The mortgage department is staffed by morons
The mortgage department is staffed by morons. Extreme delays in processing and redundant requests for information they already had causing me to loose my bid on a home and quit my job.

What they have done, is totally unethical
I have had a credit card with Bank of America for several years with no problem. Recently, my interest rate was increased with a credit line of $21, 500, plus large minimum payments. When I received my September statement, I paid it off in the full amount which was posted to my account 2 days before the due date. I just received an October statement charging me periodic finance charge of $42.76. I called customer service, was on hold for at least 10 minutes, then transferred to a customer "manager" who spoke with a strong accent that I was unable to understand and had to ask him to slow down and speak more clearly. He said the finance charges were because I had not paid the account in full the previous month?? I do not understand this, it's probably written in the small print of the massive "terms" that I was too ignorant to understand in the first place. I'm going to send them my $46.76 but I can promise them, I will never use their credit card again and I will tell as many people as I can about my experience with Bank of America. What they have done, is totally unethical. Isn't it nice the bailout money was given to them so they could stay in business and continue to take advantage of their customers. I hope there are enough customers taking their business somewhere else that it will make an impact.

They are a nightmare
We lost our home in a fire the end of June 2009. Homeowners was great. They sent us our loss money fast, however, bank of America has been sitting on all our money since the beginning of Septemeber. There is always a different answer as to why the funds havent been disbursed, etc. They are a nightmare. The thought of having to keep doing business with them makes me sick. We are at the point now where we will go to the attorney general or whoever we have to in order to get our money from them to build our home over again.

Misled
We have been making partial payments on our home loan with Bank of America, due to layoffs and lack of work due to the economy. We recently spoke to a customer rep. informing the that our financial situation had inproved and that we could increase our payment at which time the representative we got did not speak ENGLISH very well at all. He kept saying reinstatement. A few days later we were contacted by another BofA representative inquiring when payment could be expected, a week from the day was agreed He gave us a new amount to pay $1, 348.13 to be Western Union transferred. We sent the amount that we were told on the 17th and on the 24th we received a phone call that our payment was declined, the representative was very informative, more information was given to us by her than any other representative we have spoke to loud and clear she let us know that they will not accept any payments until a full payment of 14, 515.13 our records show that your house is in FORECLOSURE. Just when our financial situation started to improve and we have consistently made payments, not full payments, they want to foreclose on a house we have been paying on for 18years! How does a person sleep at night!

customer service
I had agreed with Bank of America to make payments on my credit card.
I wrote BOA a letter informing them I would only be able to pay 50% of the payment.
I lost my employment and religiously made my payments.
I continued to make my payments religiously.
After about 5 months they called me and said I should stop sending in payments.
I was flabberghasted !

I subsequently stopped the payments since they told me to.
Subsequently, collection agencies started contacting me.

I have adapted a letter that I now send them registered mail.
It stops the telephone calls and they quit contacting me.

I am not encouraging anyone to stop paying their credit card debt, but if you are ill-treated like me I encourage to act accordingly.

Worst bank ever
I've experienced one of most horrible customer service after calling the Bank of America (BofA) toll free number. The rep made jokes about the payment I sent the previous month to pay a credit card balance that BofA never credited to my account, plus posted a $39 late fee. He said that live was though and should get over and send a "good" check.

In September, I sent 3 checks to pay my credit card balance (never missed a payment either with them or any other bank). I received a letter stating that they could not honor one of the checks because it was a cash advanced check issued by a financial institution from the same FIA group, what I understand. But, one of checks was a personal check for $8, 000 from my checking account (with more than enough funds to cover it) and the other was another cash advance check from another financial institution. Even though the fact that I sent 2 cash advance checks may have sent the wrong message, I don't have any balance at all on those accounts and was trying to lower my over all interest with a couple of offers, since BofA had recently increased to an insane 17.9%.

They are simply a scam artists
IM FURIOUS!!! Well I didnt want to open an account with this bank in the first place, but the lady said she could open a student checking account and absolutely get me a credit card even though i have never had credit, i then informed her that i would use this account for direct deposit. She said go ahead and give you payroll department a blank check. Sounds easy... Dont think so. As i woke up friday and checked my bank account to my surprise there was no money in my account. So I called customer service and the lady told me that since florida is soooooo over populated they have to issue a separate routing number for direct deposit. WHY? WHY? This is the only bank that does this in florida!!! Because they are scam artist! Long story short they still havnt given me my money and its been 4 days. ALLLLLL because this didnt give me the correct routing number! and customer service is like "we apologize" well so do i because when im through with this someone will be unemployed! What a great bank!

