Two amounts of annual fee $29.95 have been repaid but Ascentive refuse repayment of initial amounts $34.90 and $47.85 taken from credit card.

Ruiden my computer
I downloaded Ascentive into my computer thinking it would improve the performance. Not only it did nothing to improve the computer's performance, my computer stopped working the next day and I had to get it fixed by a software repairman. I didn't do anything else to my computer other than download this software from Ascentive so I am virtually positive it happened because of the software from Ascentive.

The repairman told me the software that I had downloaded was junk and damaging, and to never download programs like that again. Ascentive wouldn't refund my money and I had to fight with my credit card company for satisfaction.

Their sofrware is a junk
Looking at the number of complaints I would say this company has been ripping people off since they began.I wish I had seen the sight before I bought it.Not only buyer beware but buyer RUN AWAY!!!

I bought this junk software a year ago and it did not work at all!! So I figured I had learned a lesson and would not deal with these RIPOFF people again!! WRONG!! One year later they had the nerve to charge me again for a product that did not work in the first place.

Needless to say I am very upset, if I had not caught this DISHONEST move on my card statement Asscentive would have rip me for another $30.00 .They are refunding the money but Iam PISSED !!! STAY AWAY FROM ASSCENTIVE!!!

Made my pc run slower
After down loading the software my computer ran slower. I was suckered in like many others and would like to have my money back as soon as possible. You can mail my check to 9531 Legend Isle Dr., San Antonio, Texas 78254.

It's nothing but a ripoff scam. I've learn my lesson about purchasing TV and Computer ads for minimum cost. I do not recommend this product for anyone. You had better check thing out before purchase, it could save you some headaches later on.

I do not like writing these type of reports but, this product does not live up to the advertisement.

I didn't order software but they charged me
My credit card company notified me of a suspicious charge by Ascentive Llc on my credit card.

I did not order this software! Yet, this company had my card number???

So I refused the charge and changed my card number.

I figured that they must have obtained my credit card number in some fraudulent way. It is a hassel for me ... but at least they didn't get my money for something I didn't order!

Thank goodness for American Express. They have an algorithim in their software that apparently notices lots of charges to their customers and that looked suspicious to them.

How to file Complaints against Ascentive
While routinely checking my bank account transactions online, I have discovered an authorized charge of $59.99 from originating from Ascentive, LLC. I have never done, or planned to do business with the said company. I have immediately notified my bank that the fraudulent charge has occurred, and canceled my debit card associated with the affected account. After doing some research, I’ve realized this is a fraudulent company and there is no benefit to a consumer to contact them directly. Usually, the first thing the naïve consumer does, is to contact the company first in hope of being given an explanation and retribution. Often the consumer is very emotional about their complaint. After some hand twisting and threats, the company eventually agrees to refund the consumer the charge, humiliating the consumer in the process, because he or she “didn’t understand the rules”. What I urge the consumers to do is not to waste their time and direct their energy at legally prosecuting the company. First, you have obviously determined that you are dealing with thieves, and the thieves will do everything possible at intimidating you physiologically (not giving you contact options, blaming you, and finally getting off the legal hook by refunding you). But you should keep in mind that for every 10 consumers going through this process, there will be always 20% who simply either give up, or just miss the charge and never report it. This is how the thief is earning their illegal profit. Therefore, I urge that consumers take their time and rationally approach this issue.

1. Cancel your debit/credit card to ensure no further charges.
2. Call your bank’s dispute department and demand the refund. The refund will be credited to your bank account within a couple of days.
3. Research the Company. States have databases with company’s registration information, founders name, address, etc.
4. Contact the authorities and file reports. It is better NOT to report against the company, file the complaint against an individual who is the head of the company.
5. File the POLICE REPORT immediately referencing similar fraudulent activity as evidenced by other consumer website complaints.

In this case, the following is the information about the company.

Ascentive, LLC

Beware
I purchased the PC Scan and Sweep software. When I try to use it, The Company wants to charge me again. WHY???? Sounds like a major league SCAM to this writer. I have tried to contact Ascentive software about this problem and can not find any person to talk to nor to email. This customer is not at all happy with the experience with Ascentive Software. In addition I have been unable to remove the software from my computer. This is a total disaster. When a company offers a product that has promise and then the product will not function because of some unknown reason and the company further isolates itself, they need to be put out of business.

Phishing, rogue spyware
I received two email from Ascentive stating that:
1. I have a subscritpion with them
2. They have my credit card number.
3. They intend to charge me for their service.

I had never heard of, let alone used their products.

After a bit of research, I have found that-

Ascentive is a known rogue malware company.

They offer a 'free trial' of a system optimizer, which contains fine print that they are not responsible for what their product does to your computer AND by using the 'free trial', you are signing up for a subscription.
It is very difficult to cancel that subscription, since they do not answer the phone and they respond to email cancel requests with form letters.

Ascentive has an 'F' rating with the BBB.

They are linked to many malware scams, like 'Finally Fast'.

I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of Pennsylvania against this company for attempted theft.

I urge anyone who has been scammed by this company to do the same.

Buyer beware
Program seemed to help get rid of unwanted errors an corrupted files at first. Then at start-up it would slow the computer so bad it took 35 minutes to load everything up to start. I set the configuration to not run at start-up but it continued to do so like it had a mind of it's own. So, I just had to finally remove the programs. I am waiting to see if it really did remove or not; it seems like it's just the program that won't go away. What a waist of a hard earned $59.99. Well, I guess it's just a expensive lesson learned for not checking the company out better. It's a rip-off in my opinion. Buyer Beware!
