Babies R Us Reviews

The worst customer service
I have a one year old.. The first store I walked into before he was born was babies R us in east hanover NJ. Right there began the experience of the worst customer service I have ever been through at any store. This is no exaggeration. From the managers to the people at the counter, even asking for help to navigate the store for the first time was torture.. I have stopped shopping there now that my son is over one and I can go elsewhere for his things now. The attitude and unapproachibility and the unwillingness to help stand out at every store i have been to.. Including Garden City NY and Massapequa Ny. I tried the latter one after I was treated so rudely and inappropriately by the Manager there at Garden City back in March 2011.. It is just a horrendous shopping experience.. I dont like to remark this way about anyone or anything usually.. This has just tested my ability to remain tolerable about it.. I have no plans to ever shop at Babies R US ever again.. due to this, , I would rather pay more and shop at Buy Buy Baby where there is a remarkable difference in the way the staff treat their customers and help to make the shopping experience enjoyable.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT BABIES R US.. I dont want to spend my money somewhere where the people treat you like dirt..

not a complaint its a commet
this is not a complaint this is about a associate jeannine, at the south county location, she was very happy, and she helped me when i thought i was going to have a hard time bringing my rocker back, did not like the rocker and she was so sweet about it, we returned it and i went back and picked out another one, i was going to go somewhere else to pick out a rocker but her being so friendly i just went back and picked out one there so thank you jeannine.

p.s. SHE DESERVES A RAISE

Poor Customer Service
I had purchased something from the website and went to the store to pick it up. The associate refused to give me my product without the confirmation email printed out. She would not let me read off the confirmation number. She said she had to see it on paper from the email I was sent. After telling me that what I was telling her was incorrect and being argumentative, she called her manager over and said told her manager in front of me that I was being combative. The manager would not give me my product but was more than happy to return it.

Service
Service is horrible at this store. My daughter is almost 2 and I have had so many issues with this store that I started shopping elsewhere when she was about 1. I went there again today for something I wanted to get quickly and had all my coupons. Well ... it has only gotten worse. The Manager Stacy actually yelled at her employee in front of me for trying to honor a question/coupon that I had. And this company is definitely not about customers or repeat customers .. and now even about employees. This nice woman was apologizing to me as her boss was saying "she doesn't know what she is doing". I am in customer service and I have to say .. I hope companies like this end up closing. We don't need them in this market place.

Customer Service-Cashier
Was in this store on 02/21/2011 to purchase some items from a baby gift registry, first the gift registry machine was out of paper, no employee bothered to fill it up with paper, instead they just watched as me and others tried to print the forms to go and make out purchases, then went to try and find these items, and several of the items were listed on Aisles, but, when I went to those aisles, those items were moved and no one changed them on the gift registry forms. So, you had to walk around and around to try and find everything. Last as I was at the register paying for my items, the cashier who was in a big hurry and rang up the first items, scan my rewards card, I proceeded to slide my card and pay, she then scan the next big item, never bothered to scan my rewards card, so here I am paying for the big item and get no reward points for it because she is in abig hurry. When I questioned her about it, she told me that I would either have to go over to the other counter, return that item, re-ring it back up and include the rewards card or just go home and call the 800 number on the back of the card! There is no 800 number on the back... So, now I have made this purchase and received no points or credit for it just because this cashier was in such a big hurry... If my daughter-in-law had been registred at any other store, I would have gone there to buy these items...That store lacks alot of customer service and frankly don't care...

