customer service
After 3 phone calls, and roughly 3 weeks, to find out why my at&t internet service had not been installed, they finally sent the modem i had been promised weeks before, i am now receiving bills for a larger monthly amount than agreed to. the customer service i spoke to said she had no record of the first 2 requests for service, no record of the monthly amount i had contracted for, and no record of the lifetime monthly cost i was assured of. they conveniently have no record of the first 2 calls for service, they have no idea when my service was set up, no idea how i could have been told anything from the first 2 calls. They have that recording that says your call will be recorded to your protection, blah, blah, blah. It is the worst connection i've ever made with a corporation that supposedly provides 'customer serve and reliable info'. they absolutely suck and i have no recourse because they don't care about the customer. not at all. it's all about their power and at this point, i am ready to completely discard them for all services. i will use my company provided cell phone and find any other internet provider. i have no power to control their actions with me, no access to any government regulation regarding their practices - just the option to exit all their services and find other, hopefully honest, providers. My mother, who passed in 2004, said that at&t was devil, and i thought she was crazy - and now I fucking agree. AT&T is the devil. Someone please blob me and tell me some truth to keep me from going 'AT&T'. Love to all of you out there who suffer from this malady.

url for redeeming rebates nonexistant, and only one month given to redeem the reward.
When it key in the url given I get forwarded to this complaint site. On top of not being able to get into the reward center site, att says that I have only until 12/9/08 to redeem my reward. I should be getting rebates for signing up for att u-verse and for getting hi-def television.

Bad service
Today I have had 2 phone calls soliciting additional services. (I have AT&T so I know they can contact us even though we are on the DO NOT CALL Registry.) In the last 6 days, we have had 15, yes - 15 phone calls from this number!!! I have repeatedly asked them NOT to call me again, yet we are continually called!!

no website
It's true...there's no such website. But, I have a phone number from a rebate mailer I was sent in order to obtain my rebate. I hope it works as I am posting this on a Sunday and the rebate center is open 7am-7pm CST M-F.

Waste of time
All I needed is a payment history. I hold for 20 min for customer service to be switch for 7 min to acct. receivable. They can't help me, she said shes going to switch me over to customer service. I explain, they are the ones who gave me to you and I wait 20 already. She said ok hold on. Guess who picks up after 20 min customer service. They switch me to all in one whatever that is. They tell me to get it online. (as if I enjoy being on the phone, and wouldn't have looked there). It shows me my last payment only, I tell him. He says they cant help. I hung up.
A big company like this and the technology we have and I cant get a simple payment history. I am moving my business phone and internet service and home service. To think I was going to get internet at home with them. I cant even find a complaint area for them. They are not interest in making changes.
Waist of my time.

Awful company
My husband and I just switched and paid the cancellation Fee from Verizon because the customer service was bad and the iffy reception of the phone and we went to AT&T to purchase the new iphone 3g. Boy what a disappointment. Although the features are fantastic we cannot stay on one phone call without getting disconnected or hearing every few words that the person on the other end is saying.
Not one phone call can be a normal phone call. Updates do not work and we are left with this very costly switch for a phone we cannot use. Shame on iphone. Lost Business calls.

Scam billing
AT&T charges 18 dollars upgrade fee when replacing a broken phone, even though the contract is fulfilled and then renewed for another 2 years when agreeing to purchase the new phone. When I signed the new contract agreement on the electronic pad there is only mention of the 2 year contract extension. No mention is made of this 18 dollars when replacing a phone, and customers that were with Cingular before it became AT&T are not informed of this change in billing practice. It is in new AT&T contracts only.
This is obviously a revenue generating tool for AT&T. Finally got the phone store to remove the charge but the people at the AT&T corporate help desk were no help. Natisha (NS524N) and supervisor Rochelle were my contacts. Sounds like a good class action to me. Many people are being charged that 18 dollars without notice.
Wasted a lot of my time on hold with AT&T just to have them tell me there was nothing they could do for me. I was an AT&T employee for 15 years and have had wireless service since 1995, when AT&T originally bought Cellular One. That is the only contract I ever signed with them, and when they became Cingular they stopped honoring the lifetime contract that I originally signed. Now of course they are back to being AT&T.
The original contract was 15 dollars/month and free nights/weekends with 100 prime minutes. They discontinued the lifetime contract without ever giving the required notice, and I fought that one for many hours and much postage until I gave up.

Terrible experience
I purchased two new phones with ATT Wireless in the store on Fulton street Brooklyn New York. This was an upgrade because I have been a customer with ATT for many years. I didn't realize until I got the bill I was being charged for something that I didn't ask for. I went back to the store to correct the problem and the sales representative apologized and said she would correct the problem. When I got the next bill I still had the same problem. I was being billed for features that I didn't ask for. I called and was told that I would get credit and the problem would be solved. This started back in July 2008 I am still having the same problem, being billed for features that I didn't ask for.
When I called today October 26, 2008 I spoke to a manager April who said since she don't see any notes about me calling in to complain about being charge for features that I didn't ask for there wasn't anything she could do. I think it is unfair to customers when sales representatives don't do their job and document complaints because now I have to pay for the features that I have been complaining about for three months. Who can help customers in situations like this? Can phone companies do that to customers (charge them for features that they did not ask for and tell them it is not their fault)?
I have to pay for features that I didn't ask for due to the mistake of ATT wireless.

Horrible service
AT&T is horrible, I ordered phone service for my parents who live at the dead end of a VERY dark road, My father woks out of town alot, leaving my mother home alone. I ordered this service on Friday October the 17th, service was sopposed to be connected on Saturday (but of course it was not) so of course I called. The automated answering service led me on a run around and I could not even get connected to the repair line that is supposed to be 24/7.Monday at 5:00PM FINALLY a dial tone, by 6:00 PM silence, so I called again. 7:00PM service again. Tuesday morning my mother calls me and has to yell over the humming on the line, so you can guess it I CALLED.At noon on tuesday AT&T said that the gates were locked and they could not gain access, now here's the kicker my parents don't have gates. So after 3 hours on the phone and countless rude reps telling me that my DEPOSIT was non refundable, My parents now have a cell phone (not with AT&T) and my deposit is in the mail, we'll see how long that takes to get to me. I strongly urge anyone wanting home phone service to stear clear of AT&T, and if you have them GOOD LUCK.
