Bank of America Reviews

I really regret having an account in Bank of America
There has been a random transaction of deduction of monthly maintenance fee on my checking account. I work in US since last two years and my salary gets deposited in this account. Still, this monthly maintenance fee has got deducted from my account randomly 5-6 times. I called BOFA cust service multiple times and every time they assured me that the amount will be refunded and they said they will put a note of my conversation regarding this on my account. But the amount never got credited. I have lost more than $25 in such way in last two years. Again this happened in November 2008 and I kept calling customer service and they said they cant do anything about the previous amounts since it is more than 90 days on those transactions but they will refund the recent one. Again it was not refunded. Recently I called BOFA two weeks back and they said I need to go to Bank and only the Bank center can see the transactions and they can refund me. I went to the Banking center today and the manager kept telling me that it is too late now since it is more than 90 days she can’t do anything, She said she can not find any notes of my conversation with customer service center. Instead of sympathizing with me and trying to find out solution, she kept asking me the name of the customer representative and the time of the call. I have called cust service more than 10 times, Am I supposed to note the name of the cust rep each time? This is ridiculous. I mean, who does that? And if she does not have the resource to find the notes of my conversation with them on my account, what good the name and the time of the call do? The manager knew that whatever deductions have happened were wrong but she did not agree even after I told her than this is my salary account and I have been working since last two years. I was expecting she would at least say that the charges were wrong and she can make sure they do not happen again but instead she kept saying that she can not do anything because of the law of 90 days. I was not asking her to refund my money from her own pockets. Her attitude was rude and it clearly seemed she did not want to help or find any resolution. I finally asked if she can check the setup of my account and try to find if my account was wrongly setup because of which I am being charged the monthly maintenance fee but she said she does not have access to that and not trained to do so. And she was calling herself manager of the banking center. I was highly surprised and did not know what to say. Finally she said she can send email to concerned department to research this problem. She did not take my account number nor my name and since it was bank's closing time she got up and indicated that I should leave. It was obvious that she would not send any email about the research request without my account number and name. I had no choice but to leave. She moved on to open the Bank's closed door and I left. I am sure now that nothing is going to happen about the money I lost and I don’t know what to do if they again charge me the monthly maintenance fee. This has been my worst experience with BOFA. I really regret having an account here.

FHA requirements
I try to re finance my existing home loan. We are offered an FHA loan and we pay the $400 for the appraisal up front. The loan officer has no clue what he's doing and we wait 6 weeks for communcation. The appraisal says we have some chipping paint on our 40 year old home and it has to be rectified before we can close. We have had two feet of snow and below average tempurature and it's January. No body can paint a window in 4 degrees on an icy roof. I explain to these Texas folks that it's not gongto happen, and find tis is only a requirement on the FHA! Then Bank of America cannot convert it to a conventional loan as they say our credit rating is too low. We check it ourselves and their numbers are almost 100 points lower than what we pull of the websites directly. They promise our 400 returned, I hav not seen it.

theft of funds
I opened an account online with B of A. To do so they require that you deposit $25 in order to open the account. I transferred that from my Wells Fargo acct, and the transaction showed up immediately on my Wells Fargo account. A week later I was sent a statement saying my account had been opened, had a balance of $25 and here was my debit card. A few weeks later I made an $18 purchase. I held on to the original statement saying the account balance for about a month before I got rid of it. Three weeks later I got a notice saying I had overdrafted because when I made that $18 purchase, my account balance was $0. I cannot find the transfer anywhere on my wells fargo statement anymore, it just straight up disappeared from it and have no paperwork to prove they told me I had a $25 balance. They claim they have no proof of any such statement being sent. How could I have opened my account had I not deposited money!?!?! I now owe them $88 and they are threatening to send me to collections.

Bogus NSF fees charged to my account
I have been charged excessive NSF fees when my account had suffients fund to pay for my purchases. The bank has no explanation for this activity. On 2/2/10, I went into the bank personally and spoke with a personal banker and lodged a complaint for the banks theft of my money. They submitted the report online and as of this date they have still not returned my money.

