YP.com
AT&T cold called me and I agreed to a meeting. The rep had me sign a computer screen as a pre-cursor to a "contract". He stated that there were other documents to sign before advertising began. He stated I would receive a contract (I had told him my lawyer would have to look over everything). He stated there was an opt-out. A day later I thought about it and decided to not go ahead with any advertising. I clearly stated this in a written email. It took several days for them to respond and the rep then said my cancellation was too late. They said I would get to approve the ad before it went live, which I did not get to. They used a tracking number instead of my phone number, which they did not have my permission to do (and had told me I would have to sign documentation to allow them to do this). It took months for me to get a copy of the "contract" (where they took my signature and placed it in a document that I did not receive). By ten I had been getting dozens of calls attempting to collect money from all over the country. I received calls with different bill amounts (one being half of what the alleged contract stated - which was 4 times the amount originally pitched). This started a 6 month (and counting) process of speaking with all kinds of different reps, none of which had any power to do anything. I left many messages for the people who supposedly could help. Never once were my calls returned. I offered to agree to the lower plan but no one I spoke with (dozens of reps) could do anything. I have started to get computer generated harassing phone calls from a collection agency on AT&T's behalf. They have also not done anything to resolve the matter. I did not want to advertise with AT&T to begin with and now I will never advertise or do business with any organization that speaks of a "contract". I received no benefit and certainly no income from them. What kind of a business has to strong-arm and force people to work with them who don't want anything to do with them?

yp.com
I have been with yp.com for 3 years, and have been for the most part satisfied. But I have felt that with the new format it was over priced. Now that at&t took over they have new pushy sales people that are trying to strong arm businesses into there new higher priced contracts. I am trying to get out the new contract, after I figured out that I was getting less and paying more per month. My contract was signed last week and was told I was not able to get out of it. To go back to my old contract they want more money. Do not deal with these people.. They will rip you off.

what can't I complain about with them??
Well, it looks like we were also a victim of ATT ad solutions. Same thing as everyone else, We never authorized the web page that they made for us, yet it went online and they decided to charge us an extra $50 for putting it online a day early. They told us we would have at least 40 calls per month. I think we got 2 calls last month, 1 person couldnt afford our services and the other just wanted to know where we buy our product. Havn't got a single job from them, yet they keep charging us $850/month. Our website is still not right, we never did approve it, have emailed pictures to 3 different people but they never seem to get them. What a scam. When we do get ahold of the people who taked us into this, they always say that they will get right on it and make it right...never do. I don't know what to do...finally put a stop payment on them, we will wait and see what happens next. Would love to sue these bastards but I'm guessing ATT has more money than I do.

Renewed Ad for Additonal Year w/o sending written notice
I had previously worked with a representative, who would come around every year. Due to the fact that I was not getting results, I reduced my ad to just a plain listing. Apparently, since I was no longer a large account, I didn't receive a visit from a representative the following year. Instead, they relied upon the automatic renewal provision of the contract. However, said provision states that they have to send you written notice prior to renewing. I never received said notice. I requested a copy and they have failed to provide it. I'm curious to see if this has occurred to anyone else. I'm an attorney, and this may be a good class action lawsuit.

Misleading and Deceptive
In October 2010 I posted a “free” ad on the yp.com for my area where I live. I received a unsolicited phone call from multiple sales representatives, after the third time, I decided to hear the sales representative out her name was Donna M Allen, with a lot of reservations in mind she told me all the benefits of having a listing with them. Later that day, she faxed me a contract for a three month free trial for print and online advertising. To my surprise she decided to record my voice for an authorization for the online advertising, after she told me while not being recorded that there is a free trial, but when she did the recording she was reading from a script, but did not allow me to ask any question while the recording was going on. After a few days what she did was she trapped me into a long year contract after she “understood” what I was concerned with but she did not care, I was trying to cancel the advertising two day after it all took place. When I tried to contact customer service trying to cancel out everything they told me that they have no record of my account in their system, I did this numerous times, later in November I received a bill for services that I was trying to cancel but they did not cancel or do anything about it, until I started to get top level managers involved to reverse and cancel the contract. It took a few months to stop the billing and contract, finally I was able to cancel everything but it took way too long for it to happen, later to have $39.14 bill for 15 days of advertising, now at this time in January 2011, the phone service representative stated to me that I did not contacted them before the advertisement when live, but I have contacted them a dozen or so times to stop everything and I thought that they were notating every call I made, but now to realize they did not do any kind of documenting, they said that I wanted to cancel everything after I received the first bill, but that was not true because I called them many times before I received a bill from them. I do know for a fact that they do a lot of un-kosher and unethical sales practice to deceive me and put me into a contract to cost me so much money in the long run that I can not able to afford it. They are simply a bad company to do business with and advertise with, its just best to find other advertising methods. Simply put DO NOT ever use them they will lie and cheat to get a sale from you. They are a DANGEROUS company (a predator) looking for easy prey (you that is) to dine on.

misrepresented/poor response
Our advertising rep led us to believe that by allowing them to set up a landing page for us, we would be searched through Google, Bing, and Yahoo. This isn't true. She also promised that we would receive much more traffic to our site and an increase in business as they have a dedicated staff who does nothing but monitor keywords. etc., to keep us "above the fold" on an internet search. None of this has been true. In fact, our response rates continue to decline from month to month. The money we spend through AT&T on-line advertising has been completely wasted.

This is a fraud
To Whom It May Concern, in the month of May 2010, Ettel Palomata from AT&T Advertising Solutions talked me into advertising on yellowpages.com. Right away he made sign a contract. He said AT&T would make a demo ad so I could get an idea of what I wanted. They made the ad and there were just a few minor changes that needed to be made. I told the web designer I wanted the pictures changed to the ones I had supplied through email. I also told him that the date needed to be changed. The ad said that I've been in business since 1988 and the correct year is 1982.
I also told Ettel that I needed to postpone making the ad until July due to financial reasons. I was diagnosed with skin cancer during this time. But despite my request, they ended up posting the ad in June. The date in the video was still wrong and none of the pictures had been changed. So not only was my request to postpone the ad rejected, the information and all of the pictures were still wrong. So I've been getting charged $465.00 a month for this botch ad. All I'm asking is for some way out of this contract and a refund for the amount that was charged to my credit card each month.
My name is Michael Sherwood (The Pro Extractor) and if anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Times are too tough right now for me to be going through this mess with this company. I will send a copy of this letter to other agencies as well.

Won't cancel Ad contract
Last year I spoke with someone on the phone from AT&T and THOUGHT I had cancelled my yellow pages contract as the cost didn’t justify the business received. When collections began calling they referred me to the tiny print in my couple of year old contract stating cancellations must be in writing. Collections gave me an email address to send my cancellation letter to. I promptly sent the email with the cancellation notice, sucked it up (even though the AT&T rep didn’t advise me during the phone call to do it in writing) and have paid the bills for 2009 contract. I just received another automatic renewal notice. I forwarded a copy, to the email I used last time, of the renewal notice, noting on it contract had been previously cancelled and I do not want. I also mailed a copy today (my contract states you have 14 days from date of notice).

can't get a customer care rep. on phone
All year long I paid my yellow pages advertising bill by phone. They had no way to pay on line. Go figure!
Now I can not get trough on the phone but get a message that as of Dec. 28th the bill pay feature is no longer available. I'm told to call 877-573-2597 but when I do I cannot get a live customer service rep. I am eventually sent to the message that says call the number I had just called.
