Worthless Agreement
On 08-25-2004 I was contacted by a sales person from a Bally's Club saying I won a free week to workout. I went to the club to accept my week pass and was talked into signing up for a 30 day money back guarantee deal. How can you go wrong with a written guarantee? The salesman began typing up my '30 day' contract and asked me if any of my family members would like a pass to workout with me. I named my kids and boyfriend. He hands me the contract and it's for one year and he had listed my kids and boyfriend. I said to him that I didn't want them on my contract because they may not want to go to the gym. He said not to worry because at the end of my 30 day trial offer all I need to do is redo my contract and take them off. He said it's best to leave them on there because they may decide to go with me and swim or jump into the sauna. Then he added 'you don't want to go through more paper work. It'll only slow you down.' I took the contract with only 50% sure that I'd join for a year at that gym. The guy wore me down just selling me a silly 30 day deal. The only way to qualify for the 30 day deal is to workout for 12 days out of 30. And if you're not satisfied then you request in writing that Bally's Total Fitness provide buyer with a full refund of all membership fee and dues (if any) paid to Bally's to date for Member's membership and cancel Member's membership, in accordance with the official rules set out on the back of the guarantee. I did 15 days and told the sales people that I was going to cancel. I mailed a letter and believed it was done with untill I received a bill for the amount of $2, 936.00 I am still disputing these charges that are now on my credit report.

Owes Me Money
I will never recommend or use Bally's Total Fitness again. On August of 2009 I signed up online to Bally's on a 30 day month to month no contract for $30 a month. I had a toddler and figured I could take the baby and work out however I found out Bally's child care schedule didn't fit my schedule and wasn't always available. Then I cancelled after 3 months via phone and email. Bally's continued to deduct/draft $30 for over a year out of my account after my cancellation and now I am owed a little over $400 dollars and they refuse to refund me. Why should I pay for a service I didn't use? All because they are saying I didn't put a cancellation in writing. If and when you sign up via email it never states that. I have written several letter to the Refunds Dept & Corporate Office and still no response. I would never recommend Bally's to anyone or do business with them again.

Bogus Email Offers
They sent a bogus offer out last weekend offering to renew my subscription for one year at a cost of 0.00. I tried to click the link and was then told the offer expired, and when i called to complain it was a big hassle and turns out they claim they made a mistake and sent out a bunch of these offers. I was upset about it and after talking to a SV they at least gave me 3 months free added on to my membership. They say that they have been routinely giving out 3 months free to those that asked about this error but at first they tried to deny me anything. I was wondering if anybody got more than that or if they are screwing anybody else and telling different info to different people?

Will not cancel contract
DO NOT sign up with this gym. They refuse to cancel my membership. I called the 1-800 number and waited on the phone for almost an hour to talk to someone. I told them that I had lost my job and could no longer afford to pay for the membership and would need to cancel. They refused. I have had to change credit cards to get them to stop billing me. They are VERY deceptive. Do not waste your time and don't let them trick you into doing the trainer sessions. They are very over priced and you can do everything they "teach" you, on your own. I went to two of these sessions and wanted to cancel and they refused. IT IS A SCAM! Please trust me on this. I had read other complaints but ignored them. Please don't make the same mistake.

Cancellation Process
To Whom It Main Concern:
I have also mailed in a letter of cancellation and the $50 fee to wave off the contract. However, this last month, they charged $12 on my father's credit card. I went to the Huntington Beach, CA to get it straightened out and the desk lady tried to call the Norwalk place for me. However, later she told me to try calling again later and told me the business times to call was 6am to 11am and 5pm to 9pm. When I called at 5pm, I found out they had hours that closed to 5pm. I am disgusted by the complete lie she told me.
I want to make it clear that I want my membership permanently terminated within the next month without any further charges with a $12 refund. I am a reasonable person, but if this problem continues I will seek legal action.

worst customer service ever
Bally's home office has waits of up to 2 and a 1/2 hours to speak with a representative only to be promptly disconnected. Their sales people will tell you anything to get you to sign a contract and then that contract is binding for 3 years. When you complain about being misled by staff you are simply told that is doesn't matter what you were told (even if it was lies) because you signed in "blood" basically, for the next 3 years. You will never be accommodated or treated as a paying customer in any way after signing a contract as normal business must do. They do not care if you are unhappy because they have your credit card # and that is all they care about. In the end, basically everything they tell you in the beginning is a lie to get your money and they make any contact after that impossible.

