Visa Card
I have always paid my bills. Now I am getting a bit old and I do forget. I did all my financial business with BOA... ALL.
For years I tried to arrange that my credit card is paid on the due date with funds from my checking account.
I talked to a personal banker and tried on the internet. I can set up a procedure that $15 is paid automatically every month, but this does not avoid the interest charges when I forget to pay on time. Over the years I had to pay hundreds of dollars for various late charges. This is despite the fact that I keep my life savings in a BOA savings account. Today I called their 1-800 number to find out the due date to pay my balance in full. They told me it is in April (its March now). After digging for several minutes, I found out, that I was only 2 days away from the due date. They got me again, but I did pay over the phone, so no harm done.
Considering the low interest rates, I fear better keeping my money under the pillow, next to my 45.
Banking and Credit card is computerized fraud by design.

Overdraft Fees
Bank of America is designed to rip you off. I noticed i miscalculated the amount that was due to come out of my account so before anything could be processed through i went and deposited cash through the ATM. Thinking this would take care of the pending charges boy was i wrong because i deposited the money 23 minutes after there cut off time even though the funds showed available they allowed all 4 transactions to bounce incurring $35 fees for each one and states that even though it showed available the cash wasn't credited to your account for 24hrs because you deposited the cash after 8pm. How they feel like there justified is beyond me maybe instead of allowing the customer to think it's available they should not show it credited right away...BANK OF AMERICA is all about the money and sticking it to you however they can.

Escrow Account
BOA raised my house payment 36.00 a month due to the escrow increase (property taxes and insurance). This doesn't seem like much to most people, but I live in a small town, so I made a quick trip to the State Farm office & my local tax offices, where I dicovered my taxes went up 100.00 & the insurance 38.00 for this last year. So what does BOA need with the other 250.00 or so?? When I called them on it, I was put on hold for 45 minutes and they never came back on!!! Just think... what if they are doing this to millions of Countrywide account holders! I am in touch with the Attorney Generals Consumer Affairs Office (Wyoming) hoping for some advice and help. Good luck fighting the evil giant!

overdraft fees
i got cheated by the bank of america.
my online balance showed that i had a positive balance. and that is how i go about spending. when i saw that i had a positive balance in my account i went about my usual spending. at the end of the day i had a positive balance of about $10. the next day i opened my account and saw that i had a negative balance of $200. and it was caused because of 4 overdraft fees of 35$ each. i called them up and filed a claim and they reversed 3 out of the 4 overdraft fees. that same day i went and deposited $800 in my account. the next day i see that their are 4 more overdraft fees there even though i have a positive balance. their explanation is that some transactions didn't post to my account earlier and that is why those overdraft fees are there. so in total their are 5 overdraft fees related to my account even though i have a positive balance.
my complaint is that why weren't those transactions that caused my overdraft shown in the pending section of my account before. and how am i supposed to know that there is a negative balance if it doesn't show on my online account. they have all kinds of explanations for the overdrafts. but i have been cheated off a lot of money for what i believe is their fault.
if i have overdrawn firstly my card should not have been approved for further tranactions. secondly if there were any pending transactions they should have shown in my pending section of my account. because of this i have been charged over a $170 in overdraft fees for something that was not my fault.
why do they have the online account feature if it is not accurate. they should atleast warn the customer befre hand that the online account is not accurate. i was not made aware of any such mishappenings. i don't know what to do now. i'm broke and no money to eat.

Fraudulent Fees
I have been a bofa customer for 17 years now, with some fraudulent charges on my account that were always quickly resolved when I called. (Wonder how many times other people were charged that maybe didn't notice like I did?)This time was the last straw, though, and I have contacted the Federal Reserve. I recently deposited my income tax return money to my account. A few days later, I transferred some of it to my savings account via online banking, knowing I had overdraft protection in case anything came out of my checking. A few days later, I received 3 overdraft charges! I promptly contacted bofa, and the 3 people I talked to agreed that the charges didn't make sense and would transfer me to the correct call center so this would be fixed. Then I got diconnected and their call centers were closed. So I called back today (3-11-10), and was transferred multiple times before they finally came to the conclusion that they were keeping my $105 worth of fees and that they were right! Really!?!?? They say because I transferred it out of my checking account, it was no longer in there, and it hadn't posted to my savings account yet (even though my online banking confirmed that it was), so it was not available there. Where then, may I ask, WAS it? It's MY money, but it's somehow out in "limbo-land" where it's not available to cover my charges? I have been in the wrong before (not had enough money, etc), and I have understood why a fee was charged. But this time, I had plenty of money available, just not "technically" available when I actually needed it. But I am the "little man" and they are the big banking institution, so how do I fight that? This is so frustrating!

property claims dept.
If anyone knows of a class action lawsuit against Bank of Americas property claims dept. let me know. Id like to be included in it.
Email is [email protected].
Bank of Americas property claims dept. is the most disorganized people ive ever dealt with. Everyone you talk to has a different answer on why they wont release money that is to be used to repair your home or business that insurance has already paid you for.

They just took me for $140 on this scam alone
Bank of America is basically keeping two books. The activity sheet that shows your "available balance" isn't accurate. You have to go to the balance history sheet to see "all charges". They keep a second column on this sheet that shows your balance including holds and authorizations which is a completely different amount than what you’re told your available balance is. Holds & authorizations should show up on your activity page as pending charges. They are basically hiding charges on your account to trick you into over-drafting. They just took me for $140 on this scam alone. I am changing banks today. I've never heard of this practice before. I thought only the mob kept two books.

