I purchase a Marantz CD player from American Theater, the guy said it would ship in the next few days. I called back a week later asking them, if it has shipped, the guy on the phone said it hasn't and that they were waiting to get it in stock. I told them that I wanted to cancel my order and the guy hung up on me. Fifteen minutes later a guy from the store called me to apologize, I told him I still wanted to cancel.
He then said it will cost me a 15% restocking fee.
I told him I would contest it with my credit card and we ended the conversation.
They sent a copy of their policy to the credit care company about cancellations will be charged 15%. The credit card company sided with American Theater because it was written in their policy.
Well, it was $170 dollars I had to pay for a $860 dollar CD player to cancel. How can there be a restocking fee when they never had it in stock? Plus the guy said it would ship in the next few days, but 1 week later it hadn't.
