If they can go out of their way to aid and abed Riadh Hamdi in his actions, they can certainly cancel your membership!

ALERT to anyone with a gym membership!! I was recently a victim of a theft at Bally Total Fitness in Beachwood, OH. I entered the gym at approximately 10 am on November 11th and when I returned from working out, my lock was completely removed from my locker and all of my personal belongings were stolen!! This included my house/car keys, cell phone, purse, gym bag and clothes. After scouring the locker room twice, I reported the incident to a less-than-empathetic employee at the front desk (and an even worse Manager!!). I could only remember the number to my bank, so I contacted them to report my debit card and check book stolen. I next contacted the police and they promptly arrived to take my report. By the time I made it home (approximately 90 minutes later), the thief had charged $8, 500 on my credit cards and written two checks totaling $1, 500!! Eight different merchants allowed this thief to use my credit cards that clearly stated 'PHOTO ID REQUIRED' on the backs of them!

I am writing to alert everyone of this crime and my terrible experience. Almost one month and approximately $10, 000 later, I am still not the same. I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy. And the sad part is that the Detective handling my case does not seem motivated to catch the thief at all. He stated to me in our first conversation, 'I get 4 or 5 of these across my desk every week.' With such a poor attitude like that, he doesn't help my feelings of being victimized, violated, fear, frustration, etc.

I have not received any support or assistance from Bally Total Fitness. A contact in their corporate office stated that, 'this doesn't happen very often.' Since publicizing my story, I have met and heard of NUMEROUS people with similar experiences at Bally Total Fitness and other health spas.

So as the holiday season approaches and the economy continues to weaken, please be advised that the thieves are on the prowl. Please be careful and protect your personal belongings because Bally Total Fitness and others certainly ARE NOT!

CAUTION: DO NOT TAKE ANY VALUABLE ITEMS INSIDE THE GYM!!!

In the summer of 1999 I won a free 1 week membership to Bally Total Fitness. I went to Bally's in Altamonte Springs, FL with a guest (who was also free) for the 1 week trial. After that week I never returned. A few months later I started getting phone calls and letters from Bally's regarding past due membership fees. I explained to them that I did not have a membership and I was not paying any fees. The calls stopped but the letters did not. Then I got a letter from a collection agency that stated I owed Bally's a full year membership in the amount of $1440. $1440??? For a year membership that I didn't even have? Are they insane? So I contacted the collection agency, completely outraged that they were charging me for a contract when I didn't have one and for $1440!!! The collection agency told me they would investigate. I didn't hear from them for several months. Then I started receiving more letters from another collection agency... and this time the collection was listed on my credit report. I was furious. I contacted Bally's and the new collection agency and both companies gave me the run-around, basically telling me there was nothing they could do and that I should just pay the $1440. Now 9 yrs later I am still getting letters from collection agencies for this money.

I will never pay them a dime.

Bally's closed my original account and opened a new one without notice. they never sent a notification until i checked my credit report and i went to Bally's to see what's wrong.

After i did this, they sent my account to collection to Asset Acceptance.

This persons are now trying to collect the amount that i allegedly own Bally's

I WAS PROMOTED QUICKLY BY BALLY MANAGEMENT AND WAS THE TOP NEW BUSINESS WRITER IN MY DISTRICT. I WAS LIED TO BY MANAGEMENT. I SAW FIRST HAND THE UNDERHANDED WAY PEOPLE WERE MANIPULATED INTO GIVING THIER CREIDIT, DEBIT, AND OR BANK INFO SO IT COULD BE TAPPED BY BALLY FOR THREE YEARS, THEN AUTOMATICALLY RENEWED IF NOT NOTIFIED. I TOOK ALL OF MY SALES RECORDS WITH ME. I CONDUCTED AN INFORMAL POLL AND 80% OF PEOPLE WHO DID BUSINESS OR NEW OF SOMEONE THAT GOT INVOLVED WITH BALLY WISHED THEY NEVER WALKED THROUGH THE DOOR. I HAVE RECORDS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE PAYING FOR TWO MEMBERSHIPS. WHEN I NOTIFIED MY G.M. MR. JOEL RODGRIGUEZ HE WOULD LAUGH AND SAY "WE OWN THEM NOW" AND DON'T GET CAUGHT UP WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE, HE THEN HANDED ME A STACK OF 1-866 TOLL FREE NUMBERS AND I WAS TOLD TO NOT WASTE MY TIME. TIME THAT COULD BE USED TO SIGN NEW MEMBERS. I CALLED THIS NUMBER. I CALLED FOR A MEMBER WHO'S NAME I HAVE TO STOP A DOUBLE CHARGE AND THIS NUMBER TOOK ME THROUGH THE MOST FRUSTRATING MAZE. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS COMPANY THE "HARBINGER GROUP" A HEDGEFUND COLLECTION OF WALLSTREET VENTURE CAPITALISTS COULD GET AWAY WITH THIS. IN MY OPINION IT SEEMED NOT ONLY IMMORAL, BUT CRIMINAL. I WAS LIED TO AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AS AN EMPLOYEE, BUT IT DOES NOT COMPARE TO WHAT I WITNESS FIRSTHAND. I AM ORGANIZING MEMBERS OR FORMER MEMBERS BECAUSE ONE VOICE CAN BE DISMISSED BUT HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS CANNOT. I HAVE NOTHING TO GAIN. I HAVE STARTED TO MAKE INROADS AT THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE ON BEHALF OF MEMBERS AND FORMER MEMBERS. THE HARBIGER GROUP HAS ALREADY SETTLED CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS IN OTHER STATES. THIS IS A PREDITORY CORP THAT SUMS UP THE GREED ON WALL STREET THAT HAS RUINED OUR ECONOMY IT'S PRACTICES LIKE THIS THAT CAUSE THE TAX PAYER.
