Atlanta Cattle Exchange Reviews

False Information by Rep.
The salesman lied told me that I could post date 2 checks to purchase 100.00 worth meat. They were post dated for Oct. 12th & Oct. 19th. They cashed both checks on Oct. 7th causing my bank account to be overdrawn. Thank you Nathan that sells in Mississippi for the cattle exchange. Maybe this company should re train their employees to not scam customers. I had several people that was going to buy from the company. Needless to say they won't be now. I understand they salesman trying to make his commission, but to put my family in a financial bind so he could collect his commission faster was bad business. Product was good but the services is terrible & misleading. I tried calling can't get anyone on the phone just an option to leave messages. I even left a compalint on their website and still haven't heard nothing from them yet.

High pressure sales /poor product
Do NOT fall for this company's sales' pitch and poor quality product. Unfortunately I felt sorry for the sales guy who convinced me that I was getting a great deal and that he'd done business with lots of folks in the neighborhood. The quality of the meat was poor and they would not return my calls to honor their "guarantee". I had to stop payment on my check and they sicced a collections company on me. Beware!

beware!
Do not entertain the thought of trying this company. I was solicited by a business man representing this company - very nice guy - sought out my house after seeing all the kids/toys in my yard - and open garage door! Smart business guy. :) Asked me what kind of meat I buy- how much I spend on it, etc... compared their meats to the organic, free range meats I buy and also said their ground beef was sirloin. Each piece of meat is vacuum packed and frozen. The burger patties are in 1/2 lb burgers but vacuumed together two in a pack for a convenient 1 lb of meat. -- this is how it was marketed to me - smart again--- busy mom with kids.

I was asked to buy a 6 box package for $350... don't think so. The guy was so nice --- I told him I would buy one box from him to try it. "they don't sell by the box " So, a 3 box set would only cost me $99. Reluctantly, I bought it. One ground beef, one chicken breast, one chicken "patty" that I thought my kids would like.

Upon browning up my first lb of meat for tacos --- the meat was 75% white gristly filler -something else that was chewy- the other 25% was some "kind" of meat but definitely not "sirloin". It took me 6 times with dawn (the detergent that gets oil off ocean wildlife) to wash my pan and it was STILL greasy. Gross --- and to think this is what I fed my family makes me shudder. Thought it might be a "fluke" - browned another lb a week later. SAME thing .

Next, we tried the honey mustard chicken breasts --- "not treated with hormones, not injected with marinade or saline solutions - the marinade will wash right off if you need a "plain" chicken breast" --- the chicken was tough, chewy, and leaked saline the entire time it was being grilled.

Never even tried the chicken patties after these terrible experiences. Afraid of what I was feeding my family.

Upon calling customer service - one person - she goes my Mrs. Robinson - she is also, conveniently the office manager - I was told I could pick out another meat from the brochure ---- which I still didn't have --- and they would swap out the box that I didn't like. (it's not about not liking it - it's about quality, people). She said she mailed me the brochure ---- It's june --- this was April --- never received it. 3 weeks after that original call... the sales man called and asked me to call him to set up a time to swap out.

I was on vacation. I called upon returning. 3 weeks later, he called me back. We set up a time for him to come over the following business day. Time came and went, no call, no show... still no call.

Called 'customer service' the next day to be met with "mrs. robinson" again ---- this is obviously normal call routine --- upon answering the phone, the staff is combative, rude, and downright unprofessional. It would be safe to say that these are the types of calls they receive most of their day. They are very used to the conversation I had with them and have all their "responses" nailed down. She hung up on me 3 times and then accused me of "harrassing" the operator because I continued to call back. Umm... hello. Yes, I'm going to call back. You hung up on me - 3 times! She talks OVER you, trying to strong arm and use scare tactics to get rid of you.. without resolving the solution. I was simply trying to get a name and a number of someone that is in charge of the customer service and office manager position. A simple request. Every time I asked for a name or number of someone that I could speak to that would be civil - she got louder and louder and talked OVER me and ultimately hung up on me. She says she's 30+ years trained in customer service--- maybe in a collection agency --- but not dealing with customers that "WERE" trying to give the company a 2nd chance - but that failed so simply trying to get their money back.

