I have a 13 year sheltie who had a bad rash on her stomach . She also has bad arthritis. I went to Banfield on the recommendation of a neighbor. What a mistake . This place is the biggest bunch of con artists i have ever run into and I have lived in Las Vegas for 10 years! To just hit the highlight, we arrived at 9;15 am and did the paperwork. The so called "nurse" put us in a room and then showed us a video on how great their wellness programs are. I thought what is a time share sales pitch? She does the standard checks of the dog and then starts pushing the wellness program and tells me I should sign up now. I said I probably would but " I wanted to get my treated / diagnosed first. About 5 minutes elapse and in walks what is suppose to be the vet. I doubt he was. I worked for Pfizer for 20 years and this guy did not seem to be a doctor other than the white coat. He spent maybe 3 minute looking at the dog. He could not tell what the rash was without running test. He left . About 20 minutes latter the nurse came back with a estimate of $ 756.00 The nurse starting going what he wanted to do . He was recommending injection, shampoos, a dental cleaning, blood test, thyroid test etc. I hit the roof . About 5 minutes latter the so called vet came back and asked what the problem was. I asked him " where he got his Vet Degree." and whether he used to work a Jiffy Lube. He left and would revise his treatment. The nurse came back with a revised estimate of $ 394. At this point I realize I am in deep trouble with these crooks. At no point did he identify wether the rash was fungal or reaction to something . The nurse left again with a revised bill for 124.00 for test that would not be back to Tuesday at the earliest. It was the long weekend and I was getting quite concerned that I would not be able to find another vet . I just left . Luckily I was able to get her in Seven Hill pet Hospital in Henderson. The vet saw her right away and said in was a fungal infection that probably was a result of her age. They gave her injections for both her rash and arthritis . The cost was 297. I was not worried about the money . I was concerned to make her comfortable in her old age. 2 day latter thew medication and pills ARE WORKING. The rash is going away and the Arthritis is better.
I am 56 years of age and have dogs all my life. I have gone to Vets across Canada and the United States. Banfield is THE BIGGEST BUNCH OF CROOKS I HAVE EVER SEEN. I will never set foot in a Pet-smart again.
