Rebates
I switched my home phone, cell phone, internet and cable service all over to AT&T. The actual products are great, but trying to get the rebates has been a nightmare. They bait you with great incentives to move your service, but just try to get your rebates! I switched my service on 7/12/08 and 5 months later, I still do not have all of my rebate money. Then, on most you get a gift card, which I have has lots of trouble using...sometimes it works, but most of the time it won't accept the card. If the rebates are a BIG part of making the switch for you, DON'T DO IT! You will encounter mountains of frustration in dealing with this company...everyone is really nice, but nothing ever actually gets done.

Rewards Center
The AT&T Rewards Center has not sent me the $125 for Cut the Cable as promised. I have been trying to get this money for 6 months! I signed-up for new service June 19, 2009. In July I submitted the correct forms for Cut the Cable. I called Sept. 5, 2008 to ask why my money has not arrived. Kaliah told me that they will mail it out and I should get it in 2-4 weeks. October 8, 2008 I spoke to Becky, a supervisor, who promised me they were mailing it out. November 11, 2008, I spoke with another supervisor, Jaysa, who said that she would personally make certain it was sent out. December 8, 2008, I spoke with Jarvin yet another supervisor who claimed he spoke with Jaysa and she's mailing it out. It was a very strange conversation because he would not permit me to talk with Jaysa and he claimed she sat across from him. I told him that I would wait to speak to Jaysa, and Jarvin said that he could not allow that. He also told me that $125 was not a lot of money and I shouldn't worry about it.

Outrageous international rates
I placed a phone call from my business line one day, not knowing what the charges were. I reckon I should have checked the rates, but never would I have thought that AT&T would charge me $6.04 a minute!!! Are we back in the 1950's or what??? In the age of internet phone and globalization, I consider charges like this unjustifiable and purely a rip-off. I am going to check my contract right now and see if I can switch phone companies.

rebates/rewards
I, too, received a flyer in the mail in regards to the agreement that we had discussed over the phone--about rebates on DSL for the internet. Where exactly is this site that you can log on to in order to track your account?????????????? Jill Nelson

AT&T won't close acct or remove charges
I tried to open a home phone line with AT&T. The line never worked. I canceled it. The rep who canceled told me I would not be charged because it never worked. Of course, I received a bill. I have tried repeatedly to call and get the matter resolved. I am told I am being charged, that maybe the line is active and maybe it isn't. They keep transferring me to other depts, putting me on hold, and refusing to help. Yesterday when I called from our new digital home phone line, I kept getting a message that the 800 number for AT&T wasn't a working number! I believe they blocked my number! I am on hold now and can't get the matter resolved. How do I resolve this?

Scam and stealing
I had 2 phone lines with AT & T. In May of 2008, I changed one (2378) to another company, with unlimited long distance and cable internet, and use that one for calls. I kept the other line (9744) to use as a computer and fax dedicated line. The fax has no phone, and has been unused for several months.
The dial-up was also removed later. In June, ATT correctly billed 9744 at $13.40. In July, they billed $95.65. I called and challenged the charges, and discovered they were for calls made on the other phone (2378). I was told the porting might not have been completed, contact the other provider, and the billing will be correct the next month.
However, in July, the charges were over $200, and were drafted from my checking account. Again, the calls were ones made on the 2378 phone, and when I complained to my bank, they reversed the draft. I verified that the only device connected to the 9744 line was the dormant fax. (There was no physical way to make calls on the 9744 line.) I just got billed $374.87 for calls made on the 2378 line(in August), and a notice that the current month (October) has a bill for $134.
This is a nightmare! ATT is ripping me off, and I can't even understand how they can achieve this???(I'm a tech, and the inference of fraudulent deviant use of technology seriously frightens me... as well as stealing money needed to pay my bills.)

Rip off
AT&T bill contains charges from 3 different 'companies' we've never heard of; research proves them to be 'billing clearinghouses'. Read: these outfits bill you for services you never requested via your phone bill and AT&T apparently receives some kickback for same.
AT&T says can put 3rd party block on your phone, but that these thieves will just bill you directly. AT&T claims it MUST bill you for charges that are submitted to them and NO VERIFICATION of your ordering, requesting, whatever is required!
AT&T directed me to call each 'company' which I did and was told they would refund 1 month, (we inadvertently paid 4 months before we realized these extra charges were on the bill). Further arguing got them to offer 2 month, then 3 month refund.
I advised these people that unless a full refund of all monies robbed from me was not forthcoming, I would file a class action lawsuit. I recommend anyone similarly situated do the same. If you live in Alabama, contact me; if you live elsewhere, organize your fellow victims so we can end this outrage!
Other avenues I urge you to pursue: file a complaint with the FCC, Public Utility Commission, FTC, state attorney general, and your local BBB. Innocent people, like you and me, are being victimized and by the way, these people can adversely affect your credit which can have severe and long term effects.

Satellite dish collusion & price gouging
I relocated within San Francisco October, 2007 into subsidized housing that offered ONLY bundled Internet and Dish for television and Internet at prices higher that AT&T offers just a few hundred yards away because they were provided exclusive rights to provied these services to ALL residents in the development. Elsewhere in San Francisco AT&T offers many incentives for customers to switch from the exclusive cable franchise holder to Dish, but they have no motivation when they are guaranteed anyone wanting to watch television in this development can only choose their package. In addition, they offer vitually NO customer service and have many service interruptions that they don't explain, fix quickly or waive charges for. How can those many hundreds of us in this lousy situation get equitable pricing and decent dervice?
