I guess I have known Amy Goldman as a therapist for over 10 years, during which time she was involved with my family.

The implications of reviewing a therapist are open to discussion. Part of the therapeutic process, ideally, is the creation of a private space where the client can trust the therapist with personal details, feel a sense of value, be heard, and ultimately become better psychologically adapted. It is a space that is created by the client and the therapist, and each one is unique. Publishing online reviews of therapists has the potential to pollute that therapeutic space and the therapeutic relationship.

Yet, like plumbers, auto mechanics, carpet cleaners, and restaurants, there are first rate establishments, and substandard service.

Doctors and therapists should't be allowed to work in a vacuum. Flawed, badly behaved, medical and therapeutic professionals should be made known and called attention to.

In Ms. Goldman's case, she spoke so much in open court in regards to our case that any idea of Safe Haven is superfluous. She has only herself to blame for that.

Anyways, I digress.

I cant in all honesty recommend Amy Goldman as a therapist. During the time Ms. Goldman treated our child, I viewed her as having serious lapses in judgment, I believe she demonstrated poor boundaries, and through her actions, established a conflict of interests.

Furthermore, I believe Ms. Goldman did not work well with the other therapists whom the Court assigned on our case. In addition, I felt Ms. Goldman was self-serving, as the child's problems were seen in terms of the particular theoretical therapeutic orientation of that therapist. Therapists should'nt impose their own structures on their clients. Such could be surmised by her various court appearances and testimony.

I believe Ms. Goldman lost her perspective when it came to my family, and in doing so, infringed upon some of the standards LCSW/ therapists are to live by, and in doing so, she hurt a lot of people.
