Apple - Mac Reviews

December 15, 2006
Refunded only part of my money!
Below is my communication with Apple regarding my attempting to cancel a .Mac membership. They were contacted and only refunded part of my money although I got in touch with them in enough time. This is what this very successful company's customer service looks like.

Dear Toni,
Thank you for contacting Apple.

From the information provided we are able to determine you wish to cancel your .Mac subscription.

.Mac accounts are automatically renewed, unless the auto-renew option is disabled within the Account Settings section of the .Mac site. Therefore, in attempt to honor the auto-renew option which was active for this account, Apple requested and received an authorization on the credit card stored in the account.

Apple has received your cancellation request for the .Mac account tonism.

Apple welcomes all customer feedback and would like to know whether a change in the .Mac offerings would have served your needs better.

Please reply to this email with the following information:

Before Apple cancels your account, you may wish to log in to your .Mac account and retrieve any data that you would like to preserve. To learn how to remove your data, click Data Preservation near the top of this page:

After receiving and verifying your information, Apple will cancel your .Mac account. Your credit card will be charged for the number of days your account was active.

Sincerely,
Arthur

I am a bit miffed at the CS person I spoke with. I have been checking my Gmail (email) account on a daily basis, expecting a reply since 11/27/2006. I was told
I would be contacted there, in that I gave him all my information. NOTE: the rep told me the .mac account would be disabled. That was on 11/27/06.

"In 24 to 48 hours Apple will issue a refund for the cost of membership minus the prorated amount for the number of days your account was active. The refund will be sent to your credit-card company. Please contact your credit-card company if you have questions about when the credit will be posted to your account."

My Reply:
I want this escalated to a Manager. I sent my email to you to cancel on the day the money posted to my account.

Prior to 11/27 your company attempted to debit me for an amount of over $100.00. I wrote you then!

Check your records for Christ sake! I called on the day the amount posted 11/27/2006. THAT IS THE RENEWAL DATE.

YOUR customer service person told me that once he put through the request my account would be disabled, so I gave him the gmail.com address, and waited in VAIN!

I went back to the .mac to find a number to call again, and there it was, still active.

How OBTUSE can you be? Do you not have the ability to read, comprehend, and process? Do you really think I am going to allow you to rip me off because you are incompetent, and lacking the ability to give a problem the attention required?

So here we are, it is now December 6, 2006, and you are going to pro-rate my refund? I THINK NOT!

I was misled by ARTHUR, do you get it? You chose to keep the account active, CAPISH? YOU did, not I.

And, BTW, your email product is the worst I have seen, yes, the worst. What kind of offering is that? So, I never used it. Your email product SUCKS!

I am going to dispute this via my bank. They do have the means to protect me against FRAUD!

I did copy all the emails.

Have a nice day,
Toni Smith

Today, December 10, 2006, Apple refunded my money minus $3.33. This may seem like an insignificant amount, but it is huge as an example of how easy it is for them to take your money and how hard to get it back.

I last spoke to a Greg in CS at Apple on 12/8, who told me I would get a complete refund, after I went over my story again! How stupid can they be? What a way to cut off your nose and spite your face? I purchased a MAC G4 accessories, and SW that cost me in excess of $2,500. Paid every year for a service I did not use, and when it was time to cancel, this is what transpired. Folks, $3.33 will cost them thousands of dollars in lost business. I have been aggravated beyond belief, just trying to get a straight and truthful answer from these people. I have been loyal to Apple, but this takes the cake.
