Horrible company
Aspire credit card company sent out a mailing called the 'Pay More, Get More' promotion - in my particular case they state in the letter that if I were to come up with $983 by March 14th, 2009, they will issue a credit of $655.

As I am currently unemployed, it took me some time to make arrangements to obtain the $983, but i was finally successful at doing so by 3 PM (my local time, MST) on Friday, March 13th, 2009.

When I attempted (at 3:05 PM (MST) 3/13/09) to use their web page to make the immediate payment, the web page said that the earliest date a payment would post to their account would be on Wednesday, March 19th.

I immediately called their customer service - I was transferred to a supervisor who informed me that they could arrange for the payment to be posted as of Monday (3/13/09) but that they could NOT guarantee that the credit of $655 they promised in the promotion letter would be granted.

I asked that supervisor to transfer me to their supervisor or to a dispute resolution supervisor. I was told that they would NOT do that, but that they would arrange for me to get a call back within the next 48 - 72 business hours.

I explained to the supervisor that I was on line with that the letter the Aspire credit card company sent me did not mention anything about the deadline being 5 PM EST on 3/13/09. Rather, the letter simply said that if payment were made by March 14th, the credit would be applied.

A charge on an old account being on credit report
Approx., 3 mo. ago a loan company pulled credit report and noticed a charge of $379.00. That bal., was applied to a new account with them, and was paid off. Now I have to get a letter to the loan company from Aspire stating that the old acct., was closed and bal., charged to a different account number and that account was paid in full. I've talked to customer service and they've told me they could help me but all I keep receiving is a notice of the newer account being paid off. I've had to talk to a 'so called manager' who also stated he would take care of it, and again received that same notice. I'm getting a letter to the credit report people, but in the mean time is there anything that can be done to get me that letter I need? I have a check from the loan company to pay that balance off, and it could be put into my checking or savings account to pay other bills, but can't until I get that letter. Thank you for your help.

Terrible company
My husband had an aspire account for 2-3 years. And today 12/11/2008 we received a letter stating that account will be terminated but was still expected to make monthly payments. My husband called and was told that company made a 'management decision' to close all accounts because of bad economy and that interest would still be included in payment.

So..they close a good account for no reason and then still expect a monthly payment AND interest. What a rip-off. Do we as consumers have any say in any of this. We are trying really hard to keep our credit straight since we paid off all bad credit last year and now this happens. What are we supposed to do.

All these companies are getting government help to save their butts because they made bad decisions to give people home loans and what not and now they are scrambling to break even. And in the meanwhile the 'good consumers' are getting screwed in the end.

Who's pockets are these payments going in? If anyone can help us we would all really appreciate any help we could get.

Rudest creditor I have ever dealt with!
I received a letter from this company, MCM on May 19th, 2007 on behalf of the aspire credit card company about a debt. On may 21st, 2007 at approximately 8:35 a.m. Arizona time I called in to respond to the letter.

The person I spoke with was so rude, that I did not get his name because he actually hung up on me. I tried to explain to him that I had settled this account on April 12th, 2007 and that if he would like I could send him over, meaning fax, the original settlement letter, the letter from the creditor showing that this account was paid, and the bank statement, if they needed a copy of that as well.

This guy did not even try and talk to me; he was the rudest creditor I have ever dealt with. I know that nothing will be done about it and another person will have to endure his brutal behavior but I have written all three credit-reporting agencies about how MCM conducts their business when it comes to trying to collect a debt. I am going to search to see if there is a complaint line against the aspire credit card company, and if there is not one I will be starting one.

I admit that I have not been the best creditor in the past but I have fixed my debt with aspire, and for someone to act the way they did in order to try and collect a debt, you must have a load of delinquent accounts in your desk because if I had not settled this debt prior to dealing with this individual. I would have shredded your letter, and said the hell with you.

I do collections and if I ever talked to a client the way I was talked to. I would not expect one dollar from this individual, bottom line if your in collections, and you have someone trying to explain to you that they have settled the account, or if someone is calling to resolve a debt. YOU LISTEN! And you do not HANG UP! On the person because whether or not they have fallen behind in their debt or are current, they are still a CLIENT!!

Sincerely,
A client you will never have again.
