Purchased this product 23 months age at BJ's Wholesale club. The unit performed up to all expectations untill one day it was turned on and nothing but a black screen. Knowing that the TV was out of warranty( 1 Year) I called Audiovox and they informed me that the nearest authorized repair center was right in town. I took the unit to the repair center and was told after examination that the LCD Panel Assembly was defective. The wholesale cost of the part before markup or labor exceeded the original cost of the TV. I was informed that it might take months to get the part and that the warranty repair contractor nationally that handles this TV is so swamped as to be very hard to access.
Now I realize that the unit is out of warranty and I am not looking for anything free...But I do think an assist from the Manufacturer in acquiring the part cheaper is called for. It is my opinion that the unit should not be rendered obsolete after less than two years.
Audiovox wants nothing to do with the product directly as they apparently just sell their name to be placed on it and after that want no responsibility. I have an four day email into the supervisor at the national repair contractor and I will let you know as things progress or don't.
