recent attempt to extort late charges
The BAC/Countrywide transition has been fraught with difficulties. In May the first admitted transition phase, I received a delinquency notice even though my mortgage payment was set up as automatic. The customer service rep laughingly said "thousands of those went out mistakenly, just ignore it. Your account is current. Well things like this happen. Now my statement arrives showing a "mistaken" late charge. After considerable effort navigating a really stupid telephone system designed to discourage callers, I spoke with a CSR who informed me that she was a former Countrywide associate (read lackey) and that I had in fact incurred that late charge in November 2008. I told her I had not and that at that time automatic payments were being made and if an error had been made it was theirs not mine. She informed me that she was looking at her computer and it "said" she was correct--Now she's St. Joan. But the dear girl said she would send me hard copies. I still await said copies, but in the meanwhile located a Fed 2009 statement which did not show any delinquent amounts. I then went to bank statements which showed mortgage payment on 11/17/2008 (MONDAY). Please watch all transactions with BAC and or Countrywide carefully. As Huxley said, "he who controls the past controls the future." I am sure they will be able to provide me with statements which support their position, and if enough of their mortgagees simply pay the extortion, they should be able to make a reasonable dent in their TARP DEBT. I have contacted Attorney General Jerry Brown's office to determine whether this might not warrant another class action suit and hope he will look into it. While I doubt that lackey Geithner will have any interest in troubling his old cronies, Perhaps Eric Holder might. Hold their feet to the fire.
