I would like to put a formal complaint against Atomic Shuttles in Christchurch. I was scheduled to travel with Atomic booked shuttle service for round trip transportation service to Lake Tekapo departing Feb 23, 2011 and returning Feb 24, 2011 through the ISite.
Due to the earthquake on February 22, I was transported to a shelter and because the center of Christchurch was blocked off and I did not travel as planned on February 23. I did write to I-site on Feb 23 requesting a refund as I booked my travels through them and I did not have access to my vouchers, as they too, were in my hostel in the center of town. I received a response from I-site, stating they would issue me a refund once they were able to get back to the office.
Isite was not able to return to their office in the center of Christchurch until May. Atomic shuttle, has since, refused to issue me a refund because I did not cancel my trip with them directly(scheduled the day after the earthquake.) They did offer a voucher for future trips, however, I do not have any plans to return to New Zealand any time soon. They have, since, ignored my request to have my situation reviewed by the owners and are not responding to any emails I am sending them.
I understand they have policies and procedures to abide by but under the circumstances of the worst natural disaster Christchurch had to endure, this is a matter of human decency.
