over charging
We were an AT&T customer for more than 5 years (with 5 lines total) and from September 2009-Jan. 2010 they were charging us over $500 for 5 lines and they kept saying it was because we were going over our min however we weren't and we were charged each time we called our own voicemail. We attempted several times to get this resolved without any luck. Since we were unable to resolve the issue we switched to Verizon. AT&T is now trying to say we owe $1300 for a phone bill and disconnection charges for 5 lines. This fee of $1300 was after it was sent to collections however we didn't ever receive a bill to try to pay before they sent it to collections!! This company is fraud and they are getting away with charging people WAY too much for not so good service.

Bad customer service
Have had 3 different Blackberry and all of them had problems with the ball.

This last one is a Blackberry Bold is a refurbished phone provided by AT&T .

The 90 day warranty has expired and when i spoke with them, all they want to do is sell me a new phone at $200.00 or get an iPhone at 399.00 plus sign a new contract.

Besides being transferred from department to department where no one can help you.

Customer service is terrible. As soon as another company gets the iPhone, I am sure AT&T will lose a lot of customers. I have been with AT&T for several years.

Cell phone charges
I recently went on a 3 day cruise. Before the cruise, I called AT&T and purchased an international roaming calling plan for my cell phone. I recently returned from the cruise to find that I have been charged about $1200 for the cell phone calls I made during a 3 day cruise! I am horrified that this sort of blatant fraud and abuse can take place. Is there any legal remedy open to me? Thanks very much.

Contracts
My teenagers trade cell phones with their friends from time to time and one of them acquired a smartphone about a year ago. He had been using it without incident for several month when I received a text stating that AT&T had added a data plan to his phone. He had used no data and just used the phone to text. He has no interest in surfing the net on a tiny phone. I called att and they removed the plan. He stopped using the phone for a while then started again recently. I again received a text stating that a data plan was added. I called and had it removed only to have it replaced several hours later. When I called again, they said that it was required and they would not remove it. The contract I signed allowed a texting plan instead of a data plan. I didn't renew his contract recently and they never asked me to sign a new contract. Watch this company. They obviously have no problem enacting new rules to increase cash flow. I will be changing companies asap.

Avoid AT&T all costs
I had a single line put in for a small business and was told it would be 39.95 for 3 years. Then I received a bill for $178! This included "installation" fees that I was not told about and all that had to be done was a line activated. There was already a jack and wire. Then, MY BAD, I sent the payment to my OTHER At&t account number by accident. When I received another bill and figured out what happened, I sent in full payment which was now over $240.! This was for ONE line that I had for only 3 months! NO EXTRAS.

I received another bill saying my number was disconnected and that I now owed $973.! I called and tried to work with them and get the line reconnected, but NO DICE. I called three times and spoke to two managers. NO ONE will budge or help and long time customer! They say I have to pay the $973. because I had a contract and the service was disconnected. If I pay that for the ONE LINE I HAD FOR 3 MONTHS then they would reconnect it and continue to bill me monthly for a new plan! I checked Vonage and if you get disconnected or end service early with them you only pay $75. for the equipment and a $29. disconnect fee. I could live with that, but $973.! And they won't work with me AT ALL.

The DSL sucks too by the way. Always going to low speeds when I'm paying for a higher speed.

Can not keep phone number
AT&T advertises that when you move you can keep your home phone number. Well that didn't happen by AT&T.
When I bought my home, I wanted to keep my number since I had used it for several small businesses and all my business cards had it.
I was told that because I am moving to a different hub that I could not bring my number...not even for a fee.
Well I was moving 8 miles SW of where I was...still in the same county, just a 9 minute drive.
Well no-can-do is the message I got again and again... SO I called Vonage and they said SURE
Well I have had Vonage for my home phone now since October 2008 and have had absolutely no problems..
...that is unless the internet goes down which is still, for about the next month, serviced by AT&T

Go with Vonage...great service, you can take it anywhere (just unplug & replug
When my home phone rings...so does my 2 cell phones and any other phones I want (up to 8)
Voicemail is sent to my email so I can check it over the phone, through my email or on the vonage website.
Check in & out phone records for many many months...and you can even block caller ID refusals
All for a very low price...I paid a year in advance for $19/month and now it's even less.

Let AT&T go down, they don't care about the customer, just the dollar

And this is NOT my first complaint

I have missed a whole day of work because at&t reps have lied and haven't provided me with the service they promised
Scheduled appt with at&t on April 1, 2010 to have a jack installed and was informed that I would have scheduled appt between the hours 8am-12pm I have spoke to 9 different Reps at at&t today and nobody provide me with customer service. I was transferred to several different departments and still didn't get any good customer service. I have called at&t 10 times today and the last rep than informed me that no tech was assigned to come out sometime today between 2pm-5pm per Supervisor Beverley Jumonville. This has been the worst day of my life I have missed a whole day of work because at&t reps have lied and haven't provided me with the service they promised. I would really like for someone to take the time and reply or call me in regards to this because I am a loyal customer and have had service for a least 7yrs and this have been the worst customer service.

I am fed up with AT&T and am going to switch to another company
I owned a business up until February 13, 2010. When I sold the business, the new owner wanted to have the AT&T phone & internet service transferred over to his name. We had to fill out forms, have them notarized, and then fax them back to AT&T, so we did. If they were not returned by February 14, 2010, my form stated the service would be disconnected. Well, I just found out on April 12, 2010, that the service never did transfer, it was still connected and still in my name. I contacted the new owner and come to find out, when he discovered the service never transferred to him he (with no way to contact me) he tried to have the service disconnected and then opened up a new account in his name. Well, I spoke with someone named Ashley at AT&T ([email protected]) on April 13, 2010 who seemed really nice and helpful. She assured me that everything would be taken care of and back dated until February 13, 2010, but now she will not respond to any of my emails. I have called AT&T back and spoke to a lady who was very rude and who stated I will have to pay the full bill up until now. She finally rudely put me on hold and came back to briefly say a supervisor would contact me and that was it. Now I am waiting, for what? For someone at AT&T to tell me I will be paying this bill in full. This bill of which I have had no knowledge of. I am outraged. I currently have my home telephone service and internet with AT&T as well as three mobile phones that all average around $500 a month. I am fed up with AT&T and am going to switch to another company. Maybe Comcast for home phone and internet. I hear Verizon treats their customers good as well. AT&T no longer has my respect after this fiasco. If anyone knows what is left for me to do, then please help!!!

Truth in advertising
I can't believe that AT&T keeps showing that they cover 90%+ of the US. They won't even do business in some states! If you look at their coverage map, they show that they have "moderate" coverage of most of the US, but try to actually get a phone in those areas. They don't sell them there because they know they have no coverage there. I wish there were a way to sue them for fraudulant claims. Most of the US would be able to get in on that one.
If your an AT&T marketing exec or spokesman, you should be ashamed for lying to everyone.
