Email
AT&T.net i.e. my.yahoo.com is the most pathetic email service ever conceived by man. The most unfriendly, slowest, unresponsive, slow, ad laden mail server service on the planet.

Out Sourcing of Support
Out Sourcing of Support is VERY POOR. Trying to discuss services with people who cannot speak English is impossible. Thanks AT&T for sending our jobs overseas and make it difficult for your customers to receive decent service. This is a great way to lose customers.

phone
On December 29, 2010 I placed a call to Ms. Barnes in the Business dept to have my business phone moved to my home and become a 2nd phone line for fax machine. (my business was disbanding). I was assured that this serviced would be turned on no later than noon on January 14, 2011 and the old number would not be disconnected before the move.
On January 7, 2011 I called again to make sure everything was a go and spoke with Nina who also got Dory on the line. They assured me that the number was set to moved and it would take place on Jan 13, 2011 and explained the charges to me.
Well, on Jan 13, I phone At&T because the old location was showing busy signal but still no line at the new location of my home. I spoke with Jason who not only guaranteed me that it would be working, but talked me into doing direct tv. After waiting again for several more hours I still did not have the 251 633-8266 number working for 2nd line, I called back. This time I got Mr. Bennett in LA. Well, Mr. Bennett decided that it was best if I canceled my direct tv and did U Verse with AT& T because of the promotion of the 2nd line. So I did with the understanding and guarantee that the line would be working the day 14th. Well, guess what it did not. On the afternoon of the 14th I called back and spoke with Linda in the DSL dept in West Virgina #N1DFTDK3 and she assured me that if I would be patient it would be up and running on the 20th, the same day as the U Verse and she waived the charges of moving the phone and hook up during th conversation due to the fact this had fallen under At&t fault and not mine.
Now, Today 20th U Verse shows up and hooks up everything and gives my 2nd line an entire different phone number. My second line was to be 251 633-8266 as promised since the 29th day of Dec because that has always been my old office number and I was able to move it with no problems guaranteed. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS and now I am being told that I cannot have my number back because AT&T disconnected it before putting it to the new location. And then on another call we were told we had to win the number back. Then on another call with the tech here today I was told that I had to pay a bill of the disconnect and move before I could get the number that was to be here, and then there would be no guarantees.
WHAT IS THIS MESS???????
I want the number I have always had for my second line and I want it ASAP. I want the fees to be waived just like I was told to due to your errors.
As of today I have spoke with 20 different AT&T people on the phone and had one tech at my home for 9 hrs and still no correct phone line.
Please help me ASAP. HELP ASAP!!!

AT&T scammed me for $1600
I signed up for AT&T to create a website. They wanted $1600 to start and told me I could pay by credit card or be billed on my phone bill. I opted out for the phone bill and paid them $1600 that way. I heard nothing more. Phone calls weren't returned and the usual deadbeat stuff.

I finally got a human who told me the $1600 was refused when they ran my credit card. I told her that I paid with my phone bill. Months of nothing and and unreturned calls. Finally I got through to another human who told me I had missed the deadline to get a refund by three days. This is obviously BS.

I went with AT&T because I thought they were reputable and would do a good job. Not only did they want me to do all the work, which I thought I hired them for but they didn't bother to call me when my credit card was "refused". Further I have no record of this supposed refusal. I don't remember giving them my number and doubt I did, no reason to. I have since heard other stories about AT&T's tactics and I suspect I was scammed by a dishonest company.

I am not giving any personal information for fear of retaliation.

bad customer service
I had AT&T internet, and when I moved, I cancelled my account and signed up for AT&T U-verse internet and cable. The next month, my account was charged for the internet that I had cancelled. I called them and they said that they would take the charges off, but when that did not happen, I disputed it on my credit card. The next month, I was charged again!! So I called again and talked to 5 different people in 45 minutes. They could not pull up my account with the phone number I had given them (although that same number was listed on the account when they finally did find the account, they had the wrong previous AND current address, and said that a check was in the mail to me (going to the wrong state) for only 1/2 of 1 months payment. Finally when I talked to someone in the U-verse department that was in the same area as me (Chicago), he was able to credit my account and fix the problem within 5 minutes. Than you John for spending 5 minutes solving the problem when no one could do anything but transfer me to someone else.