Reward Program Rewards not arriving in mail
Beware when you think you get your 10th diaper box free after purchasing 9 before. I have 3 kids (twins, 18 month old) and a 3 year old in diapers (imagine my diaper consumption) and buy my diapers exclusively at Babies R Us as they were cheaper compared to Target, etc. when we lived in Pennsylvania. We received our first free diaper box certificate and two mailings of $5 off, etc. coupons but thereafter, we did not get any mail from them at all. I called the customer service numerous times verifying mailing address (as if it changed) and they could not figure out why the certificates show as mailed but never arrived on my side. They basically insinuated that the mailman or neighbors are swiping them. Idiots! The certficates also show in their system as never redeemed. Wonder why? Now I moved to VA where I was told it is quite unlikely that people swipe my certificates and overall Babies R Us rewards mail - at least statistically. Guess whaat - a certificate mailed in June and coupons mailed in August also did not make it here or to my old address (note: all mail forwarded arrived here incl. my frequent flyer program mail). When I called for the nth time customer service I got to the highest escalation point and they told me as they already gave me a one-time courtesy voucher for the second certificate I never received, there is nothing they can do for me now. I think they are just not mailing it as they are trying to save $$$ and the process they set up is geared towards "we show it as sent, you claim you did not get it". Sorry. When we asked them to credit the certificate to our online account (which they do for everything else...sorry, can't do it. Guess what, I have a solution - buy diapers online now. Have a nice day, Scams-R-Us!!! This will be posted all over the internet including my facebook page.

Horrible service
Their exchange policies are no help to parents, their staff are consistently horrible when it comes to service (lazy, un-knowledgeable, don't care) and their 'coupons/discounts' are misleading. In the most recent incident, the manager of the OKC store literally threatened to take my mom out front and beat her after my mom simply asked the woman to talk to the employee who lied to her and told her there were no more boxes of a specific item in the back of the store, when there were. The time before that, I took back an item that I had a receipt for AND was on my registry, but because it was after 60 days, I was stuck with it. The item was for an older baby and was something I got at a shower and I had no way of knowing it wouldn't work for us until after 60 days. Any store that wants to cater to parents of infants and children should have a more lenient policy, especially when the customer has the receipt. I'm so upset that I actually registered at the store and had my friends and family spend money there.

SURVEY TO WIN $500
Went to store today. When handed receipt clerk told me about 5 question survey online that gave you a chance to win $500. When I went to address... said no longer valid. Store 6446. Why would they waste printing on receipts and customers time for a contest that does not exist.

Return Policy
I received a baby bassinet as a gift and needed to return it. I went to my local Babies R Us store and was told that they can''t accept it since they are Babies R Us Express and I need to go to a regular Babies R Us store. I drove to the regular Babies R Us store which is a long distance from my house and was told that they can't accept it either since they don't carry this item in the store and I need to go to the Babies R Us store that carries this item.

I completely don't understand this policy. First of all, how am I suppose to know which store carries which items? Second, let''s say my friend from Los Angeles sends present to me to San Francisco. If none of the local stores carry this item what am I suppose to do with it?
h
This policy is completely insane.

Return Policy
Well I had a very eye opening experience today. We received a gift from a friend of mine for 10 month old son. As it would happen it was something I already had two of and really didn't need a third one.

So I decided to take it back to Babies R US and just get a store credit. It wasn't a large item only about 32.00. Then I could get something else for him that he could really use...I don't say diapers?

Anyway I waited at the return counter and it was finally my turn. I explained to the store clerk that it was a gift and I already had two of them and would like to return the one I just got. My friend didn't give me the receipt or a gift receipt so I would just like to get a store credit. She proceeded to ask me if it was on my registry. Which it was but what difference did that make? As it would turn out they would not return it or give me a store credit. I asked to speak to the manager and it was explained to me that because my son is over 30 days old I could not just return a gift I had gotten. Even though I had just gotten it. The only way I could return the item was to get the original receipt.

So let me get this straight!
Someone gives me a gift two weeks ago.
One that I already have two of and really don't need a third.
And because my due date was more than 30 days ago I need the original receipt.
I can't even get a store credit because it is over $20.00

SO...
The sales clerk suggested I give it as a gift to someone else I know as a gift. I am a 41 year old new mother. Not a lot of my friends have babies.
OR
Call up the friend who gave it to me as say what? Thanks so much for the gift but I already have two of them and in order to return it I have to have you send me the original receipt as she lives in another state
OR
I could ask my friend for the credit card number she purchased it on and then they could look up the receipt on line. I am not sure my sister would even do that for me.
OR
I can take it to Toys R Us and try and return it there as they have a more friendly return policy.

So beware...
If you purchase something for someone at Babies R. US and their child is over 30 days old, they won't be able to return the gift unless you send them the original receipt. Oh...unless you are cheap and it is under 20.00. Then they can get a gift card.