They want to give me more meat.. Really? Why would I want more bad quality meat? I simply want my money back. She told me "there was no way I was going to get my money back." ... Really? Okay - good luck getting any new customers. You might get a few but they CERTAINLY aren't going to be repeat! Isn't that what a consumable sales company is all about... repeat customers?

The owner Harry Peadon brags of his "millions" on-line - look him up-. He's trying to make it to the "billions' mark - good luck!! The only companies that have reached that mark - and stayed there- are ones with integrity of doing right by their customers, making a great consumable product that they can stand behind. We are talking about people's health AND their money. If you really want to make "billions" - how about a customer service department that is for the "customers" - and someone that has a tad bit of social, people skills and integrity.

Consumers are informed now---- it's not the 1960's folks. Too bad when someone knocks on your door you don't have time to go research the company - it's too late for me - I'm out $100+ but just trying to save someone else from losing money by trying to help out someone in sales. Never again...

Do not work for or purchase from them.
This is a company I made the mistake of Contracting with. They advertise jobs and salaries falsely almost daily. I worked with them in Cumming, GA for a short period of two weeks, and canceled my contract after some of the tactics I learned about.

This company routinely hires manager's and route sales driver's with criminal backgrounds, drug and alcohol problems, etc. I say this because during training, almost daily, their driver's would show up for work either still stoned, drunk, or hung over from the previous night. There is ZERO background checks on employee's and no drug screening, ever.

Their operation is to consign meats, seafood, and chicken packages to the driver's to sell door to door from the back of truck with a freezer. They charge the driver's a high monthly fee to use their trucks, unless they have one of their own to use. Driver's pay for fuel 100% from their own pockets. The salesmen/saleswomen (rare) use high pressure sales tactics to push the meat products daily on local communities at peoples homes or businesses.

The meats themselves are usually of good quality, USDA inspected. But, you could get older meats that are being pushed to be sold first. The average wholesale cost for most of the CASES of meat average $38-$68 for the driver-contractor. He then sells it to the public for up to $350 per case or more. They have a lot of room to play with the prices, but it is a huge markup.

At one time, when I was foolish enough to work for this company after buying meats from them, I didn't have a problem allowing them on my property and even in my home. That changed after meeting and working with the managers and owner's of the company. They had no problem bragging about their criminal records and time spent in prison, nor showing off the different tattoo's they got while serving time.

Since I live in the area of the Cumming, GA office, many complaints have been filed on this company by both former employee's (like myself) and customer's they suckered into buying meats at the highly inflated rates.

My advice to the public, when you see them in your area, meet them at the door with your shotgun and run them off! Or if you don't pack a gun, call your local police department and file a complaint. Under no circumstances, should you ever let them into your home. If you like the meats and the price, negotiate with the driver in your front yard. They prefer cash, and even though I've not experienced or heard of any problems when using a credit card with them, I'd be reluctant just based on the practices I saw personally.

They do operate (Barely) legally, and I can't accuse them of any crime. But think of the Used Car salesman and how you can tell if he is lying to you. If his lips are moving, he is lying. The same is true with the sales tactics of this company, and even what they say to potential drivers to work for them.

They have a huge employee turnover rate, other than the ex-con managers (Unless they get arrested again).

I often complain when I see their false claims on employment ads.

And for any of the Atlanta Cattle Exchange managers that see this posting, it's nothing I haven't said to your face nor anything stated has been falsified. You know that, and that's why I never hear anything in retaliation. You know me, my address, and the fact I have no problem shoving a gun up the noses up your crooked salesmen and driver's and telling them to get off my property...or else.

My suggestion to Atlanta Cattle Exchange. Stop hiring ex cons, drunks, and drug attics. Try being truthful to the public, and fair with the prices and the treatment of your driver's. Then you won't have to change the company name every few years.

