I received a $50 reward card via email, against opening a credit card with Old Navy (same chain). The reward card has no fine print such as cannot be clubbed with promos etc. Only it had an expiry date.
I also had a 20% OFF coupon.
I did a purchase of over $220 at Banana Republic store at Seattle Premium Outlet (Tulalip, WA), and redeemed the $50 reward, but forgot to apply 20% OFF coupon.
When I realized this, I went back to the cashier (who also happened to be the store manager) and requested to apply the 20% OFF coupon.
The manager very shrudely told me that he may apply the 20% OFF coupon, but for that he would have to return all the items and create a new bill. "However" I would loose my $50 reward card in the process, as I could use it only once. OMG, how can they cheat customers like that?
I asked the customer service guy, that why the *** he can't give me refund for the amount of 20% OFF. If the system doesn't support it, find another way. I mean he knows I am asking for genuine refund. He plainly refused to do anything about it, except removing the $50 reward and applying $35 (as 20% OFF), which he knows I would not do. What kind of "customer service" is that?
Is Banana Republic cheating customers by promising these enticing discounts to come to their store and then refusing to honor their own promotions!!
