Check Out Debatable / Rude Management
My husband and I arrived on Friday evening April 30th for a Saturday commencement service scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Checking in was a chore since it was apparent that the owner did not want to have a conversation with us. He greeted other guests, even asking what type of room they would like. We asked if a room with a double bed was available. "No!" I later called the desk to see if a later check out would be possible since we didn't have any place to stay until the graduation service began. The same gentleman yelled, "No, No, the check out time is 11:00 not 12:00! slamming down the phone. I simply wanted him to honor the time posted on the back of the door. I looked for a corporate number to call to see why this request wasn't possible and why this person would not speak to me. It was clearly stated on the door that management could be flexible with check out times. I called the desk again stating my intent to file a complaint. He yelled, "I don't care what you do!" slamming the phone down again. My husband and I decided to check out early the next morning and find a place to eat breakfast and wait it out walking through the local Wal-Mart. We wanted at the desk for ten minutes waiting to check out. The very same gentleman went about cleaning the adjacent breakfast room, not bothering to come to the front desk. Thankfully, everyone else in this small community was much nicer. Breakfast at a local bookstore was great. He was a man of color from another country and I would hate to think that he would not want people of color in his place of business.
