Ashley Furniture Reviews

Ripped off
I did my comparison shopping and went to Ashley Furniture in Arlington, TX. I gave cash of $2, 268 for living room furniture that was promised to be delivered in 10 days. Well 10 days has passed and guess what? No furniture. I called the 817 number of "the store" in Arlington..No it is in India with some rude non-English speaking person who couldn't find my order. Don't throw away your money. Do Not Shop Ashley Furniture. Learn from my mistake. I will never do business with any furniture store that doesn't have my furniture right then and there. Ripped Off...

Selling used furniture
My husband and I were in the other day after seeing the commercial for their big sale. We saw what they called floor samples so we sat on one of the sofas and felt between the cushions and I pulled out what was left of a sandwich so I looked further and found all kinds of crumbs, etc, between the cushions! Yuck! We were so disgusted that we immediately left. What they were selling was used furniture that was in peoples homes and passing it off as floor samples! They probably just forgot to clean up that one.

Crappy quality
Ashley furniture is of poor quality the customer service is an out right fraud just like their warranty. I made a huge mistake when I purchased a living set. The large sofa had sharp objects poking thru the fabric in a couple of places, it looked used the springs were of uneven height nad squeaked after 15 phone calls they finally sent some one to check it out but only after two more delays, they said they would fix it 3 months later I am still waiting, Seems like they can't the warreanty said they would fix or replace free, catch is if they can't fix it your set will no longer match or you end up with the crap only in a different stlye, While I was in the store there were more people waiting with broken furniture they ALL were told that the broken items were not in stock and discontinued DO NOT BUY FROM ASHLEY OR SAM LEVITS IN ARIZONA

Bad experiences
I think a lot of people like to complain about little things and exaggorate. I have bought all my furniture at Ashley and love it, unfortunatly there isnt a compliments website. I chose to have my furniture picked up, which they advised me to deliver so that it would be unpacked and examined before delivery, but I decided to forgo that, and my sofa table was very slightly damaged. The service tech came out, examined it, was very nice, and they offered me a new table or a refund. It was minimal damage and I was just being picky so we took the money.
We love Ashley Furniture and would recommend it to anyone! Allison is an awesome salesperson, she really took care of us.

WARRANTY
I PURCHASED OVER $ 5, 000.00 WORTH OF FURNITURE AT BRANDON LOCATION AND WAS TALKED INTO PURCHASING THE USELESS GUARDSMAN PROTECTION FOR $ 299.00 FOR 5 YEARS, HAD A CLAIM THIS YEAR, THEY SENT SOMEONE OUT TO LOOK AT IT, DAMAGE IS IRREPAIRABLE, WAS TOLD THEY WERE GOING TO ISSUE ME A CHECK FOR THE AMOUNT PAID FOR THE PIECE OF FURNITURE, COMPANY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS AND ALL ASHLEY WANTS TO DO IS REFUND MY $ 299.00 AS A COURTESY! A COURTESY? GIVE ME A BREAK! NOW I 'M STUCK WITH A DINNETTE SET THAT I PAID $ 799.00 AND CAN'T USE IT, I WILL NEVER BUY FROM ASHLEY AGAIN! CHEAP BUILT FURNITURE AND THE PROTTECTION IS JUST A SCAM!

Terrible company
11/30/07--5 piece bedroom set and 2 lamps purchased from Ashley Furniture. Total cost with taxes and delivery was $1760.05. 2 lamps taken home by me.

MID 12/07—furniture was delivered. 3 pieces of furniture had chips in the marble, splitting in bottom layer on both nightstands, headboard piece was very crooked and off center. I denied furniture. It was all taken back. Because I had signed the store policy that there was no money back, only a store credit, I had to use the credit at their store. At first when I spoke with Mr. Murray, he wanted to charge me a restocking fee, not full store credit. He did not want to accept the lamps back that I had bought for the furniture. Then, I talked with Mr. Blake, who agreed to full store credit and to my returning the lamps.

Throughout December 07 and into January 08, I was at the store between 3 and 4 times per week. I’m sure this can be verified by their salespeople.

01/21/08--I used the store credit for 4 pieces of furniture. One I had to pick up at the store because it was discontinued. It was scratched and one of the handles came off, so I was given a slight discount. I picked this piece up at the store on 01/24/08.

02/03/08—I went to the warehouse to pick up the remaining 3 items so I wouldn’t have to take another day off from work and also pay for delivery again. I picked up a console which was fine. I had a friend with me to put the 2 nightstands together. Each nightstand had 4 legs over 2 feet long each. 3 of the legs on one nightstand were the same length. One was not. So it wobbled. I denied this piece. When I checked the drawers on the second nightstand, the top drawer would not close all the way. When I checked the wooden piece that the drawer rides/slides on, I saw that it was on very crookedly. Therefore, the drawer would not close properly. I denied this piece.

02/28/08—Still no replacement. I stopped in the store to talk with Rhonda Hallesy, the salesperson I had bought the furniture from. She had no knowledge of the next delivery. She told me to contact the store.

03/03-04/08—I called the store and spoke with Rachel. She told me that she would get back with me the next day. She never returned my call.

03/10/08—I went to the store because no one had been in touch with me. Mr. Blake, who I was dealing with from the beginning of the purchase, would not be in until 03/13/08. I spoke to Rhonda Hallesy. She still had no knowledge of the situation. Mr. Murray was asked who Mr. Blake reported to so I could contact that person. I was told it was only Mr. Blake. There was no one else to contact. He wouldn’t give me the name of anyone higher I could speak with.