For the public, I learned first hand why the sales staff had to travel long distances into rural mountain areas to make any sales. The local communities near their offices quickly got wise to the scams and people near their offices refuse to do business with them. I've only seen two of their trucks in this area in the last few years. The most recent less than a week ago.

The driver's have no issues with ignoring "No Trespassing" or "Posted" signs on your properties. They do have trouble entering with guard dogs, like I have, inside fences.

send check for meat through 5 times
We bought a meat package, at the end of the day. My husband wasn't home and the sales man said he had already talked to him and that my husband want to buy some meat. He would hold the check until my pay day, which he knew. He said he would hold it until at least three days past. So my husband came home and we did get the meat. However, much to our surprize, two days later, our check went through the bank. Our bank didn't pay, so the check was returned. We received a letter from the cattle exchange, "manager/vice president", saying we owed this amount. My husband called and made arangements to pay for the check on the day it was supposed to be paid to begin with. A week and a half later. I called the payment in, using my account, received a faxed copy of my check, and the receit and paid in full. The same day the cattle exchange sent the check through again to the bank. We didn't know this until I went to put money into our checking accout. We tried calling and could never get through. The following monday we received our normal bank statement and low and behold the cattle exchange sent the check back through two more times. Two days in a row. This time the bank paid on because there was money in the account. We also had 3 nsf charges of 32 dollers. We took our faxed receite to the bank and they did refund one of the charges. Yes the paid it twice. But we were told that it was up to us to get the rest back. We contact the Vice president and was told that he would have the matter setttled with in the day... That was at the end of November 2008. It is now the beginning of Jan.2009. We make calls daily and are told that the accounts are refunding as we speak.. And yet no money has been returned to us..

Door-to-door meat sellers rip off!
On Dec. 6, a pair of men drove up to my house and offered to sell me frozen, vacuum-packed meat at a "real bargain", 40% off retail! I went out to look at their wares, and they had cases of meat, chicken, pork and seafood. The product looked very nice, vacuum packed.

They said they had a satisfaction guarantee, and would make me a great deal on the meat, since it was the end of the day and they wanted to get home. I ended up buying one case of steak and one case of mixed chicken/pork. The total cost was over $450.

One of the men carried the food up to our front deck while I paid the other. After they left, my wife and I started putting the meat away in our freezer. We were surprised at how little the meat weighed, given how much we paid. After checking the net weights on all the packages, we were surprised to see that we had purchased a total of only 38.5 pounds of meat, with about 16 pounds of that being beef and the rest a mix of chicken and pork. The per-pound cost came out to a little less than $11.85 per pound, which is expensive meat anywhere in America, certainly not 40% off retail!

I contacted the company the next day to complain, and was foisted off to a "manager" who took my complaint. He said that the records showed that I had received two cases of steak and one of pork/chicken. I told him that this was not true, and we argued for a while. He said he would contact his boss and would call me the next day.

No call came in the next day. I called and left a message. On Monday, I called two of their offices and was told I would be contacted the next morning. No call came in. I called again the next day, late in the afternoon, and was told that they were going to "give" me another box of beef.

By this time all I wanted was to get a refund for the meat and return it. This was not an option, according to the person who spoke with me. I told them I didn't want another case of meat, and didn't even have a place to put it, that my freezer was full. She told me to give it away as a Christmas present.

I was also told that "on the back of the brochure" it was clearly stated that I had only three days to complain, and that it had to be in writing (certified letter, I believe she said.) I tried to tell her that I had never seen a brochure (because I had not), but she talked right over the top of me and said she wasn't going to argue with me, that I wasn't going to get my money back. As far as that goes, it would have been nice if someone had told me about the requirement for a letter the first time I called.

With a "guarantee of satisfaction" and an unhappy customer with a lot of unopened meat, I'd think they would want to keep themselves from getting a bad reputation by settling things. But I've since then seen other mentions of the company on the Internet with complaints about bad customer service, so I guess I should have checked first.
