At the Beach, Inc offers low monthly rates for upgrade tanning beds and spray on tans...if you sign a contract for a year. The rates go even lower if you sign a contract for two years. Most people who are looking to save some money end up signing a contract, NOT realizing that in all actuallity the are APPLYING FOR A LOAN through Affiliated Acceptance Corporation. Upon signing your "tanning contract" the tell you "You can suspend your contract at any time if you don't have the funds." They don't make it clear to you that there is a fee when you suspend your contract or tell you that there is only a certain amount of times you can do this. When I got pregnant I let them know I should suspend my account because it is not safe for a pregnant woman to tan. When the first 3 months was up they started taking money out of my account again. I went back to switch to spray tan only for $35 a month after doing that I spoke with my Dr. and my doctor was not sure if the chemicals in the spray tan would be safe for the fetus. I again called to suspend, and was told I had already used up my allotted number of account suspensions. So, I had my bank issue me a new debit card so they could not take $45.00 out of my bank account every month. Two weeks later I received a letter from a collections agency (Affiliated Acceptance Corporation) that I owed over $600.00 to At the Beach Tanning Salon. I called At the Beach Incorporated and explained my situation. I was told that since I was under contract I had to pay it, even though the services were never used.
At the Beach Tanning Salon has since halted contracts and now lets customers pay month to month. They still want me to pay for many months of unused tanning from my contract.
I know many people who have been put through At the Beach Tanning salons corrupt immoral business practices. They are expecting people to pay for tanning they've NEVER used. They suck young people in with their "low rates" and then destroy their credit and treat them like they were in a lease for a rental property & they DO NOT make it clear that what you are really doing is SIGNING A LOAN CONTRACT. If services are never used then a person should not be forced to pay. Especially pay a LOAN they never knew they signed up for.
I would like them to clear my name & other customers who were unclear about what they were signing up for. If they have since halted contracts why should people who signed up with them previously still pay for something they didn't use. I want Affiliated Acceptance to stop contacting me. I paid for ALL the months of tanning I did use. Now I want them to act as if I never existed, clear my credit, & lose my name. I think they should do this for every customer in the same situation. If they paid for what they did use & are being harassed for what they DID NOT use they should be cleared.