Scam and lies
I join the gym in May and signed up for until July with a friend at Ballys Total fitness. Because we were only going to be in that area for about 12 weeks we decided to look for a gym that would suit or needs. We met with a sales associate and general manager at the time to see if that gym was compatible with us and will suit our needs.
I decided along with my friend to pay up front for the three months since we knew our time there was short and general manager convinced us that Bally's had a plan that would suit our needs and that our contract was only good for the three month. He also convinced me that the only reason why he needed my credit card info was to allow the corporate office to process our gym memberships for the time we were going to be there.
Four months later, I checked my credit card to pay a bill and I saw that Bally's Total fitness had been charging me from August to November for using the gym. I called the office right away to let them know of their mistake. They gave me a run around for a month until finally someone told me that the about 87dollars/month they were taking from my credit card account without my permission for the past four months will not be refunded.
All I want is for them to refund me the money that they have been charging me. I will never join that gym again and I will never recommend anyone to use that gym because they are dishonest people working with the company and they also train them in a way that they can cheat people out of their money.

Scam charges
I just signed a Bally's contract at 11:52am PT on 3/24/2009. What I thought I was signing was a waiver for possible injury in the club. The club manager, D. L. employee #****84 was the agent I signed with. I need to cancel this contract but I see now that Bally's has a reputation for unethical dealings. I would like to have some weight with me when I try to get my money back. Maybe if they know they are under investigation they will deal fairly with me. I have been unemployed since October 2008. I was depressed because I had not received any responses to my employment applications. So finally I received a call about an application I submitted. However I had to pass a physical ability test before being considered. I thought using gym equipment to condition my body would improve my ability on the test. I needed two things from a facility; it had to be close to home, and no contractual obligation.
I told Doug that I was unemployed and that I could not sign a contract at this time. I asked if I could just pay cash ahead of time every month. He told me that was ok. The club is close to my home. So I went in and was told I just needed to sign a waiver to protect Bally's from unnecessary law suits. What I read and signed was in fact a waiver affirming I would not hold Bally's and its agents at fault if I were injured in the club. I was then lead out of Doug's office to the lobby and he gave me an ID for the club and as I waited for Doug to give me my copy of the waiver it became apparent to me that he had forgot to give me my copy of the waiver. So I asked for it, he laughed and said oh yeah and came back with the contract that I now have. I did not think anything about the added pages because he was explaining to me while he gave me the papers that he was giving me the schedules of the club's itinerary.
I picked up the papers to start scheduling my workouts and noticed that I had been given what looks like a three year contract. Though my signature is not on the contract it had other information pertaining to me.

Terrible company
Im writing this in hopes taht we can all do something together to fight this corporate heartless, royal screwing! It was eight years ago that bally's got me and im just now finding out that in 2007 a judgement was brought against me over it. Im tired of this nonsense and nothing happening. Please read my story and decide if you want or can help.
It start for me when I was working at the mall as operations leader at best buy. It wasn't like I made a lot of money or anything just watched over the cashiers, counted money, so on so forth. I basiclly was an underpayed babysitter.
One ay i was walking through the mall and saw a drawing for a free two week membership and figured what the heck, can't hurt, HA. Anyway, about a week later I got a call about my free two weeks. Awesome I thought I was chosen, LMFAO! Just so happens that there was everyone that put their name in got it so they could get you in the office. I was a sucker and fell for it.
I went in, sat down with a very attractive girl, hum? I then thought I was signing my two weeks but was also suckered into paying something? I don't to this day know what I payed for?
Five days after I signed the stupid contract I called them at the mall to tell them it was a bad idea and I will never work out in a gym, nevermind that gym. They proceeded to tell me the contract rules about 3 days or 25 miles.
Now to end my story im in a judgement suit for $1, 400 eight years later trying to get a loan and cant at thirty years old. Please help me take these people down. Many of you have been taken by this and even one poor soul was raped by an employee and yet they still won't let her out of the contract.

Scammed into a 3yr contract.
I went to the Humble, TX Bally's Total Fitness back in Sept 2006 . I signed up for a month to month contract cause i already had a 24hr Fitness membership but that facility was quite a ways from me. So after 2 months i decided to cancel the Bally's because they closed at 9pm and i ususally didnt get home til after 9pm at the time, so I ended up at 24hr fitness all the time and keeping this was a waste. SO when I called they told me i couldnt cancel becasue i was under a 3 yr contract. The sales person at Bally's lied to me and told me that i was on a month to month and could cancel at anytime. I have been struggling with them for the past 2 yrs trying to get this off of my credit. So far nothing has changed. Does anyone know who i could contact to put a stop to this.
