ATM Network Reviews

Lots of excuses, no explanations for mistakes, improper payments
We first started using ATM Network for our ATM placements four years ago. This company will do everything and anything to squeeze every penny from you, and unless you carefully review your statements you will notice that there always seems to be money missing--maybe not a lot--but it adds up over time.

Once our contract was signed, we also noticed a lot of price increases without any explanation as to why.

We received a $7 monthly charge for every single location when the company switched from mailing their monthly checks to direct deposit. That we means we were paying $70/month just to receive our payments! (10 locations x $7). Maybe I am mistaken, but shouldn't costs go down when you go paperless? They have since lowered that charge; I guess they got enough complaints that they realized they couldn't get away with it. We also were told there was a $300 price increase on the ATM's we were ordering through them--good thing we went elsewhere to order our ATM's as other companies prices were going down, not up.

Also, you can expect to receive the wrong amount of interchange month after month. There were several times where we reviewed our statements up to a year later after we received them and realized that we were shorted on payments on multiple months.

We were told we would make 100% of our surcharge plus interchange payments. Yeah...right. After their "Mastercard pass-through" charges, "Visa network-assessed" charges, charges to receive monthly direct deposits, and other assorted deductions we don't even make our full surcharge amount, let alone receive any interchange.

After we contacted ATM Network about our issues they had no explanation or justification for their mistakes. They simply mail a check out the following week, and pretend nothing happened. But I will tell you this; had we never contacted them about these mistakes, they NEVER would have been corrected.

Someone from ATM Network will probably file a rebutall to these claims. He/she will not respond to the direct allegations of these comments, but will claim that they are a stand up company, in good standing with the BBB, and well respected. This, however is false. They are thieves who will rob you blind unless you review EVERY single statement you receive and stay on top of them. But is that really the kind of company you want to deal with?

Terrible experience
A Minneapolis-based atm company has made it a long-standing practice to lie to customers and sales prospects by collecting a mythical 'Visa and Mastercard' fee for every atm transaction on its network.

Normally, the owner of an atm gets to keep whatever their transaction fee is. So if a business owns an atm that has a transaction fee of $1.50, they get to keep $1.50 every time the atm is used.

But ATM Network cites an 11 cent fee that Visa and Mastercard charge because they actually own all of the processing networks. They claim that this fee goes directly to Visa and Mastercard, and ATM Network doesn't get any of it.

However, if you talk with any atm owner that does not have an atm that processes through ATM Network, they have never heard such a thing. What's more is that they don't even tell you about this fee unless you should happen to stumble upon it by going through your statement. Their salespeople will lie through their teeth when you ask them if there are any fees: 'we don't charge you any fees like most other atm companies do.'

11 cents doesn't sound like much. It actually used to be 6.5 cents. But I guess the economy was hard on their President, Phil Rock, and about one year ago they raised the fee to the current rate. ATM Network has over 5, 000 machines on their network, so if you do the math on a conservative average of 200 transactions for each machine, you come up with about $1.3 million.

Add to that the fact that the company condones other under-handed practices, like adding monthly connection fees (that customers are not aware of unless they stumble onto it) the picture is clear: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ATM NETWORK.
