Repair Issues
A month ago, my son's Toshiba laptop was sent to National Repair Depot (Assurant's repair facility) for repair. They replaced a mother board. We had it back 10 days when it broke again and was sent back for repair. They claim they had two bad parts delivered from Toshiba (I think they are using black market sub-standard parts). They have had it 15 days with no estimate time of return. Assurant refuses to replace the computer even though that is a clause in my warranty contract.
They are cut-rate sub-standard warranty people. Their intention is to ride out this contract to its expiration (9/1) without helping me.
I would advise anyone NOT TO BUY A WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE RIP-OFFS AND THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR EQUIPMENT. THEY SPEND THEIR TIME FIGURING HOW TO RIP YOU OFF!!!@@

Not willing to cover costs of repairs
We purchased a used motor home. In order to protect ourselves from unforeseen expensive repairs, the company we purchased the motorhome from sold us a $3700.00 policy from Assurant. Once we got the unit home, we had a local motor home shop thoroughly go through the engine, transmission, etc. There were several issues found to be wrong with the motor home. None of the reputable repair shops that we took the motor home to for repair would accept the job if they had to work with Assurant - reason given, they never pay up.
We collected three different bids from three reputable repair shops and submitted them to Assurant. All were within a few hundred dollars of each other. The standard shop labor rate in South Dakota is $110.00 an hour for work like this. Assurant will only pay $80.00 an hour. In addition, the time they were allowing for the job was less than 1/2 the time allocated by any of the three shops. We talked to numerous people at Assurant, never the same one, Supervisors were always in meetings.
We finally ended up taking the offer by Assurant and getting the motor home into a shop. The bad news is yet to be seen. Even though an Assurant Inspector has given us a "quote", we have to submit the final bill. Assurant will then reimburse us via a credit card. From talking with the shops who have done work with Assurant before, we will be lucky to get half our money back. Two lessons learned - 1) Assurant is a rip off insurance company. 2) Buy vehicles only through reputable dealers who stand behind their product!

Extremely poor customer service
I called Assurant Solutions regarding my 5 year warranty for an LG TV I purchased through Circuit City. We were struck by lightening in July of 2010 (2 1/2 yrs into the warranty) and requested a pro-rated refund, because the TV was destroyed. After faxing the requested information 4 times, numerous hour long phone calls, it is now January 2011 and I still do not have my refund. I did speak with Customer Service Representatives that tried to help me, but they are not provided access to the information they need to help. The supervisors that I spoke with were rude and had no desire to help me. I won't give up on getting what's owed to me, but I will never purchase another warranty through Assurant Solutions. It has been the worst Customer Service experience I've ever had.

Billing issues
I again have received an invoice which again shows I owe more that I actually owe.
1. Invoice date 8-19-2010 - shows contract amount $1, 058, 370.95 and a payment due of $88, 180.82 - all this for GE Appliances.
2. Invoice date 8-23-2010 - shows contract amount $894.65 which is the correct contract amount and a payment due of $74.54 which was paid.
3. Invoice date 9-9-10 - shows contract amount $894.65 but a payment due of $223.60 which is incorrect and I spoke with Mir at Assurant and he advised that I only owed a payment of $74.50 which I paid.
4. Invoice date 10-9-10 shows contract amount $894.65 with a payment due of $223.60 again which is incorrect. I only owe $74.56.
I want to know when this company will get their billing issues resolved because my calling them has not resolved the issue!

Computer Repair
I will add my complaint to the other ones on this site!! Assurant Solutions IS A JOKE! I have been on the phone with them four different times for at least an hour each time and the ultimate result of this time is NOTHING! The people I spoke with didn't care about their lack of customer service and I will obviously NEVER get my computer fixed. The first time I called I explained that, through normal wear and tear, my left mouse button was no longer working and that the space bar on the keyboard was broken in all but one spot. They had me send the computer to them. They sent it back unrepaired. They CLAIMED it had liquid damage which they had pictures of and, therefore, the warranty wasn't valid. My computer had not had any liquid spilled on it while it was in my care - the keyboard area was, however, incredibly dirty and sticky when I received it back...makes you wonder who caused the liquid damage. I will NEVER, EVER purchase a computer or any other piece of technology from ANY company who uses Assurant Solutions as their "warranty" company.

circuit city protection plan
Assurant solutions does not stand behind the warranty from circuit city like they claim to do on the website.I have a 50" plasma tv that has a "match head" size red dot in the center of it.They sent a repair tech out.Tech said panel needs to be replaced.Panel was not available anymore. They said if they could repair it they would replace it.After no call backs from them I called to see what was going on.They told me that a match head size red dot in the center my TV does not constitute a deffect and that a burnt out pixel is within the "manufacturers NORMAL specs"...What the hell?$200 for a protection plan for nothing..I have never seen a TV in the store that advertises "hey buy this one its has an annoying red dot in the center"They just give you the run around and transfer your from person to person, dept. to dept. And asked about a refund, they give you a P.O. Box # in the middle of nowhere and tell you to write a letter...Wow take peoples money and dont do crap for em.I wish i could run my business like that and still make $...

