Misleading!
After reading quite a few of these complaints I knew I had to write one myself. I so hope that people will come here to read these comments before going to Aspen Dental.
I had changed dental insurance so scheduled a cleaning. I went in and after waiting 45 minutes, I was finally brought into a room to have X-rays done. I was then brought into a room which seemed more like a hair salon than a dental office. I got to watch TV while the hygenist poked around. I was still waiting for the cleaning...
After the "look around" and measuring the depth of gums, etc. I was told I would need 2 sessions of deep cleaning, I needed a cavity filled and my crown would need replacement. I would also have to buy this extremely important toothbrush...After TWO hours, and still no cleaning, and being practically forced to sign off on the treatments I walked out in tears and vowed never to return.
Went to my regular dentist and paid the extra fees as he was not one of the approved dentists for my insurance. The results...my teeth were fine ("You do a great job keeping your teeth clean"), I do have a tiny hole but it is NOT a cavity, my crown was irritated as I had a cold and the nerves in the tooth were hurting from the sinus pain.
DO NOT go to Aspen - they seem to tell everybody the SAME thing - we all seem to have horrible decaying teeth..

Gave false price quote and would not honor it
My husband went to Aspen Dental to get his dentures because when I called and got a price, I was told a set of dentures was $199.00 to $1, 300.00. The $1, 300.00 sounded reasonable because when I priced them last year at Denture Center their price was $1, 500.00. My husband had gotten his last set there. So if your best set was $1, 300.00 then I thought we would try your company. With our insurance our co-pay should have been less than $500.00.
Then my husband comes home and says the teeth cost $2, 763.00. He told them that was too much so they added coupons to get it down. But our share was $916.00. This is $400 or $500 more than it should have been.
When I called to complain I talked to someone that said they would listen to the phone call because they would want to honor what they had told a customer. I don't have who I talked to because I have a new email provider and lost all my emails. I received an email from her that the customer service supervisor had listened to the call and that I was told the price was for each plate, not the set. But I was told it was for a set of dentures. I asked if I could hear the call and she said she did not know if technology would allow that and I never heard back.
I have called back a couple of other times and requested a price for a set of dentures and was told $199.00 to $1, 400.00. One of the times was on July 13, between 2:00 and 3:00. If you call the toll free number (800)277-3633 and ask for a price for a set of dentures, you will also be told what I was.
I don't know if my phone call was was really listened to because they said the operator said the price was for each plate. But nothing was said about the price being for each plate, because I never would have scheduled an appointment. I would like someone to listen to the call and also hear if it possible.
I would like to have the $400 or so that I was overcharged put back on my flex spending account. This was money I had alloted for my own dental work and medical expenses for the rest of the year.
I fell like this is a scam to get people into your office. Why would people come there when you chage double what someone else does. If I can't get my refund, the $400.00 you have taken from me is buying you a lot more than that in bad publicity. Everyone I know will hear my horror story of dealing with your company. That's if they already haven't.

Over charging and cheap dental Work
My husband lost one of his front four teeth. We had heard about Aspen Dental being new to town and that they were taking new patients. My husband went there and and had his new patient xrays taken and a dental plan set up for fixing his missing tooth. They told him they wanted to do a two part cleaning, bridge work for the missing tooth, fill cavities, pull some teeth. etc. we could not afford all of that and were just concerned with getting the tooth replaced. We spoke to the office manager who told us about care credit. We applied and one of us was approved for a small line of credit. we decided to go ahead with the cleaning and bridgework. We had insurance and were told that the work would be submitted to the insurance, and that whatever the insurance did not cover would be billed to care credit. before we even had the first cleaning appt, we received a bill from care credit for almost the entire amount of our line of credit. The office manager blew us off and said we should make the first pymt while insurance was processing. My husband hsd his two cleaning sessions, and then went back for bridge work. When we arrived for the bridgework, another dentist, whom we had never met before, told us that my husbands teeth could not hold a bridge because they were too loose. He said that he had just looked at the xrays, and if he had seen them earlier, he would not have gone with the bridge procedure. We found out that the insurance had not ever been been billed for the bridgework, but our care credit account HAD! They offered a different prodecure instead, and told us to see the office manager about a credit. The office manager kept insisting that we wait till the insurance paid something. They went ahead and did the new partial mouth piece and said they billed the insurance for it. After waiting two months with no call back and many messages left for the office manager, I called and found out that not only had the insurance claim not been billed correctly for the mouth piece causing the insurance to deny the claim, but the office mamager had mysteriously just not showed up for work one day and all of her files were all over. I demanded that our file be looked at and a credit be issued. I finally had to call the corporate office after I was told that a credit request had been sent with a rush on it to be processed quickly. It had not been rushed...so I rushed it! You see, we had been charged late fees, over the limit fees, and finace charges on a balance that should not have existed on my care credit account. They said they would talk to care credit and get those waived and they did not. When I called the dental office to get a printout of the originally billed charges, the office personnel would not even speak with me..they sent a dental aide to hand me the paper...which did not show the charge billed for the bridgework. That all being said, the partial plate they made my husband broke not even 60 days after he got it, and the pieces were lost. Since we could not provide the pieces, they said they had to make a whole new one and we would have to pay out of pocket for the whole thing. So...the battle rages on..but my attorney will handle it from here! DO NOT TRUST ASPEN DENTAL EVER! THEY ARE FRAUDULENT AND SHOULD BE PROSECUTED!