PROPERTY CLAIMS
My home burned down on Christmas day 2009 my insurance company was Nationwide (awesome so far) unfortunately for me my mortgage is with Bank of America which means that all checks from Nationwide Insurance have to be deposited into Bank of America and all checks come from the Property Claims Department located at CA6-919-02-45 400 Country Way, Simi Valley CA 93065. Although they ARE an on-line bank they DO NOT do any transactions through on-line banking, email or anything except call or US Postal Service. I have logged in more than 24 hours of call/WAIT time, gone through hundreds of people at the call center, all of the managers are in meetings all day and would not come to the phone. They hang up on me and pretend they got disconnected. They are chock full of excuses as to why nothing has been done with the check that I sent them for $137, 500 from Nationwide Insurance on February 9th. I faxed a 13 page invoice on 3/1 for the $72, 000 and $14, 000 that I have spent from my checking account to get my house repaired and am requesting MY MONEY FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR THE REPAIR OF MY HOUSE, and they have done nothing. They think I am so stupid that I don't know they are stalling so that they can use my money and in the meantime my family is displaced, my home cannot be repaired and Nationwide has to pay my living expenses. All I am asking for is my money to fix my house and their bureaucratic system will not allow this to happen. BOA is committing insurance fraud by keeping that money and preventing me from repairing my home.

Merchant Services
I will never bank with Bank of America again. I will never use their merchant services and I will encourage everyone I know to find other banks. In all honesty I have felt this way for a long time. Keep in mind, that it’s been middle class, hard working customers like me who have kept B of A in business.
I used B of A merchant services from 7/1/08-1/31/09. I called a week or 2 ahead of handing over my business to a new owner to find out how to close my account etc.
I was instructed to call after business hours the last day to close my account and that my transactions would be processed by midnight of Jan. 31st.
I also encouraged the new owner to use B of A merchant services which I totally regret now. She has had nothing but headaches with their new system.
I received a statement for Feb. where the monthly charges were $38.88. The one transaction left from Jan. 31st was $47.64! Why this was not processed by midnight(1/31/2010), I don’t know, except it’s a great and easy way for the bank to make a few extra bucks on the backs of it’s customers.
Charging me for a whole month for this one ‘left over’ transaction is just wrong and while “legal†is not good customer service or fair in any way.
I called on 3/9/2010 around 4:15pm Pacific time and spoke with 2 women, the second, being Stephanie (ext. 2624) who was supposedly a manager. They both immediately refused to reverse the charges as “it was in the signed contractâ€. They were both broken records and repeated this at least 4-5 times each. I’m sure they are instructed to do this. I’m sure many people give up
and go away.
After about 10-15 minutes of trying to get some satisfaction, and not giving up, Stephanie finally agreed to reverse the $25 fee, “to end this conversationâ€. I do appreciate this, however, I still feel that the entire fee of $38.88 should have been reversed except for the fee just for the transaction (which is impossible to really decifer) but which is probably more like 4-6% of the total transaction. I would never have allowed customers to use credit cards on that last day if I would have realized that this was going to happen and that B of A would not consider a better solution without a fight.
I am now an aggravated customer but was fairly happy up to this point with the merchant services customer service. I put up with the fees and processing structure which again, are impossible to figure out and I think way too much for what you actually get. I did this to make it as convenient as possible for my customers. B of A customer service is good when it comes to questions and help and it should be for the prices and fees they are charging. It is not good when it comes to the bottom line – fees. There is no consideration for what is fair or a situation which the bank may be at fault. They have their contract and fair or not, they are not going to budge-even if it means keeping a long term customer.
People are really getting sick and tired of being nickled and dimed to death by big banks like B of A who are paying their executives and ‘higher-up’s’ exhorbitant bonuses, etc. I was just a tiny small business owner struggling like crazy to stay in business and totally over a barrel when dealing with the bank’s processing fees, etc. The system is totally wrong and should be reformed like so many of our institutions in this country.
If B of A would have responded to my reasonable request in the first place which was to reverse the $25 monthly fee, they would have had a very happy customer. Even though the $13.88 is really too much to pay for one $47.64 transaction, I would have let it go. They are actually making more money than I am with this one transaction (they didn't process when they said they would) as it stands.
I will be sending a copy of this letter to the US Attorney General and the Washington State Attorney General. I am sick and tired of the baloney that we as citizens and business people have to put up with to conduct business.
My first home loan was through B of A. I had business and household checking and savings accounts for years. I have an Alaska airlines credit card and will seriously consider cashing in my miles and cancelling it as well. Yes I’m sick of Bank of America. There’s really NOTHING in it for me.

Bank of America has worked out many techniques to pry the $ from their customers
Bank of America has worked out many techniques to pry the $ from their customers.
10 overdraft fees in one day amounting to $350 is possible.
They pay from highest amount to lowest to maximize the overdraft fees they charge while explaining to their customers that this practice is in their best interest.
The latest techique BA uses involves ATM deposits. Any deposit via the ATM that is less than $100 they will make available right away. They also make another $100 available as "pending". This allows their customers to think (mistakingly) that they have more money then they thought. The Customer then uses the debit card for another purchase. The next day the customer discovers as many as 10 overdraft fees the next day.
Bank of America has brain-storming sessions at the management level to develop new techniques to pry the $ from they customers while making the customer feel that they deserve it.
I know all this because my wife works for BA and has for the past 30 years.
Bank of America is the last bank to do business with.