Terrible Customer service
Assurant Solutions is a joke. I've had my computer fixed 3 times for the same problem. Everytime they say that they are replacing the mother board but it comes back to me working and breaks again within a few months. One of the times I was without it for 2 weeks and it came back still not working and it turns out it was just the charging cord which didn't even require that I go without my computer for 2 weeks. This last time they said they would replace it but I'm losing the remainder of my warranty and getting a refurbished computer. I asked for a check instead because I wanted to be able to buy a warranty. This was all on October 27th. They said the check was mailed the 6th of November so I went out and bought the new computer expecting a check within a few days. Thank God I didn't buy the warranty this time because it is still through Assurant Solutions. I've now been waiting over a month and when I call they give me the run around. Now they are going to do a stop payment which takes 2 weeks then I'll have to wait 10-14 business days for the new check. I get letters from my sister in Iraq in less time than that! How they can expect people to believe that it actually takes 10-14 business day for a letter to be received is crazy. And they should realize that if it is mailed, it has nothing to do with business days because mail comes every day except Sunday and holidays. Terrible Terrible Customer Service. I've filed a report with the BBB, waiting to see if that does anything.

Awful experience
On September 23, 2006, we purchased a Gateway Laptop computer from Circuit City along with an extended warranty which is still in effect until September 23, 2010. In September of 2008, we had a problem with the hard drive and took it to Circuit City for repair. They sent it in and we got it back in late October, 2008. We again experienced the same problem on April 5, 2009. I called the Warranty Company, Assurant Solutions at 800-555-4615 and their tech support stayed on the line with me for over an hour trying to get the computer to reboot. He had me put in the restoration disk and after over 22 minutes, it remained at only 4% so he indicated that it needed to go in for repair (which I already knew having been through this before 6 months prior).
They sent me a box for shipping and Federal Express picked up the laptop on April 9, 2009 and the company received it on April 13, 2009. On April 20, I received a call from Assurant stating that they were going to return the computer to me unrepaired since it was damaged when they received it in their tech support office. This computer was definitely not damaged when I sent it to them for repair. They indicated that they had pictures of the damage and that I could receive the pictures via e-mail if I went to their website and requested them. I did that and did not receive pictures. On April 23, I received the computer back. When I opened the box and looked at the computer, I saw the hinge is definitely broken that connects the screen to the computer. This was not broken when I sent the computer for repair. I have contacted the company to dispute this damage claim and have indicated that this computer was not damaged when I sent it in for repair. Nor was it damaged when I had their tech support on the phone for over an hour on April 5.
Now, I have a computer that is damaged and will not be repaired by the warranty company for which we paid $300 for a warranty which was approximately 1/3 of the purchase price of the computer.
I have filed a complaint with my Attorney General's Office in the State of Illinois and have mailed it to them today. I have tried to speak to someone at their Assurant Solutions Resolution Office and am only given a FAX number of 888-342-6641. I have called their tech center three times to get this matter resolved. I want this computer repaired and brought back to the same condition it was in when I sent it to be repaired. I want the hard drive replaced (again). It is my understanding that Assurant Solutions never provides new replacement computers, etc., but only provides refurbished computers. I don't want a refurbished computer, I want my computer fixed correctly.
I expect Assurant to repair the damage that they obviously inflicted on my computer to get around fixing it and I want the hard drive replaced with a new part. Nothing else will do.
I just want everyone to know that this warranty company seems shady to me. Only my husband or myself ever use this computer. We take good care of our things and are not in the habit of trying to get something for nothing. By the same token, we paid good money for this computer and the warranty and we want the computer repaired.
I sincerely hope that people will be wary when offered an extended warranty being offered by Assurant Solutions. This company is deceitful and uses bad business practices. Our warranty is still in effect until September of 2010. Which appears to be useless since they have refused to fix our computer.