03/11/08—I called the store to find out who Mr. Blake reported to. Mr. Murray again would not give a name, saying Mr. Blake was the one I needed to talk with. I told Mr. Murray that I was filing a complaint with Consumer Affairs. Once again I was told to wait until Mr. Blake came in. Mr. Murray mentioned that an email had been received regarding the prior pick up of 02/03/08. I did not want to discuss it further. To this day, I have not heard anything more on an email regarding any of this furniture.

03/11/08--I submitted a complaint to the VA Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services--Office of Consumer Affairs.

03/15ish/08--Mr. Blake of Ashley Furniture called me requesting my cell number (instead of my home number) so the president could speak with me. I don't know why he couldn't talk on my home number?? Mr. Blake offered to return the remainder of the money I haven't yet spent, but I had to keep what I had. I told Mr. Blake that I only have 2 pieces of furniture right now. One of which is a piece that isn't in the group setting. It was pulled up on the original bill of sale on the computer by the salesperson because it was the same manufacturer. It was ordered along with the bedroom furniture unbeknownst to me that it didn't belong. I still, also, don't have the 2 night stands that I rejected on 02/03/08.

Today is 04/30/08. 5 months to the day of ordering the original bedroom set. Per the Office of Consumer Affairs, Ashley Furniture is being uncooperative. I have not been notified either by Ashley Furniture. I only had 6 months to use my store credit. It is up in either June or July.

NOTE: DECEMBER 07 I had gotten rid of my original bedroom suit for the new delivery. I have clothing and other items laying around my bedroom either waiting to go into the “new” furniture or on the “new” furniture. The other items remaining in my bedroom are in disarray because I can’t set it up without the other pieces. My bed is on the floor because I had gotten rid of the frame for the new bed.

I believe I have been beyond patient and understanding in trying to amend for the original bedroom suit. At this point, I don’t want any of the furniture. This furniture ordeal has been a huge annoyance and nuisance, caused disruption and disorder in my home, time and energy trying to replace it, pick it up or just FIND the furniture pieces. When I look at this furniture now, I don’t have the happy, excited feeling one should have when “getting new furniture”. I would like to be fully reimbursed, and this frustration be brought to an end. I’m sure the people at Ashley Furniture are tired of this ordeal, also. Really, I need to get bedroom furniture. I can’t find anything in my bedroom, and I’m tired of sleeping on the floor.

AND AS WE LOOK IN OTHER SORES WE FOUND THE SAME SET FOR CHEAP, WE WENT BACK TO ASHELY AND ASK FOR A REFUND AND THEY SAID NO, THEN WE ASK FOR A STORE CREDIT THE MANAGER SAID NO. THEN I ASK WHAT CAN WE DO TO SOLVE THIS HE THEN SAID THE ONLY WAY IS FOR U TO BUY THE FURNITURE, SO IF WE DONT BUY IT WE LOOSE OUR MONEY THEN HE SAID YES, DONT BUY FROM ASHELY FUNITURE THE DONT CARE ABOUT TAKING YOUR HARD EARN MONEY.

Terrible company
I got a sofa and love seat from Knoxville Wholesale Furniture they carried it in and left I found that it was damaged. I called the co. about this and they refused to stand behind the warranty at all. I tried to get it replaced all they would say was sue us we are not going to do anything. So I call Ashley Furniture about this matter and found out that Knoxville Wholesale Furniture is the store with the warranty and they would have to stand behind it. But Knoxville Wholesale Furniture will not talk to me about this matter at all. The sofa can not be seat on the left side there is no support on that side and there a big gap between the seats that you can see the floor along with exposed wood also. So I am writing this to let others know about the store to save someone from getting in in this matter.

Scammed
In May we ordered Furniture to be delivered from Long Island to Rochester for an August delivery. Because we liked the salesperson so much we did not want her to lose her commission instead of buying furniture in Rochester. Even with the 525 delivery charge added, the price was basically equal with Carle Place having a Memorial Day sale and Rochester not having a sale. On August 10th we call to confirm delivery, and we were told they cannot get anyone to deliver the furniture to Rochester at the 525 delivery charge. What the f**k. You made several phone calls before you quoted us 525 for delivery. What happened with that. OK so no problem. You messed up. You pay whatever you have to to get the furniture delivered. "No we cannot do that". You mean to tell me you did not know this 10 weeks ago. My daughter is moving into a new apartment in 2 weeks and you are telling me we are screwed. After dealing with the Rochester store. They came through for us. They honored the sale prices of Carle Place and they are actually taking over our order that is sitting in the warehouse. Carle Place could not handle it? Anyway my experience with Carle Place was down right disgusting. They cannot be trusted. We were lied to. My wife spent 3 hours on the phone making this work. They should have handled it. OK you screwed up. I own my own business. S**t happens. Fix it. You owe to your customers. They did not do that. Thank you Rochester Ashley Furniture. They came through and were compassionate about the situation. Go jump in a lake Carle Place Ashley Furniture.

Merchandise not received
I order a couch and a loveseat from Ashley Furniture in January, and told it was on back order but would be received in 6-8 weeks. When I called in March (because why would they call me?) I was told it was still on back order and wouldn't be in until mid-April.

Finally got the couches the second week in May (after 5 months!) after I called again. I was also told I would be refunded the $109 delivery fee. I am still waiting for this, even though I was told two different times I would get it.

Then, for some idiotic reason, I decided to order a coffee table and end table in May also. I should have learned my lesson the first time. I am still waiting to receive my merchandise. Now, I've been told because I financed through American General, who they no longer work with, I will have to file a complaint with AG to get my money back. I have no idea if I will ever receive my furniture.

My mom also ordered an area rug. She paid cash. She is still waiting for a simple phone call to tell her where it is!!!
