Once they have your money customer service goes out the window
We bought living room furniture on 2-15-09. They were very nice in the store, but after waiting 13 weeks for our furniture to be delivered [we were tolded 6-8 weeks], when we called they were nasty and rude. We are still missing a chair and no one will call us back !! Once they have your money customer service goes out the window!!

Unkept promises & poor customer service
We purchased a dining room table with chairs in early January 2009. It was supposed to arrive within 6-8 weeks. Didn't arrive. We received one phone call telling us that they would call us when they had an arrival date.
At 10 weeks we still had not heard anything and we went back again to the store... they gave us another date and finally we asked that if the item did not arrive by this 'new' arrival date (12 weeks after the original purchase) that our money would be fully refunded. Agreed. We actually gave them THREE extra days and finally went in and canceled the order.
Since we paid with a credit card they would not write us a check, they had to place the purchase amount back on our card. They promised that within 7-10 days we would receive our refund. Today is day 10, no refund. I just called... oh, silly me, it is 7-10 business days.
So, we are actually only on day six now. I asked if we could have a check refund in four days if the refund isn't back in our account. The very quick and final answer was "NO - you will be refunded in the same manner in which you paid." OH, REALLY... well I am quite sure they had our money within a couple of days - probably hours. They have sat on this for FOUR MONTHS NOW. I bet we don't get our money back with interest!
I have heard horror stories from other unfortunate local customers since our little fiasco started with Ashley Furniture, Chico, CA ; people waiting for months for furniture and then having 30% of the purchase price withheld from a refund if one is requested.
I want to warn every single person who is capable of reading these words and might consider shopping at Ashley Furniture, Chico, CA ... DO NOT SHOP ASHLEY FURNITURE IN CHICO, CALIFORNIA. If you do, you better walk out of the store with your product the very day you purchase it - or it will be several months... if ever, that you might get to use your new furniture!
We are at week 15 now, no refund, no dining room table and really... I am not holding my breath for four more days, because with the track record of Ashley Furniture, Chico, CA - we will most likely be dealing with this mess for a while. Regrettable. Very, very regrettable.

Terrible customer service and awful quality furniture
Myself and wife purchased a bed room set from Ashley furniture. After about a year the mattress developed a stain and my wife started to notice bite marks from bugs. We contacted every one that we could from this company there was terrible customer service. To top it all off I'm still waiting on some one to come out to check this mattress after a month of the reporting.

Poor quality
I bought a sofa and 2 chairs in 2005. Sofa cost $1000, chairs cost $700 each. This LR set was only used when we had company in the winter months (holidays etc). When we are home, we only use the kitchen area to hang out, and in the summer we hang out outside on our deck. This past holiday season I noticed the sofa was sagging in the middle when someone sat on it. I took it upon myself to take off the dust cover, and found the frame was snapped. Not only was the frame snapped, but it was clear someone had tried to fix it. I can tell it was a repair because the screws didn't match. I called Ashley, and they refered me to the store. I realized I had purchased an extended warranty and pursued that only to be told it was expired, and refered back to the store. I intend to go to the store just for kicks, but I already know what the outcome will be. Bottom line, I was sold a broken sofa which was repaired. Any business that will sell you a broken / repaired item without disclosing what happened is not worthy of your business. Buyer beware.

Beware people
I purchased a nice black leather couch set (3-2-1) last August. After it was delivered we found that the leather quality was not great (to put it nicely). After about 5-6 weeks we couldn't hold it in any longer and we contacted Ashley. They sent out a technician who pretty much found the same issues that we found. Scratched leather, poor leather quality, non fills in the back areas... After talking to them again they said they have to send a supervisor out to look at it again. Also this person wrote down all the issues that he found.
After waiting for a week, I called Ashley again just to find out that they think that it is ok to sell bad quality. They told me that they will not do anything about it. I have written the BBB as well as the Consumer Trade Agency and I have contacted my attorney. I have talked to every supervisor or Manager in Customer Service. Unfortunately, I have no other choice than to sue them. I have a witness listening in when their technician was at my house saying that the set is not what it should be.
Very disappointing that Ashley thinks they can sell bad quality and then act like this in an economy like that.
BEWARE, their warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on!