Overcharged
I recently made a deposit in the atm machine at bank of america. I have been with bank of america since 2000. The check was my school tuition refund which I could have cashed at a Wachovia since that is my schools banking institution paid the 5.00 fee for not having an account at wachovia and then deposited the cash at bank of america. However, because I have never had a check held even in the past with my school refunds. I deposited my account and waited for it to clear on the next business day. When I check my bank account BOA had placed a 10 hold on my funds. I call and tried to inquire why this occurred and they said because we have the right to place a hold on any checks we want to hold. Meanwhile all my automatic withdrawals will bounced and of course BOA favorite thing will occur. They will impliment several 35.00 overdraft fees when in reality I do have money in my account. They are not customer focus and they are surely going to be one customer less since obviously their main concern is money. They wont have any more of mine. Once that money clears I am closing my account. BOA will no longer pimp me!

Employment Offer
Here is a good one. I was laid off from my last job due to a corporate restructuring. So I had to file for unemployment. I applied to a job with B of A and went through 4 telephone interviews and a face to face interview and was offered the job. They sent me an offer letter, set a start date, and setup payroll and benefits. During my background check they saw that I once in the past worked for Countrywide and that someone had put in my employment file that I "was not elgible for rehire". Seeing that I left Countrywide on my own for a position with a better company I sent B of A a copy of my letter of resigination and a copy of my exit interview, which stated that it was a mutual split. The recruiter said this should clear it up and he would get back to me. After a month of calling and e-mailing I got no response. Finally I heard back from the recruiter that they decided to go with an internal candidate and that they were withdrawing my offer for employment. What sucked was that since I accepted a job I had to report this to the state and my unemployment benefits were stopped. I asked B of A to send me a letter stating that the offer was withdrawn so I could get my benefits reinstated and they refused. What was ironic is that since I did not get the job, and could not get my benefits back I had to default on my credit card debt that was with B of A. Great business practice they have, offering a job to someone who is on unemployment, then withdrawing it, causing them to default on debt owed to the same company that withdrew a job offer because I worked for a defunct Mortgage company prior to them acquiring them. I hope this sheads some light on the type of corporation this is and how we are wasting our tax dollars helping them screw the working class.

Shocking experience
I am very disappointed and quite frankly shocked I have to write this comment.I was always bragging about Bank of America .Anyway I am as we speak taking my money out of their bank and closing all accounts. I suggest you do the same. They are changing. And it is to bad. In November 08 I received a disturbing letter that due to my credit rating my rate was going to increase on my credit card account.I had always paid them on time and at least the minimum balance so I was upset by this. I called immediately to argue the change I was told, after a long discussion that I could use my card and the rate would stay the same. I thanked him and moved on.Well with Chistmas I made some purchases on my card and to my suprise my rate increased I called to get this fixed and was told thaey could not help me that I used my card therefore I recieved the threatened increase. I told them the situation they said I was given false information and there was nothing they could do.Well there is somrthing they could have done. They could have acknowledged their employees mistake and said from here on out if you use your card it will be at the higher rate. Which would have been fair. But they refused and they have lost a Bank of America supporting customer. Sorry for them They had such a good thing going. Be wary of what they tell you get it in writing!!! They should be ashamed.

MLB,
I ordered a MLB Authenic NY Mets Baseball Jersey, Last Year, before the season started. I recieved the Baseball Jersey this year, but a size to big. I spoke with a representive incharge of Bank Of America MLB sports ware. She, Ms. Anita DeSandra, Phone #877-494-7755 informed me to return the shirt to her, and she will forward the right size. Anitta is incharge of the program. As of todAY I have not received or had my jersey returned. I also spoke with a member of Bank of America, Supervisor Myer, and she informed me I have to still talk to Ms. DeSandra. How, ever every time I call the number I get no call back...I have been robbed and violated as a customer to Bank Of America. I need your help..