Difficult Equipment Return
I ordered high speed internet from AT&T Uverse at the end of November 2010 . I canceled the installation of AT&T internet 1 business day after setting it up. Within 2 days of cancellation, I received the hardware for installation- which cost over $100.00 and which I was told I would receive a $75.00 credit for.
I mailed the hardware back to AT&T via their enclosed return labels. Although I have had extensive experience shipping through various carriers these labels were EXTREMELY uninformative as to the carrier and I saw no tracking data. I dropped the package off at my local post office to an agent and they also could not tell it was not for them. I received a bill for 105.10 in January and called Uverse billing support and was told they had not received the return and I would be held responsible for it if they did not receive it. I was also told that they deal exclusively with UPS for shipping- this was NOT CLEAR on the label. I have seen other reviews saying that even with the tracking info, people are still being held responsible for the amount of the hardware returned to AT&T. These practices seem like a very good way for AT&T to make a bit of extra revenue off their customers who cancel, AT&T should be aware that they are alienating their customers as well.
BEWARE of subscribing to this service which requires you to purchase hardware outright. It seems to me that AT&T is getting tricky with returns as well. Based on the shipping labels I received, I don't really think they wanted the equipment returned to them. It seems they would rather have their customer on the hook for the amount of the "returned" hardware than actually getting it back.

THIRD party billing
AT&T charged me on Sept. 27, 2011 billing $14.95 for a company named TRSCN CLRNG.
I received no product or services from this TRSCN company. Yet, AT&T conspired with them to charge a loyal customer for a false claim.
I called TRSCN, Phone # 1-877-257-2455, call ref.# TC101820, they said that a refund will appear on my AT&T bill.
Four billing statements later, Jan. 15, 2011, AT&T has not refunded my money.
AT&T have acted disrespectful, unethical, and arrogant by joining with TRSCN against their customers.

Service and Billing
I called back in September to add DSL service to my account. I was told by the rep that she could add call waiting and caller id and it wouldn’t increase my bill. I agreed to add both services. I then received the bill in October and noticed a charge of over $14 for the call waiting and caller id. I called customer service and explained that I was misled about the cost of the call waiting and caller id and that I did not want either service (I only added them because the previous rep said they would not increase my bill). Instead of removing the 2 services, apparently this second rep changed my phone service from the limited local calling plan to the complete choice plan. I did not request that he do this and he did not explain that was what he was doing. He also agreed to waive both sets of fees. I then checked my bill online and noticed that both sets had not been waived so I called again. I spoke to another rep who eventually agreed to waive the second set of fees. He also removed the call waiting and caller id features and switched my service back. I then received notice in the mail that there was a fee for changing the phone service. I called AT&T again and spoke with a manager. I explained to her that I did not request for my phone service to be changed and the experience I had with the caller id and call waiting. She stated that there was no additional fee. I then got the new bill and saw that I was charged a fee for changing service. I called back and eventually got that fee waived. I finally decided to cancel my service because I was dissatisfied with the company. I asked for both my phone and internet service to be disconnected on 12/31/10. By the way, I was also told by that rep that my phone service had not been switched back to the limited local calling plan. I received an additional bill which I paid and then I received another bill with a credit for the phone service and a full month charge of $14.95 for internet service from 12/27/10-1/26/11. I called the AT&T and the rep said the internet service was disconnected on 1/6/11 and that he would waive the additional charge.

Home Phone Service
I requested AT&T remove all the extra services exept the package that would give me local phone service (unlimited) and Call Waiting ID for $23/month. This also removed my unlimited long distance (which had been grandfathered at $15/month). They did not do what I asked. I received a booklet saying I have long distance at 33 cents per minute which is ridiculous as they have a plan for 12 cents a minute which does not cost anything. They did not give me call waiting but gave me three way calling and call return for which charges apply. AT&T is incompetent.

Constant Calling From AT& T
Since we opened our office in June representatives from AT & T have been calling asking to speak to the person who makes decisions about the phone lines. I have transferred them to his extension, and he has spoken to at least 2 representatives from AT & T. We are not interested in making any changes at this time and I personally have asked them to stop calling. The phone lines are very busy and the representatives try to keep me on the line telling me it isn't a sales call, etc. I do not have the time to listen to this and it is very time consuming to try and tell them time and time again that we are simply not interested. I would deeply appreciate that these representatives stop calling our office. I've asked that our #'s be taken off the calling list and when I did so ( at least 3 times now) the AT& T representative was rude.
