I purchased two Archos 9 Windows based Tablets that were advertised as having specs that would be average to better then average (for a computer) performance. No means being gaming systems, but perfectly capable to handle fundamental functions like Word and iTunes. However to my extreme disappointment the products (in my opinion) were badly designed in respect to the touch pad capabilities. On top of this, one of the tablets had a problem with the screen and, though the tablet was on and sound was emitted, the screen was black/blank. The other tablet was functioning, though extremely slow. Without exaggeration, any basic function whether it would be to open a document or a folder would take 2 mins to process. I would have to set down the tablet, walk away, and return for anything to be complete.
Archos seemed very compliant about taking the two tablets back in order to exchange for new tablets since it was within 30 days of purchase. At this point it wasn't even two weeks. They kindly explained to me that a refund or swapping for a different model would not be options within the warranty, but again they would switch them out for new tablets.
After getting RMAs started, sending them PoP, and sending my tablets in, I followed up on the status only to learn that they would NOT be sending me new tablets, but rather refurbished items, supposedly with "new parts" or components, but a used case. I tried to explain that this was not what I agreed on, but out of trying to be fair I went with it ONLY IF I were able to get a list or manifest of the components switched out. They agreed to email me the information. After not receiving any email, I called again today only to get a rude customer service rep that was sarcastic and snide and raised her voice. After expressing that there was no need to get excited or raise voices she argued the fact and became indignant. I requested the email with a list of components that were switched out within the "refurbished" tablets, but she expressed that thats "not possible" and "no one has that information" I became frustrated and she responded "Okay, fine! Ill send you an email!" I asked if it will give the list im requesting and she again said that the information Im wanting is not an option, but that she will send me an email with a guarantee that they are new parts.
This was the email I got from the highest customer service manager they have:

Needless to say, Im outraged at this lack of concern or care shown toward a customer who has already been having a bad experience. DO NOT BUY PRODUCTS FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
This is my opinion based on circumstances and interactions I personally have had with this company thus far.
