Poor Care
My 1 1/2 year old cat was acting lethargic, not really eating and a cough. After a few days I realized she wasn't getting any better and she should be seen before things turn worse. I called and they were able to see her later that day. I have worked for animal hospitals before, so I was a little confused how they weighed her while she was still in the carrier. Then I waited 25 minutes in a little examination room. The vet tech came in and did a pre exam, took information from me about her, since she had never been their before. She put all this information in the computer, but seemed more concerned with the exact date of when she had her vaccines. To me 7 or 8 months ago was enough information to show she wasn't behind on innoculations. Another 10 -15 minutes goes by before the vet finally came in. I had to repeat all the same information to her that I told the vet tech, the vet examined her and couldn't find anything wrong. No temperature and the lungs sounded clear. She suggested we run some bloodwork to see what is going on with her, so she had the vet tech run an estimate and come back in to go over it with me. I just about died! Almost $300. just for a blood test, urine test and to check her for ear mites. Yeah, like ear mites would make he sick and lethargic. I literally asked her how much to put her down. I was informed they wouldn't put her down for a cough. I took my cat and left. I would not bring any animal there even if their life depended on it. I decided to bring her back to her regular vet even if they couldn't get her in for 2 days. So I picked up some homeopathic and herbal remedies and she started improving in 24 hours. I cancelled her appointment as she was back to normal in 48 hours. I would suggest that everyone stay a way as far as possible from these money hungry, ignorant tools, but that's just my opinion.

Nutering
My Son took his Five Month Old French Bulldog to Banfield to have him nutered. He died before the proceedure was done. Apperantly he had trouble with the sedative, and died when they put him out. All he wants is for them to replace His Pet, as you may know French Bulldogs are an expensive breed. What should we do to see to it that they replace his Friend. He is totally in shock from this experience, as is understandable.

Unprofessional!
Pet was evaluated and diagnosed as having cysts or treatable tumor. Immediately after surgery, Dr stated unequivocally that the growths were malignant and had matasathisezd. When I asked about a biopsy, he dismissed the idea stating it wouldn't "... tell me anything I don't already know." I ordered a biopsy which indicated BENIGN growths. I had this confirmed with a second opinion.

J. H. Martin, DVM, misdiagnosed twice, caused me emotional distress by his rash diagnoses, and failed to follow best treatment practices. Fees were exorbitant.

I will not patronize this practice or any other Banfield "vet-in-a-box+ outlet.

Do not go here!
A lot of pets that get vaccinations here develop reactions. There are numerous pets this happens to. And although this can happen anywhere, it happens here VERY often.

Please stare clear of this place!

Trying to sell unneeded services!
Recently took my dog to Banfield, because his hot spots and itchy skin. The vet indicated that his lungs sounded bad and wanted to take x-rays worth hundreds of dollars. She kept on saying that it could be serious. Next came the time to sign the papers to let them do it. After I refused to get the x-ray-pictures done, the vet refused to prescribe anything for the itchy skin. Needless to say that I went to see my regular vet. Strange enough my regular vet told me there was NOTHING wrong with his lungs, prescribed medicine for the skin and he is getting better.

Wellness plan scam!
In January of 2006 I took one of my dogs to Banfield to have a review of treatment to remove a growth over his eye. Before any conversation really took place I was being told about a wellness plan. After some quick review I agreed to sign up. To keep this brief, I had the work done on my dog and according to Banfield's arbitrary fee schedule I saved a bundle.

Sadly, the dog died about 2 months later. It took me a bit to get the assholes at Banfield to agree to cancel. Well, surprise they didn't really cancel the damn plan. After I caught them still charging me they apologized and assured me that all would be taken care of. Surprise it was not. I eventually had to change my account number to stop them from continuing to steal from me. Now these sons of bitches are taking me to collections for not fulfilling my contract.

I'll be damned if I pay the pricks another penny. I've filed a complaint with the BBB; I imagine that will go nowhere too. Next step is to send the local consumer reporter to see them.

Stay away from these thieves. They are not worth the effort.

Overcharging / Rip off
I have read most of the posts on here and would also like to add my comments. I have a 2 year old boxer in perfect health. I went to a Banfield near Nashville TN to have his ears cropped. The Banfield there was excellent. This is where things fell apart. I work on the road and travel a lot, or did that is why I chose Banfield. First off the first thing out of their mouths was the “Wellness Plan”. I read over the wellness plan and thought that maybe this would be a good deal to get since I travel a lot. After asking several questions it came about that the wellness plan was not honored at all locations, in fact if I had bought it there it would only be honored at that location. Since then that has changed from what I understand it is now honored at all locations (even though it is still a huge rip off). I finally took a position in Memphis TN where I found a Banfield on Winchester Rd. here in Memphis, again they urged me to take the wellness plan but they don’t explain that their wellness plan doesn’t cover a lot of routine things such as treating a yeast infections in their ears, their monthly medication, trimming their nails and such. I would have been charged for all these things. And the fees that they do charge per visit they do not explain. When I took my boxer in they examined him and I hope gave him shots, not sure if they even did or not seeing how I got to see neither a nurse or doctor. They told me it would take a while and that I should leave him there with them, so I did. They charged me for leaving him there while they administered their shots and examined him. They showed me the bill and said that I had saved over $700.00 by having the wellness plan. I totally disagree. After returning home I got online to order his heartguard and K9 advantix, a few days later Banfield called me and said that they do price matching I reminded them that they do not carry Heartguard and they told me that they had some other brand that was the same. I told them no, its not the same what you have is a large pill that my dog does not like, that is why I want heartguard then they proceeded to tell me in a rather nasty voice that I would have to pay $12.99 for a prescription. I told them I would get back with them on that. I will never set foot in a Banfield again. I like Petsmart I like taking my dog there he enjoys it too but I guarantee you I will tell everyone I see going into a Petsmart that has a Banfield that if they are taking their animal to a Banfield that they had better beware. Oh and by the way for the same exact annual shots and check up at a local veterinary hospital is only $68.00, not $353.00 I have to pay Banfield until the plan is paid up. And what the plan does does cover, is most of the time part of the routine exam at local vets.
