cancellation and unexplained chgs.
Purchased iPhone for $500 after reassurances by at&t out-of-town location servicable by at&t. Rec'd letter a year later cancelling service. Promised to reimburse cost of iPhone. After cancellation, refused to reimburse anything on iPhone. Rec'd bill for $535.14 including chgs. for contract termination. Customer Service Supervisor promised bill in error and would receive reimbursement for iPhone. Another at&t Supervisor called several days later and refused pmt. of anything for iPhone and told us amt. due for month of Nov. $165. Awaited revised bill from at&t for explanation of increase. Rec'd no further communication nor bill from at&t. Without sending a revised and updated bill, submitted our account to collection agency, adding another $30 to amt. we had to pay. I believe at&t owes me a prorated amt. for my iPhone, and $30 chgs. paid to collection agency since they provided no warning, and a prorated amt. chg'd for Nov. bill 11/3/08-12/02/08 since service was cancelled by at&t as of 11/10/08. Service was cancelled because it turns out service was actually provided by ComCast and at&t supposedly had contract with them paying for our calls because we are out of at&t area. That contract was cancelled. Also, whenever we went to city where at&t provides service, we got "No Service" in most places. at&t handled matter calously, unfairly, and dishonestly as to promised payment and overcharging on Nov. bill.

U- Verse Custome Service
I have had to call At&t 6 different times and still haven't gotten my issues still aren't resolved.. here it is the story from the beginning.. My husband and I and his gran-ma all live together, his brother did live with us but he moved out.. Well, we have 3 t.v's and had 3 boxes. Well, when he moved out i called At&t to have his box disconnected, was told that it would be fine to remove the box and pack it up and send it back. Well, that is fine, I was okay with that. But then i go into the other bedroom and try to watch tv and it doesn't work.. Apparently someone at AT&T screwed up and disconnected the wrong receiver.. So here I am paying over $100.00 a month for my home phone and internet and U-verse service and I don't even have my tv working due to their screw up.. I am not happy.. So needless to say I give AT&T another call and am told that some one from technical support will be giving me a call back.. No one ever calls me back.. So again I call them, Pissed off by now...I speak to someone that doesn't speak english very well, and they keep putting me on hold.. I spend about an hour and a half on the phone.. 45 mins on hold. and get told that some one will be out here to fix it tomorrow.. Not a guarantee.. This is the worst customer service that I have ever had.. If i had a choice I would cancel and go back to Charter..Their customer service was so much better.. They cared and took care of the issues right then and there.. Didn't take near as long to get things done..

Rebate Cards
October 15, 2008, I purchased five (5) phones from AT&T in Tyler, Texas.
I mailed off my rebate forms and received text, saying that AT&T had received them and that it would be approximately eight (8) weeks, before I would receive my rebate. I finally received my rebate, BUT NO ONE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE (5) CREDIT CARDS. I assumed it would be a check. I have had hell trying to use them. I was told that they would be accepted wherever VISA was accepted!! That is WRONG!!! I have been decline at Whataburger twice. I would rather have a check anyday, then to put up with the BS with this rebate cards!!!

Awful company
I normally pay my bills through my bank automatically and I only check every two or three months to see if I need to increase my auto pay. When I checked my AT&T bill they had charged over $150. extra on my bill. I called AT&T (No small task) and asked what these charges were. They advised me that they were 3rd party companies (3 of them) for services.

I told them I had not authorized them and to remove them. They told me I had to do that and they gave me 3 phone numbers. The first told me they supplied text messaging. (I don't have cell phone with AT&T) I asked who authorized this and they said 'Terry Frazer' authorized it. I asked how could she authorize it without calling from my phone of have any of my information. They said anyone can do it on the Internet and AT&T does NOT ask any questions.

The second phone number was bogus in that the prompt says 'if you have a question about your bill press #1' When you press #1 the same prompt returns so the phone is useless.

I called AT&T back (it took a half dozen calls over 4 hours to get a live person) and I told them what I ran into on the second call and they said 'Well, that's the only number we have on them so you will just have to pay the bill'.

