Disrimination
Ashford has dropped me from their online program due to some hardships that were out of my control. I even appealed their action and they denied it. I didn't feel that I was givin a fair chance. Because they said that I wasn't meeting their satisfaction. They talked me into taking loans and now I'm stuck in debt.

Financial Aid
I have been attending Ashford for 5 months now. My financial aid has not been handled properly at all. I was informed that this is a seven week process. I am currently taking my 29 day leave of abscense in order for Ashford to resolve this situation. I have already been approved for my 2008-2009 FAFSA and none of it has been applied to my tuition fees. I have been patient long enough. I am forced into getting an attorney involved in this matter. If Ashford can not get my financial aid straightened out before the 29 days have ended, then I will loose my Stafford loan and owe Ashford an out of pocket expence, not to mention my time loss of attending college elsewhere, until this matter is resolved. I have done everything I was suppose to for Ashford. It is a shame that I have to cancel my education for such nonsense. For once in my life I am able to attend college, now the burden of not being able to go is on me because of Ashford`s negligience. It is not fair that I can not further my education over Ashford`s wrongful doings.

Awful School
I had a lot of trouble with this University it was a nightmare with trying to turn in paperwork they would recieve a document then turn around and say it was lost, this was a regular occurence once I finally started classes they told me half way through that they needed to cancelled my classes because they had no paperwork (even thou I had copies and fax confirmations saying they did) at that point I decided not to continue with them. A few weeks later they informed me that i owed $738 for a class I never finished so I offered to pay &550 to make up for what I did not complete and they refused and were exteremly rude and yelled when I was very calm. Take my advice I enrolled in Phoniex University and they are wonderful and so are they instructors. I would not suggest anyone attend Ashford.

In March 2009 I signed up at Ashford University and was told that I could get financial aid which I did however when it came in the took it. I was told after the first four classes and the Tech Fee were paid the rest would be mine well they miss-lead me and now I am out over $13, 000 dollars.
I told them when I signed up I could not afford out of pocket money for books and I would need an updated computer to be able to do the school work I was only getting $698.00 a month on SSI and Greg Roberts my Academic Advisor and my Financial Advisor at the time told me no problem they even sent me an email’s stating that I will have lots of money left over do with what I wanted well the did not tell me that I would have to wait until September 2009 to get it if I get.
They have put me in a position where I can’t buy books or a new compute however I am expected to get my school work done one of the books cost over $200.00 dollars and it is an Ashford University book not a book you can get in a store even online it cost $129.00 dollars.
What is a person on disability to do?

Ashford University is nothing but a huge FRAUD school. They will let you attend school before your financial aid is complete. And it will take you forever to get it complete if you ever do. When you finally realize that your not getting financial aid you will owe them thousands of dollars. DO NOT GO THROUGH ASHFORD UNIVERSITY. They will rip you off. The WORST online school ever. Believe what you read (all the bad) on this complaint board it is TRUE. I owe them over $5, 000 dollars so they say, because unfortnately My Financial Aid did not go through, because they say they never received my paperwork even though I received an email fro my Financial advisor on 7/1/08 stating that they had received all of my paperwork and I would shortly receive a letter stating what grants I received. That letter never came and I am still fighting them to this day about my balance. STAY AWAY FROM ASHFORD THEY ARE HORRIBLE