Headboard cracked and delivered 5 times
I have a bedroom set delivered on November 17, 2009. Upon delivery, the headboard was cracked and sent back, they try have tried to deliver this headboard 5 times and still cracked and all your company wants to give me is a credit for 120.00. I am truly upset with your company and the way this situation is being handled. I have spoken to Michelle and she informed me that her hands are tied, and I truly understand that. However, I am not satisfied with this and I do not think I will be purchasing anything from your company again. I would really like a corporate manager to contact me as soon as possible. Complete nightmare
To begin, I went into the Fremont, CA store to browse for Furniture on 9/19/08. They annoyingly stalked me from the second I walked in, so I decided to let one of them show me around. I finally selected a set of furniture I liked, and proceeded to have them draw up the appropriate paperwork. Funny, I thought we were in the computer age ... It took the salesman OVER 2 1/2 hours to complete our paperwork (you would have thought he was doing it Fred Flintstone style w/ a hammer and chisel on a cement tablet, given how long it took!) I should have seen that as a red flag! The Salesmen ASSURED me it would take A WEEK AT MOST to have the items delivered (which, I'm now sure was just a sales ploy)! I received no call by the end of the next week so I got the number for the "Corporate Care Center" and after they found me in their system (my name was entered wrong)she told me they expected the furniture would be at their distribution center by that Friday and they would call to set up a time for delivery. I received NO call, yet again, so I called them, only to hear that the furniture had been delayed, and it was given a new arival date of the following Friday. I was very upset, because by this time I had gotten rid of my furniture and had nothing in my living room! After a lot of back and forth, she begrudgingly offered me a refund of the delivery charge ($129) I already had prepaid! I accepted that and waited. I was called at the end of the next week saying that they only had 1/3 of my couch (couch was 3 pieces, apparently it's delivered to the distribution center piece by piece). I told her I wanted what they had available so she set up a delivery for that Sunday. I was given the 4pm - 8pm window, so there I waited, and waited ... they showed up @ 9:15pm !!! I was now livid, but did not take it out on the delivery men, I waited to contact the "customer care center" but had to wait until Tuesday because they are closed on Sunday and Monday. They apologized for the late delivery and offered me a ($100) gift card ... gee thanks ... a gift card to spend at a store I hate ! I had to wait yet another week for the rest of the furniture to arrive at the distribution center and get a call ... for those of you keeping track this will make 4 weeks waiting on furniture that was to take 1 week ! Sooo, the woman at the distribution center gives me the morning window and they show up on time. As they are desperatly trying to lower my furniture off the truck (because they have no lift gate), they are scraping it along the back of the truck and lowering it to the ground with a thud; luckily the furniture appeared to be unharmed. They go to take the last item off the truck and I realize right away it is the same piece I already have, with the arm on the right side (unbelievable)!! I ask the barely english speaking crew to take it back and proceed to call the store I purchased it from. It is easier to speak with your local head of state, than to speak with the Store Manager, but after forcing me to act like a complete b*tch, they give him a message to call me. He does, and assures me that this is not the way they do business (yeah, right) and he will have it redelivered. This was not good enough for me after all the waiting and ridiculous service I had indured, so after a few threats, on my part, he agreed to take off ($185 - their maximum, he said) for the price of my furniture, and send yet another pathetic gift card ($100). WOW !! He assures me they will locate the right piece and deliver it to me in 2 days when the warehouse is open. That brings me to today - 10/21, this morning they show up with the SAME f-ing piece AGAIN, with the right arm rest, when I received a call that morning from the manager who was sure he had the left piece ( I made him confirm!! ) How does this happen ??? I call to tell the manager the latest news and he tells me he will make some calls to locate the right piece and will FOR SURE deliver it today ! I wait 2 1/2 hours only to be called by some flunky from the corporate center, who knew nothing about my situation or its urgency. She could have cared less when she told me they will not be able to deliver today and will have to bring it tomorrow (I have nothing better to do, but sit around waiting for them aparently)!!! We'll have to see what other insanity I will indure tomorrow ! Point of story, if you have been kind enough to read the whole thing - NEVER shop at Ashley or it's affiliates, unless you want it to happen to you! I have researched a great deal in my waiting around today, and found sooo many horror stories! God, I wish I had done my homework on this place! Lesson learned, that's for sure, and the sad thing is, I don't even have all my furniture yet! Who knows what else will happen or what the furniture quality will turn out to be! WHAT A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE!!!

No christmas gift delivery
I can't review the furniture because I still don't have it. I ordered it before Thanksgiving and was told the latest it would be in was 23 Dec but would probably be sooner. It is now January 4th haven't heard anything yet. I have been told that they can't do anything for me, because it is a tentative date. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift for a 12 year old. To add insult to injury I received a coupon entitling me to $100 off of the purchase of a mattress. I ordered a mattress with the rest of the furniture spent $2000 and they can't come deliver it and put it together for me since we won't be off next week.

Very unprofessional
I recently purchased a living room set from this place and regret ever stepping foot in their door. They were unprofessional from the moment I went there to look (I should have left then). They had me speaking to numerous people on their floor (all of which I had to explain the same things to over and over). After finally deciding, I placed an order. They said allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. It took 3 months and I still only have half of it. I tried to contact them repeatedly about the delay. It took 3 weeks for them to finally get me in contact with someone that knew anything about my furniture. To make matters worse this person lied about its arrival date twice. The excuse was "we're restructuring our scheduling department." When they finally had my living room set they called to say "miss your matress is in but the bed is not." What?! I ordered a living room set. The delivery guys finally brought the couch and were in such a hurry to get somewhere personal that day that they called me @ 7am on the weekend (after we had already established a lunchtime delivery 2 days before)to ask if they could deliver it right then because they had plans. Then, after waking me up early, they snagged the couch tearing the fabric in the back while shoving it through my door. I e-mailed the national Ashley site about my issue and they were no help because apparently the one I was unlucky enough to go to is privately owned. I still haven't recieved the rest of my set and it has been officially 4 months. Never NEVER buy from here. They adhere to their own unprofessional rules and only care about their own agendas. Plus the furniture seems a lot cheaper looking upon receipt than it does in their showroom (fabric comes out, scratches, etc.). Any concern is met as a joke and they have no respect for customers time. Plus you're lucky to get your furniture within the same year you purchase it. If they ever call again, I'm telling them to call back never...I'm restructuring my living room department.