Run Around / Stonewalling
On 3/9 I contacted Bank of America Home Loans. The person who took my loan was Chad Harter in AZ. On taking my app, I explained that 4/23/2010 was my closing date and the reason I was going with BofA was because aprevious bank made a bad error that left a bad taste in my mouth so I didn't want their mortgage.

HE took my app, and I sent all the documents needed. I was assigned to Toni Ann Magadino in Long Island, NY. After forwarding her the documents, again, she was removed from my loan.

I was then assigned April Connolly out of Melville, VT. I got a conditional approval with a letter of conditional items. I supplied all these documents on April 1st, 2010.

My loan documents were not looked at until APRIL 16, 2010. That is a week before closing. It's incredible!

The week before closing, I received a letter asking for more documents. The day BEFORE closing, I received another letter asking for:

a) a marriage license (because I did not take my husband's name)

b) a letter from my post office that my physical address is the same as my POBox - ie, both were to me.

c) 20 other documents that would take days to get.

Why this stuff wasn't needed a month ago, I dont understand. I feel that they didnt have time to do my mortgage, knew that and stonewalled me.

My lawyer, in the business locally for 30+ years, said he's never heard of a marriage license requirement or a post office requirement.

I was able to, a day before closing, find another provider I have a business relationship with to write me a mortgage. I have excellent credit and financial reserves.

Bank of America wanted my business, and was willing to lie to keep my business. They've now lost all my business.

Beware of hidden escrow accounts!
Yet another BOA scam unfolds! We just found out that BOA opened an escrow account "on our behalf" to pay our real estate taxes and property insurance bills this year. Problem is: WE ALREADY PAID THE BILLS DIRECTLY OURSELVES! Yes, incredible but true! We wondered why our mortgage payments so far this year are being considered only "partial"? Well, guess what! Good ol' BOA had been applying a portion of each and every monthly payment we made to this mysterious escrow account, which of course had a NEGATIVE BALANCE since we had NEVER SET IT UP or added to it in the first place. Amazingly, they even think they are entitled to the "late fees" they are charging us since we "only made partial payments" on our mortgage! The gall of these people is truly remarkable. Watch out, America, BOA is taking Uncle Sam's bail-out money and doubling it by using unethical business practices against us poor unsuspecting consumers. IT'S TIME FOR US TO TAKE THEM DOWN! REMOVE ALL OF YOUR MONEY FROM ANY ACCOUNT AFFILIATED WITH BANK OF AMERICA TODAY!

Lowered credit limits
I am getting married in October 2010. I have been preparing financially by moving debt around and paying off as I should. I have never been late on a payment and I have been a loyal Bank of America customer with two credit cards, a checking account and an auto loan with them. I recently was helping out my sister with her debt so I had taken it onto my initial Bank of America platinum credit card. To align my debt properly I moved her debt to a different credit card company with my parents and moved my debt to a new Bank of America Cash rewards card (second card). In the process of the balance transfers I had asked Lisa Bird (approximately a week before I post this) to swap the credit lines on my credit cards. Not only did she not swap the credit lines specifically stating that I had debt on the platinum Visa - which I had demonstrated to her that was in the process of being moved - but she called out for both of my credit lines to be lowered! I received the letters today April 21, 2010 of these actions; with no notice on the phone conversation with her. This was obviously infuriating and detrimental to my financial position, both long term (mortgage loan when married) and short term (wedding expenses). I was capped out because of Lisa Bird's failure to pay attention to details. Moreover, I was approved not even a month before for the Cash Rewards credit card for that limit, and now all of a sudden WITH LESS DEBT I had become liability???? Today I called Courtney from Phoenix Bank of America and she was very helpful even after my ill choice of words. She was able to help but not put me in the position I once was and more importantly, should be in. If anything, I should have an even higher credit limit for controlling my debt properly (and of course having a high credit score and being a good customer).

As a side note, a separate online chat involving a salesperson Sara was chock full of misinformation about authorized users and credit scores. The same type of misinformation that could lead to very serious credit issues.

I will not rest until I am back to par.