I enrolled at Ashford University Online in April, 2009.
After comunicating extensivly several times with the enrollment advisors and being reassured multiple times that All my tuition would be covered by my grants, which was re-confirmed by my advisors during the begining my first week of classes that all my paper work had been finalized and all my tuition was being paid for. However during the middle of my 2nd week I recieved a notice that I had no student aid and nothing was being paid for and that I was going to have to take out 2 intrest loans to attempt to pay for my tuition. I tried repeatedly to call and e-mail them to figure out what was going on and try to resolve the matter. But all I got in return was having my calls and mail ignored for the past week. 3 days into my third week of class after repetedly calling I finnaly got in touch with someone to actually talk to me. As it turns out I had been lied to and misinformed and minipulated from the very begining about my student aid and tuition coverage. When I tried to find out more about my fed. student aid and what else I could do to resolve the matter they kept trying to change the subject and get me to take out multiple intrest loans. When I continued further to find out more about my fed. student aid options they kept transfering me to other advisors and giving the run around. I called around locally tried to get advice from the local board of education, my old high school and a semi-local technical college they were all very suspisious and told me not to enroll or sign any thing further and dissenroll ASAP. It took 2 days to get into contact with them just for that. So today May 07 2009 I dissenrolled and now am held with a $1000+ bill for nothing more than 6 total wasted weeks and a worthless over priced book. All I can do is hope that this does not mess up my student aid for the future, or the chance of enrolling with a professional and legitamate school.
I just hope that this information can be used to help someone else to avoid from getting into this type of situation with such misinforative lying {so called} business.

I have the same issue as others I have read. I was allowed to attend Ashford after my initial loan year for another full year without a loan or payments. I was new to the loan process and did not realize that I needed to apply for a loan each year until a Ashford representatives called me at the last moment (almost a year later) and advised me that I needed to get my loan application to them within three days. I did exactly as they asked. My application was denyed because I had made a decision that month to leave school. Ashford claimed that, since I was no longer enrolled, I could not get a loan for the time that I had been going there (even though it was their error). I tried to contact my representatives to re-enroll in school to get my loan approved and no one, except for the school's collection department, would call me back. Since then I have been sent to a outside collection agency called Cain & Weiner for the amount of $5, 094.00. I am considering hiring a lawyer. Something is not right. I do not mind paying what I owe but I do not want to pay outside of my student loan. Financial Aid & Loans/Advisors
I have had horrific customer service through Ashford University. I only switched to Ashford because of the customer service I did receive and was assured that everything will go smoothly; and I wouldn't need to send any information for the questions I has asked the enrollment advisor back in June 2008.
Since the end of June, I began the process of the run around concerning the financial aid. I sent Ashford the information requested; and again the informed me all is well. Every month it has been something else. Then I ended up FAXing, emailing, and telephoning the same things repeatedly. Each time all was fine; when reality it wasn't. Every month turned into every week to every three days.
Today is the 2nd of December 2008, and still the financial aid issues not resolved. I was threatened back in October that I will be blocked from taking classes if I didn't cooperated. I've been cooperating in sending them the same information more than three times.
I've called, emailed, and FAX with these people about the situation. I repeatedly requested the University's presidents name and communication really stopped with the advisor. Nobody seems to ignore the fact that I want to contact the president of Ashford to voice my complaints.
I was tired of the run around. I've had this same issue since June 2008 and here it is the beginning of December 2008. I also want Ashford to refund me the time I spent fighting with them over the same issue and for the ink and paper I used unnecessarily. The financial issue still hasn't been resolved. I want it resolved and correct. I've been more than faithful to these people.
I informed them as many times I've emailed, telephoned, and FAXed, they would make sure my issues would be top priority and resolved. The processing department has been too many people involved with my personal information and this really concerns me. I have requested for a supervisor to take over months ago and still nothing. So I hope this will be resolved once this is posted. It's not fair to me at all.
Ashford University has taken all the excitement away for returning back to school. I really need this issue resolved. I also better receive better customer service and more concern. Only one person apologized to me; but it's not enough anymore. I want to see actions. I also informed Ashford that I should be treated as if I was there in person.

Misleading and Failure to Provide Services Offered
I was told prior to enrolling that my financial aid and transcripts were all taken care of. I'm now in my 5th week and find out they have not submitted anything for my financial aid and have floated me through my first class on a Pell Grant that I didn't even know about. I've made several attempts to correct the issue with little to no response from any of my advisors.
