed up, the techs and the manager, Jessica Stavena in the clearlake, Houston, TX office said the credit plan they were signing me up for has flexible payment plans where you can pay as low as $20 a month if you needed to... Thinking about how I was tight on money, I figured this was perfect for me! I can pay $20 dollars a month on those months where I don't have much money.. So I send my first payment, and by the second month, I find out that is not the case.. I got hit with huge fees, and now they took my promotional credit plan that offered no interest for 12 months.. So now my $2000 package is costing me $2800! To make things worse, I have been sent to a credit collection agency who is threatening to charge for legal fees if I don't pay up! This is not fair, this is not what i signed up for! I have left messages with the techs to have the manager call me to get this fixed, and I have yet to hear back from anyone! This was a complete scam just to get their sales bonuses, I'm sure! It has been a complete nightmare! I will never recommend this place to anyone!

$3600 and 1.5yrs later very little hair removed
With regard to hair removal I think this place is a joke. I have been in 2 different states and signed up for hair removal on bikini area and underarms. It has been over 1 and 1/2 years and I still need a razor. I feel completely ripped off, the "saleswomen" said I was a perfect candidate, fair skin, dark hair just normal amt of hair. I thought it would be worth it if I didnt have to shave anymore but that is never going to happen I complain almost everytime I am there, they will continue to do the treatments until I see results, but what a pain and they say that it probably will not remove all the hair...well then why would I spend $3500 and still need to buy and use a razor everyday. NO REFUNDS so I live with my mistake and never buy another service from this shady operation. I will add that I do have a friend who got laser hair removal at a dermatologist office and it did work. she could not believe that I had the lack of results I did but I just cant afford to try another place. I should have gone to her person.

I am a previous employee of american laser centers( i was not fired, i left on my own) and was told about this website. after reading many comments it's made me aware I was not alone in realizing how awful this company is. They are scam artists no matter what they say. Scam artists. all the ex-employees could truly blow this company out of the water with all that we know. I saw so many unsuspecting, hopeful people come through the doors thinking this was permanent and amazing treatments. They are not permanent. They are not amazing. I worked there over a year and a half and rarely saw people with 100% hair loss from laser hair removal . What's very sad is the clinic managers truly think that their company is right and all the bad things said about them are wrong. Or maybe they just play along because they make huge bonuses when they reach certain sale amounts. And I want people to not blame the technicians, when we are hired we do not know we are being hired as sales people(they forget to mention this to you) let alone know we will be trained so poorly and then thrown into treatments and told we need to make certain amounts or we will lose our jobs. It's a very stressful job for a technician and working 8 or 9 hours a day with no lunch everyday is very tiring for us. PLEASE do not spend your time and money on this company. Please please please do not go to this company. I have seen a few ex-employees comments on this website and we are not disgruntled we are merely trying to warn people and are motivated by others comments to only put our 2 cents in. I left there a few months ago but only just now have heard of this website from a previous employee and am so shocked and saddened to hear of all the people out there who have had to deal with these things from this company. Such a shame.

I am a former employee of American Laser Centers. They are the absolute most horrible company you could ever imagine. I was there for almost 4 years. Everything with ALC is about sales! The techs have to sell a certain amount each month or else your job is threatened. It is very stressful because you have to meet your quotas every month. But not just that you have to make sales that you know are dishonest. You have to do what you can to keep your job so you will sell to people that you know it won't work for or con people out of money when you know they can not afford it! The turnover is insane because techs quit when they realize that they can't meet their quotas or they get fired for not meeting their quotas. Techs are constantly leaving because they can't handle it. Corporate does not take anything into consideration all they care about are the numbers! You could be the worst tech and burning people but if you are selling it doesn't matter. And if you are an excellent tech but do not sell they will get rid of u! Instead of trying to teach people to sell they just constantly get rid of them. If a clinic is not doing good they will just get rid of the manager becuase they think they can get someone in there who can sell more when sometimes in reality that just might not be a clinic that is ever going to make that much depending on the area or whatever. Everyone in this company is in a click. I have seen managers get away with soo much but they are in the "click" so they can get away with anything. I've seen excellent managers go because they are not liked or not in the click. The managers constantly sit on their cell phones and gossip about other managers in other clinics. Usually the managers are NEVER there and depend on their techs to manage the clinic. All the managers care about is if you help them to get their bnous check. Managers bonus at 40, 000. This company is just a bunch of backstabbing, coniving, cold hearted people. Do not go here for laser hair removal they can talk a big game but really all they are is a bunch of money hungry, greedy, mean company who does not care about not only the client but their employees as well.

Beware of the deceptive tactics
Beware of the deceptive tactics of American Laser Centers. They tell you that you have "won" so many dollars towards skin treatments to get you into their office. It is nothing but a sales pitch. We bought into the "skin tightening" treatment with the understanding that it was as good as a plastic surgeon. It was to remove wrinkles, and lift your neck and jowell area. I got the neck and jowell and my Mother bought into the full face and neck treatments for removal of wrinkles and lift the neck and jowell area. They claim only 5 treatments are necessary and will throw in a few more if needed.
I went through seven treatments and my Mother went through eight treatments. It is supposed to work immediately and continue to "improve" and "produce" collegen after the first treatment. You only go into treatment once a month, claiming the collegen is "building up". What a bunch of bull this is. IT DOES NOT WORK. It did not lift my neck at all and did not remove wrinkles like it claims at all. Same with my Mother.
They give you a test treatment to sell you on it and they use lots of gel on your face to cool the skin from the laser. After your treatment it looks like a wrinkle is gone. Don't be fooled by this. The gel is what plumps up your skin. Later that day the area went right back to where it was. At the end of my 5th treatment, I did receive the before and after pictures and it was a joke. It was clear that it did not do anything. They still to this date have not given my Mother her after pictures.
We filed against them with the BBB. American Laser's response was funny. It was a form letter that they would fill in the name, due to the fact that they have so many complaints. At one point in their response to me they mentioned cellulite and hair removal. Like daaaah!!! I did not have that proceedure done. My Mother's response, in one of the paragraphs they called her by a different name!!! They neglected to remove previous name. The BBB ruled the company's response does not adequately address all the issues or make a good faith effort to resolve the dispute. We are taking them to small claims. And we are also filing a formal complaint with the State Attorney General's office.
They also go through employees and managers constantly. Don't think you will get the same technician twice. They are gone before that. Also, they never returned my calls to address our problems and only wanted to keep giving us more treatments. The last treatment I had they "turned up the heat" and it burned me. NO way was I going back there. To date they still refuse to refund our money.
They need to stop telling people they "won" treatments, and need to stop selling this "skin tightening" treatment. And need to stop telling people it produces collegen each month and continues to improve. All of it is deceptive.
