From the entry gate of Dell building in Domlur, Bangalore I boarded an autoricksaw to go to Carlton towers. After 3 to 5 minutes I reached my destination. I was shocked to see that the digital fare meter installed in the vehicle read 'Rs 33.50.' I did not want to give that much just for a distance less than 1km. I disputed with the impolite driver . I said I will give him only Rs 14.00, the minimum charge for the first one kilometer travelled. I had only Rs 50 note. I gave him the smallest change I had, Rs 50 note. The robber(the driver) drove away with my money. I wanted to note down the vehicle number to register a complaint, since also this is the second time this has happened to me. But I could'nt read the numbers because they were written in Kanadda.
It is known to all that auto drivers in Bangalore have formed a mafia of robbers conveniently with the help of fare meter manufacturers and with the apathy of the Government.
Unforunately, for me and all commuters, it is not convenient.