Partials
I am SO upset. I finally got my permenant teeth through Aspen Dental and I have been in so much pain since the dentist tried to shove them in and the color isn't even the same as my regular teeth. I was sold the "best" partials they had and billed $1800 A PIECE for lower and upper partial and they look cheap and like I have a piece of plastic in my mouth. When I complained, I was told I got the best tooth they had and that the color was the same. NOT!! I spent so much money at this place and I am so not happy with the work they did!! Now I owe over $3000 and that doesn't even count what the insurance company paid them!! I paid hundreds of dollars for a deep scaled cleaning and my teeth doesn't look any better then before they did it. I would never refer anyone I know to this place. They change dentists every couple of months. That should have been my first clue!!

Uneeded terrible dental work
I went into Aspen Dental last year for a basic cleaning, and to discuss my options about correcting one slightly crocked tooth on my left front tooth. I had braces twice but it still was a slight crocked. He told me other than braces (which I had twice) my only other option for my teeth would be CROWNS.
I am only 24 at the time, thinking this was my only option for this type of cosmetic fix, I decided to go with this option (after researching this online).
The day of my appointment about 3 hours in (should have only taken 2 hours) he realized he didn't have the material he needed for my temp crowns (after he prepped my teeth) so he had to make do with some other type of material. After several hours of pain (this is after the location closed, it took that long) I looked in the mirror and started crying. I had never seen anything like it. The dentist honestly wanted me to go out the door and look like this for two weeks. The color of my two front teeth was pure BROWN!!! And looked liked the size of huge chicklets. I demanded he fix this ASAP (he didn't see anything wrong with them) so he told me he would call me tomorrow if he could find the right type of material. The next day when I came in the office all knew what had happened to me, and he began to "fix" the problem. When I looked in the mirror this time I was even more horrified, I understood this were temporary but they looked nothing like my teeth. I asked if my permanent would look like my teeth (assuming because this was for cosmetic reasons that they would) and the dentist just shook his head and said my teeth had been bleached before and were so white that no crowns would match that exactly color so I would always have darker front teeth. I just bolted out of there crying. If you know me, I NEVER cry... so I called around to all the dentists in the area and pleaded what had happened to me.
One dentist got me in that day and attemped to fix what ASPEN DENTAL had done to me. He said I would have been a candidate for many other things than braces and crowns. I was much to young to have crowns and now I have to live with that. Dr. Heinrichs did an amazing job and my permanents now look like my real teeth. He even uses my story when he has meetings with the board. Needless to say everytime I see an Aspen Dental I cringe, it terrifies me that people actually still go there and they haven't closed it down yet. I have pictures on my old camera if anyone wants to see, I am truly embarrased to show anyone other than my family.

Don't Do It
In January 2009, I scheduled an appointment because I needed three extractions and was hesitant about getting general anesthesia, so I called Aspen Dental and was told they will pull them under local. Great.
After calling me in to do an x-ray and check out my teeth, the dentist sat there telling me just how bad my entire bottom row of teeth are, which I already knew they were pretty bad but I did not need to hear his thoughts. He suggested the best thing would be to rip them all out and start again. Mind you, I was only nineteen at the time and completely freaked out, during which he told me he will start with the bottom and then with the top. After calming down from that statement, they brought me into a room to speak to me about dentures and pricing. The lady was pushing anyway possible to get me to agree with her that this is what I needed. After not listening and seeing the price, I kindly got up and walked out while telling them all 'nope'.
A week later I got my three teeth extracted, under general anesthesia!, and my bottom teeth, ALL still my own teeth, worked on. My primary dentist did not see a reason why I needed to lose all my teeth. I happily agreed with him.
A few months later, my sister went in to get one tooth extracted and three filled. They did what she had asked, but charged her for a surgical extraction when it was only a simple and for a cleaning. The tooth came out in full, root and all, and she has not received a cleaning.
Do not go to Aspen Dental. All they want is your money and don't care what they do to get it.

Extremely dissatisfied
I am an extremely dissatisfied "patient" of Aspend dental. After reading through hundreds of complaints which echo mine, I am going to make it my mission to bring their fraudulent and unethical practices to light and bring them down. Anyone with ANY inside info or complaint, please post it! Don't allow this criminal practice to continue. Class action lawsuit coming!
To satisfy the word requirement: Keep complaining, gather your information, keep records, keep a journal, take pictures, post your complaints, don't stop bugging them...whatever it takes. They need to be stopped! Six more words...medical malpractice and insurance fraud are serious!!!
