I too applied to an admin/receptionist position and was contacted by a Susan McCathy. She requested a background check from this website...http://www.beenverified.com/check-your-background2?LP=check-your-background2-sample&bvcid=hydra-checkyourbackground-affiliate&creative=Email2&ASPDPT=&SUBID=48293
I wrote to Ms. McCathy to see if you would supply me with the name of the company that is requesting a background check. I haven't gotten a response as of yet. Here is a copy of the letter in which she sent to me...
Good day,
I would like to take this moment to thank you for your response to our Craigslist job posting, as well as inform you, that after reading through your resume, we are interested in discussing this opportunity further with you. As of this moment, we have narrowed the field down to 3 potential candidates, yourself being one of them.
I would like to congratulate you in making it to the next step of our hiring process. As part of our company protocol, and to protect our company from liabilities and potential issues, the next step of the process includes getting your background checked. Please be aware, that this is the policy of our company employees to all have a background check on file.
In lieu of this, we have arranged a free service here to conduct the check. Once you have completed this process, please email me confirmation ASAP, so we can move forward. Time is of the essence, as we would like to fill the position very soon. Upon receipt of your score, myself or Heather, will get back to you to set up the face to face interview.
Again, Thank you for your interest, and I hope to hear from you soon.
All the best,
Susan McCathy
I noticed that it was almost identical to the letter that the first person wrote to them as well. The only difference is that I am located in Atlanta, GA. I must admit that this sounds like a fraudulent person trying to get people to join a background checking website that offers a 7-day trial.
