We had decided to upgrade to AT&T U-Verse and ended up having a very bad experience
We had decided to upgrade to AT&T U-Verse and ended up having a very bad experience.
Two weeks later they realized that they could not get the U-Verse to work at our house, but they had no idea why. Finally, today we got our DSL back.
Needless to say I am positive that we will be transferring over to Comcast. AT&T is a joke!!

Eight days ago our services went completely out
We've had AT & T U-Verse for about four months. Eight days ago our services went completely out.
We've had around 20 "inside men", "outside men" & other men of various level in the past 8 days all to no avail.
No one would give us an honest & clear answer of exactly what was wrong.
We've disconnected our TV & AT&T will be taking it out next week & another reputable cable company (that we had before) will be taking over.
STAY AWAY FROM U-VERSE & AT&T (if you can).
After this fiasco we will not have TV service for almost 20 days & did not have land line phone or computer services for about 7 days.
I feel like having an "AT&T Sucks" party.

Deceptive marketing practices
The AT & T U-Verse marketing personnel stated that the transition from DirecTV and AT & T home phone service and internet would be "seamless". While the television and home phone service transition has been nearly "seamless", the internet transition, specifically e mail has been a nightmare. We immediately experienced e mail problems, such as duplicate downloading of messages and persistent error messages when attempting to reply to e mail messages. When we called AT & T U-Verse customer service we were told that they do not provide technical support for user using the Microsoft Outlook e mail program. Of course, the marketing personnel never mentioned that the only way the customer can receive e mail technical assistance from AT & T U-Verse is to use the limited functionality AT & T internet web e mail portal. The AT & T internet web e mail portal is lousy, with little of the editing, copy and paste, graphics and other capabilities common to users of the widely accepted Microsoft Outlook e mail program. AT & T U-Verse technical support is more than happy to transfer the customer to a fee-based Advanced Technical Support Unit that will--for a fee--help the user sort out the Outlook compatabiliy issues. So, these creeps sell the customer a product that interferes with a perfectly functioning Outlook e mail program, and then want the customer to pay a fee to receive the help necessary to eliminate whatever compatibility issue they created. AT & T U-Verse should be prosecuted for fraud and deceptive business practices, for failing to make crystal clear to the potential customer that AT & T U-Verse will NOT support Microsoft Outlook or any other 3rd party e mail software. Had they done so in my case, I would never have purchased the service.

Signed up for U-verse, Landline and internet for flat rate for 1 year; after 6 months AT&T starts charging more; says the people who signed me up were only "contractors" and could not make that promise and they, AT&T, would not honor the promotional credit but would contact the "contracting company" to see if they will give AT&T the credit to give to me but in the meantime I have to pay the higher rate! Don't think so. I'm going back to DISH and dishing my land line, after 55 years with AT&T.

SERVICE
We had U-Verse installed a year ago. Had problems right from the start with phone, internet and TV. They have been to our home nine times and we have had to call them at least 20. The system randomly kicks computers off the system. Customer Service says it is the Gateway (has been changed 5 times). On site techs say it's the main box down the street. Last time we called service we were on the phone 5 and 1/2 hours, they managed to knock every wireless device off the system before they would put an actual tech on the phone. Have been calling and asking to talk to a supervisor for TWO months, they say they have to take a report and someone will get back to me. NO ONE EVER HAS. They only thing we have gotten from AT&T is a 60% increase in our bill. They are the worst.

Lack of training and professionism
I am an AT&T wireless iphone user, but never use AT&T other service before and I wanted to give AT&T internet a try. In the month of August, AT&T had DSL elite promotion for $20 a month, which I called to sign up at August 11th. However, AT&T representative told me my home address no longer offer DSL service. Instead, she promise $250 gift card for sign up the U-Verse internet service and $100 rebate for Modem. I believe what she said and agree to sign up without hesitation.
Initially, AT&T missed appointment schedule at August 27th for no explanation. I took off & loss a day's pay to wait for the technician who never appear. Finally, after persistent calls to AT&T during night, they finally sent someone and got it installed at August 28th.
Late September, I Received the first bill and found out the monthly price is higher than expected. Called AT&T U-Verse customer service immediately and was told they can not honor the $250 gift card promotion which was promised earlier. Instead, I was instructed to close the account, return the modem and ignore the bill I received since I am qualified for full refund. I followed the instruction and returned the modem, then totally put whole thing behind me.
But starting from December, I start to get credit collection agency call for owning AT&T money ~$180. I was very angry and called AT&T at Dec 14th. I talk with representative, followed by Manager (melinie). They agreed to remove $100 modem charge only, because I indeed sent it back by USPS. But they insist on the rest $80 since they do not have any record in their system that I am qualified for either gift card promotion or full refund. I nicely asked them to go over the recording of each conversation, and they will find the proof that I am the victims in both cases. "AT&T is large corporations and representatives do make mistakes, which we are not responsible", I was told. Now, I have no choice but escalate the issue. Hope it will get addressed by professional manner.
In summary:
1. AT&T either does not train the representatives sufficiently or they are instructed to mislead customers.
2. I get in-consistent information from every representative. The first person use $250 gift card promotion to sign me up on U-verse internet; the second person does not honor the offer but agree to cancel the service and give me full refund; The last person, Melinie, does not honor both offers, and insist I pay for AT&T's mistake.
3. AT&T miss initial installation date for no any single reason or call. I lost 1 days pay for nothing.
4. What I get is time and aggravation spent talking to representatives to address the issue.
5. Finally, I still receive morning and/or night call from Credit collection agency every day.

Can't take a order
I can't believe you guys can't place a order right. I ask you back in November to place a order. I received my u-verse and my internet but I didn't get my old telephone number back. Can't do nothin right. I'm pist You had thirty three days to make my order right. After talking to AT&T people they said my order was fine. I'm better off with the local cable company. I would have received my cable and internet complete on the 2nd of December.

Poor service, defective equipment
Switched from local cable service to ATT Uverse 2 months ago to save a few $. It has been nothing but trouble. System crashed on the 2nd day, 2 days to repair, worked on and off for a couple of weeks then crashed again, no T.V. for 2 days again. Crashed again this past weekend and still does not work. Customer service can not tell me when or if it will be fixed. Internet also not functioning properly, can't access certian programs as before. Spoke to a manager last night, very rude and could not provide any answers. Very POOR customer service!!!

i called about at&t u verse and was given a price of $68 - I called within 48 hrs to install and the service was then quoted $38 more-switch & bait practice. i FINALLY GO IT DOWN WITH MUCH HAGGLING TO 98 dollars. then when the installation guy came he said i couldn't have it and they were all wrong office with the installation price, i had to more fighting with marketing team. they have no communication or doucmentation what one said and then the other. The installer couldn't care less and i had a alarm system and they didn't tell me i need a regular phone line. i called within 24 hrs and needless to say i waited almost a month with alot of screaming.
i got the bill two weeks ago and it was outrageous 356 for month so again fighting with them. I left comcast for the poor customer service but i would go back in a heart beat because at&t u verse bills for every little thing and couldn;t care less about the customer.
i do have to say at&T CELLULAR PHONE SERVICE IS EXCELLENT BUT THIS U-VERSE IS A NIGHTMARE-----------------------------------------------------------PEOPLE DON'T GET UVERSE, STAY WITH COMCAST UNTIL U VERSE GETS IT TOGETHER MARKETING SWITCH & BAIT...HORRIBLE JOAN CHAPKANOV
