Archos is normally a big name in multimedia area of consumer electronics. An originally French company building MM products. They have a very flashy site to market the product, thats where I got confused and ordered for the very expensive set of Archos new product Archos5 Internet Tablet with many freebies. Here were the details:
I bought an Archos 5 Internet Tablet few weeks back (order date 26th Feb 2010, Invoice date 5th March 2010). My product id : JC...,
Serial number: PC... (it is difficult to read from the back of the device such a small letters). It is a 500GB device with DVR station, cover case, Stylus, Car mount. A total of 598.75 Euro (an expensive purchase). I have registered the device with you via web.
Here are the problem details below for problems:
1. The WIFI connection is erratic and some times connect properly some times not so problems are following
a. In an internet tablet I can not connect to internet so far except google site.
b. I can not connect to your store directly from the device
c. Can not get connected to Vtune, only sometimes
d. Can not get the videos for which I am eligible
e. Can not get the tv schedule for which I am eligible
2. Because of so much of Internet problem with “Internet Tablet” I decided to use other non internet functionalities more
a. So I wanted to order for GPS maps for western Europe
b. I also wanted to order for Plug in for HD cinema
c. I first tried thru device to order it did not work as usual
d. I then logged in(via a laptop) to my account in web and tried to buy from there.
e. I first added GPS in the basket for western Europe then I tried to add in same basket the plug in I wanted to buy. The system refused and said that I have to buy plug in separately.
f. I deleted GPS product from basket and went on to buy the plug in first for HD cinema. After 3 steps it ask for Product Id which I can not key in any where.(After my initial email, now one of archos colleague changed something in my account and now it ask me to register for a product, when I try to do that the registration fails so buying process fails), I shall attach screen shot.
g. Now if I go back to my account, I find no registration information anymore for my Internet tablet, which is even more serious and all my future buying from Archos depends on that, support depends on that etc.
h. Now the problem is I can not also buy any thing from Archos any further or get any updates(as my registration info is not any more there), no support and on top a very bad user experience.
3. I called to your French office(e commerce) they do not want to discuss the problem on phone at all, I have send many angry emails (as I spoilt lot of time in it) but with no help from any body.
4. I feel my self deceived as a customer for not having the full product benefit as described. A return of product will even cost me more on postage and risk of not reaching or broken product.
5. It is a nightmarish experience with this product after spending so much of money
In a multimedia product or any product if you do not get the promised functionalities, as a customer you get decieved. This is exactly the case with me too. I do not want another customer to be scamed with a non ready product from a big company.
