I was contacted by a rep.(Chris) who advised they had a buyer for my Cancun timeshare, wh was offering $23K. I advised that was well below what I wanted. The following day Chris called and said they had done another appraisal and what do you know, they came up with the $38K that I had shared was my price! That day Chris exlained that I was to sign a contract for $995. and AMG would handle everything else, and I should expect to get my $$ in 60 days, 120 at the worst. I asked her to send me the paperwork i was to sign.
I rec'd it today and as I suspected it is lacking in detail. When I called her back, I raised the protection(lack of) contained in para. 3 which states that if they don't have it sold/settled in 120 days, I can get a refund "at closing" When I challenged her she said that is when the contract with me "closes." I said that is not what it says, nor is there any date when the contract w/me closes. She said I had 1 yr. to dispute the charge w/ my credit card co. When I corrected her that it was 60 days, she responded "I was told it was a year" . That was the nail for me. Anyone who has purchased anything knows it's 2 not 12 billing cycles. This exchange took away all credibility.
If you decide to go with this company, I am suggesting that you are at their mercy with the contract provides no assurances whatsoever. In this economy, some owners are desparate to sell and initially this approach sounded good...too good. I am going to pursue this with the Florida authorities and I am suggesting that others with this type of complaint raise the awareness level with FL. too. If these people are legitimate, they would welcome the scrutiny, but I am suggesting they won't!
