cancellation/harrasment/hitting on
First off let me say the fitnessclub i originally signed with was fantastic. I lived in mckinney and the club was right around the street. The people there were friendly and kind and always kept me updated Bout my account.they even had notifications of when my account was to be hit sent to my phone. Then I moved to plan.
O the stories. The one time I went in there to work out, I was badgered by an attendant if I needed water or if I wanted a personal trainer(this I was offered with vigor and with no personal space accounted for)... pretty much just hit on by a slimeball on steroids. Then my account charges were suppose to be transferred to my fathers account and then transferred to the new location. But apparently that was one-step too many for this location because I got hit for the full amount today after i just put my paycheck in yesterday. Let me explain- I'm 18. I may be a kid but I'm not stupid. I went to discuss this with my new location and I walk into an office of a man watching tv and playing on his phone. The second I expressed I had a complaint he excused himself and found the owner. The owner looked into my account. Said he couldn't do anything and started bashing the previous location. I know the owners of the previous location. They're great people. So I told him I'm just going to cancel my membership. He said-and I quote- well give us a chance to earn your business. All of this while his colleague sat beside me gazing not-so-nonchalantly at my nondescript sports bra. Now I work in human relations. I know that's code for. Don't leave us. I hate when I feel undermined and on top of that weaseled into (once again) the offer of a personal trainer and free classes.
Listen, if you cant do your job professionally, don't try to cover it up by staring down my shirt. Don't offer me "personal" time when I blatantly want nothing to do with you. Oh and learn how to contact another fricking store. You had no problem giving me the number when I was upset, why couldn't you do it before I wanted to cancel? Just saying...

Personal trainer scam
I was lied to and pressured into signing up for a personal trainer. After 3 months of him not showing up when we were supposed to meet, and him texting me at 5:30 in the morning to demotivate me I asked to switch trainers. Then I find out the contract I had was not the contract I had agreed to, I find out the old trainer attempted to alter my contract. I then complain to the owner who was rude and unhelpful. She then accused me of just trying to be lazy and quit my fitness program, when I just wanted to go to a gym that did not lie and have all this negativiety. They would not let me out of my contract and acted like I was wrong and would not even discuss how the trainer lied or attempted to alter my contract

termination of contract
Be careful how you pay this group. The end date of the contract seems to mean nothing to this group. You get an automatic renewal at a higher rate without you even knowing it. The friendly and helpful folks that signed you up or no longer helpful. You get an 800 nuber to call and then the fun begins. I am going on a month arguring with them. I signed up for two years and enjoyed it. Now ready to move on and no one seems to get it!

Scam and Ripoff
Do not sign up here. It is a total scam and a ripoff. There is not enough equipment for everyone to use (4 treadmills and 4 elliptical machines and 2 bikes), so be prepared to work out with other people and share equipment. The woman also told me I could cancel at anytime for a $50 charge, and I was ok with that. So I decided to cancel after a few months after hearing a couple of the men in there talk innappropriately about females who were working out and act if they never saw a woman before. It was beyond uncomfortable to be in there being stared at! When I called to cancel, they referred me to another company that handles their billing (ABC Processing) - and they told me I could not cancel - even after the lady that signed me up said I could (there is a long list of stupid rules on canceling that I should have read on the back of the contract, but didn't since I asked the rep directly about canceling and expected to get a honest answer - so that is my own fault). So now I am unemployed and stuck paying for a membership I don't use and I can barely afford to feed my family and make my house payment. I have read nothing but bad reviews on this company as a whole. I just wish I read the reviews before I signed up! I also checked with other Anytime Fitness locations and they said that they could, in fact, cancel my membership if they wanted, but are hurting for money, so won't cancel me. This location also charges more than some of the other locations, so beware!

Scam
I worked out at a 24 hour Anytime Fitness and it was open 2-8. I tried to cancel because it wasnt ANYTIME it was 2-8. I work for a living and cant make it there between those times. They told me sorry... But first they gave me 8 people numbers and noone could help me. They kept telling me to call someone else. Thankfully I moved out to the country where there is no Anytime Fitness around and canceled. But not after I had to pay a HUGE fee for canceling. I recommend that noone using Anytime Fitness.

Worst gym ever
Do not sign a contract with this gym, no matter what you do unless you move or have a Doctors letter you can not get out of the contract not even by paying a cancellation fee.
I fell like I am working out in a prison this gym is so nasty you nearly fall on your face with all the overlapping mats on the ground. Once you sign a contract you are screwed, DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE THAT IS CLEANER AND CHEAPER IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY OR TIME. TRUST ME. This gym is a piece of ***.

Scumbags
Its great to see the number of hits on this complaint board. Also its great to see the increase in number of complaints being posted. It looks like people are starting to wake up and see these scumbags for whatthey are. Everyone who posts should tell at least two more people to post and ask tthem to ask two more people to post. Eventually the word will get out about these scumbags and some good will come of it. Maybe they will stop picking on dead people, people who have moved, people who have losttheir jobs in this bad economy. Maybe they will start to deal with people in a more caring way instaead of their "take no prisoners " approach and customer be damned attitued. Maybe they will lear the value of having good customers. And maybe I will grow wings and fly away!!

Unable to get out of contract
I cannot get any satisfaction from Anytime Fitness. First they moved to a smaller space a mile FURTHER from my home and their 24 hour policy is great EXCEPT I don't feel safe working out in the middle of the night at this new place. I have told them all of this but of course they don't care. I am PISSED! My husband lost his job and we are stuck in this contract. On top of that they are mischarging me for tanning which I do not get and I have to pay the bank to stop them from taking money out of my account. I have had enough of these jerks! UGH!

Dead people
It was amazing to read that ANYTIME FITNESS still wanted to bill a dead person. I can almost feel the anguish that this caused the relatives. One would think that any company would have the compassion to stop the billing once someone was reported as being dead. I wonder how they hoped to collect the money? A follow up comment or update by the person whose relative died and was still being charged would be interesting. Just to see how or IF it was finally resolved. I wouldnt be surprised by anything that this company tried to do to get money.