The third phone number promised to E-mail me a confirmation of a reimbursement. I am still waiting for that.

My point is that AT&T makes me jump through hoops to even access my account by phone or on line (which is understandable) but allows three companies to put large charges on my phone 'No Questions Asked' and without my approval. Then tell me it is my job to get them removed and ask for reimbursement. I did NOT receive a bill from any of the three companies, I received the bill from AT&T.

Unauthorized billing
My mother had a business phone line with AT&T which my sister helped set up the plans and services. When my mother retired I attempted to setup call forwarding for that business phone number. To my surprise a cryptically titled item 'SimpleLink Enhanced MMRC' changed from ~$8 credit to ~$26 charge every month.

I did not get the full story of what this plan/service was 6 months latter. Every month I would talk to an apologetic supervisor would would offer a few dollars of credit and assure me that the plan was terminated and the charge would not reoccur. Every month brought a bill with the ~$26 charge which prompted another phone call. Once they even suggested that it might take some time for the cancellation to be processed, suggesting that I should ignore the next bill and look for the charge to be eliminated on the following bill. All the while accumulating ~$26 a month.

I get the full story after I have the account transferred from my mothers name to mine, which seems to have terminated the program. In April of 2007 my sister signs mom up for this program that will provide the ~$8 as long as we are billing a minimum of $45 dollars, which costs ~26 when our bill falls below that figure. This is a reoccurring year long contract, which renewed for a second year in April 2008 after AT&T sent use a cryptic letter explaining what we had to do to cancel in February 2008. At that time I was helping mom with post brain-injury therapies. In May 2008 we reduced our service charges below this limit and incurred the charge. In October 2008, by closing the account, we were charged ~$26 for every month remaining in the contract through April 2009, ~$180. I doubt that my sister would have signed up for this plan if it was fully explained to her. AT&T certainly made no attempt to explain it to me during those 6 months, I suspect hoping to capture another year by running the clock.

Go Phone
I'm disappointed that I lost all my minutes. I lost my phone and wasn't able to find it until recently. Now I've lost all my minutes.

Unauthorized Charges
In reviewing my AT&T bill for landline phone services, I saw that I was charged for “Voicemail Mo. Fee”of $19.95 as a third party charge from Advance Benefits, Inc. billed by Enhanced Services Billing. I did not authorize this charge and did not have any voicemail service. Rather I have always used a telephone answering machine to retrieve messages. The unauthorized charge has appeared on both my Nov. and Dec. bills.

In reviewing my AT&T bill for landline phone services, I also saw on the same bill a charge for “InternetAccessMoFee” of $14.95 from Transcendent Corp also billed through Enhanced Services Billing. I did not authorize this charge and I use another internet service so I have no need for a second internet service. The unauthorized charge has appeared on both my Nov. and Dec. bills.

When I complained to AT&T about both charges the AT&T phone rep advised that AT&T could not reverse the charges and my only recourse was to complaint to the Advance Benefits and Transcendent Corp.

Overcharged
Many months ago I was checking my phone bill only to find that two different companies or scammers had sent charges to my phone company and they in turn charged me. I never ordered either of these two services and was lucky enough to get them reversed eventually. The phone company reversed the charges immediately after I called the two companies. Now one of them is showing up again and I again called and gave them an ear full and they told me that I had ordered this service on the Eversave website which I did not. She said it would take a month or so to get the charge reversed and gave me a confirmation number. I don't understand how a charge only takes a few days to show up on your bill, but when it is going to be reversed it takes a month or so. They are listed in one place as ENHANCED SERVICES BILLING, INC., WITH A DIFFERENT PHONE NUMBER OF 1 888-298-3724. Watch your phone bills as the agent Dae in San Diego, Ca. refused to reverse the charge even after I gave him the confirmation number. AT&T is not watching out for their customers nowadays it looks like. They are fast to bill improper charges, but drag their feet when it comes to reversing those charges.
