Around 1 month ago I placed an on line order for a stroller with 'Babbies R Us' (Canada), after
finalising my order a page opened stating, "your Order has been placed". Nothing else..no order no#
or receit of transation at all. I had no way to track the order or proof that I had even placed it, this included their own customer registrastion page..Nothing! The next day I found my account had been debited, and still with
no correspondance from toys r us. A fews days later toys r us reversed the transaction and sent me an
email to say the product was not available on line at present.
Stupidly I supose, I assumed that was the end of the transaction as I had not given them further authority to
debit my account. I was very wrong it would seem.
I purchased a different stroller with strollers.com in the mean time and then on the 30th may toys r us sent
me an email to inform me they now carried stock of those strollers and would debit my account at the time
of shipment. And, if I was wanting to cancel the order I could do so only under the rules they stipulated.
Garbage! As it was I did happen to fit into their "requirments"... or so their policy states!
(Less than twelve hours) from receiving their email informing me of their intentions and my "right" to cancel the
order, I was forced to make an international call to their 1800 number from my cell pnone, where I was met
buy a very rude 'mellisa' who was speaking to me form the (U.S)..Not even Canada?, which was the site I was
led to believe I was dealing with.
She informed me that, NO, I could not cancel my order. And why? because it is being processed for shipping.
I promptly told her how displeased I was with the under handed nature of the whole transaction from the very
onset. And how eaqually displeased I was that she would now be refusing to carry out my wishes based on
some lame excuse which blatently disregarded their very own policy. But I supose their policy is a load of
garbage anyway. To all this I had to plead my case further by reminding her that the email I received from
them stating their intentions, and my seemingly falacious options, was sent out to me less than twelve hours
ago.. She made no justification this time but rather put me on hold for some time before returning to say that
she had just spoken with Toys R Us (CANADA), Yep you herd it, Canada! and made a "request" to cancel my order.
Now, dose anyone see anything wrong with this picture?
The stroller arrived as I knew it would on my wifes door in winnipeg which she refused to sign for and the courier was told RTS. That was 4 days ago now.
Consequences? Sheeez where to start?
Toys R Us disregard during my phone call prompted me to put a block on my debit card which was to no avail, I have to wonder if their original debit reversal for my order was no more than an underhanded ploy to steal my account info? after all look at the circumstances! Their obviously aware of banking grey areas. I was stretching my welfare check beyond its limits so my wife would no longer have to carry our 30 pound baby 7 killometres a day and what should have been a joyfull purchase has turned into a financial crisis for me which will see me on food stamps for nearly a month. My bank have informed me only toys r us can return my $280, I dont however expect I will get so much as an apology! And as for the $40 dishonour fee my bank slapped me with, well..? thats just bad luck for me isnt it! Thaks Toys R Us! You have tought me a painfully valuable lesson ;o)