Mortgage
I need some help! I feel that Bank of America is breaking fair trade laws and probably banking regulations preventing me from getting a government restructured loan that I applied for, and that they themselves qualified me for. They lost my entire tax returns 7 times. They lost IRS documents 5 times, they kept saying they have them but another fed ex would come requesting them again and threatening not to give us the making homes affordable loan. Now after 6 months they are again asking for our tax returns and we have 30 days or we will have to pay 10, 000 in back mortgage and not be accepted into the program. We are over a barrel, we have the proof that they are trying to force us out and we need someone to read the condensed version below. We have no other choice but to send this letter to everyone we can think of that may listen. Thank you for your time. Jim Cornelius

I signed up for the making home affordable with BOA back in July of 08. I was out of work and they sent me a letter saying that I qualify. I called, and I did after all qualify for the program which would drop my mortgage by 1000 per month. I sent in all the requested docs, and then was asked for them again. I faxed them and they didn’t receive them. These are full tax returns, w-2’s everything each time. 2 weeks went by and a fed x arrives with a letter saying we qualify and we are to make trial payments to BAC home mortgage in the amount of 1900. That’s better than 3000. We start making these payments and get phone calls on Sundays saying that they are missing information. I call and they say, well its not us that is missing information, it’s the HOPE team and heres there number. The hope team isn’t open so I have to call back Monday. They tell me that they don’t need any info and don’t know why I was asked for it. The next month they call and say there missing the tax returns. I fax them 2 times and mail them once just for good measure. 3 weeks go by and they now are missing an IRS form. I tell them that they already have it and end up faxing it in 2 times. They didn’t get it after 2 weeks more and I fax it again and mail it. 3 more weeks and they don’t have my tax returns and if I don’t send them in I don’t qualify and now I am on the hook for all of the back mortgage that I would have otherwise paid. I tried to use my Home Depot card to buy some stuff and it was denied. I called and found out that BOA had reported to my credit that I was de-faulting on my loan and was reporting it even though I was in their own program. Long story short they told me that its automatic in their system and I would have to call every month to get the last months report to the credit agency removed. I did that and I must every month. But my credit is still being affected.
Now back to BOA. We have been making our payments on time and we get a fed x saying that were missing some important documentation for our modification. Tax returns and such. More phone calls to all of the departments because the phone numbers that are on the letters they send are not the ones to call. In fact they are to other departments other than the right one. I fax 2 sets of our entire tax returns in and mail them too in their fed x pouch. I call 2 weeks later to check up. Lady on the phone says we have received all of our docs and it is going to underwriting. I get another call on a Sunday saying were missing some stuff. I call Monday and they say were not missing anything. 3 more weeks and I call to check. The lady says congratulations! Now just wait for the final docs to arrive, sign them and your all done. What a relief! I jumped up and down with joy. 3 more weeks and I get a fed x saying were missing tax returns in their entirety, and form whatever from the IRS. I call and argue and then send them again and tell the people on the phone that I was already told we were approved and waiting for the final docs. There is no record that anybody told you that they say! STRESS! Faxed returns again! 3 more weeks and I call to check. Now were in December 08. They have all they need and its all going to underwriting. Christmas comes and goes and we are missing more paperwork. This goes on like this until today when I got another fed x saying that I need to send them my entire 08 tax return, the hardship affidavit, check stubs from work ( I am still unemployed) a signed notarized copy of something else etc. I was on the phone 4 hours today trying to get somewhere. Finally they are helpful and figure out that they indeed have everything and they don’t know why BOA is asking for more. Keep in mind that if I don’t send in these docs they will deny us and we will be liable for all of the back modified payments in cash and the next months mortgage. That is 3000 plus lets see, , 1100 for every month since September, that’s right about 10000. The supervisor got on the phone and tried to talk me in circles telling me that I needed to send in the documents or I wont get the new loan. They have them and they are not willing to give them to the underwriter again. It is up to me to send them in again. I asked why I need to send docs that they already have and he said because they asked for them. All of these documents over 6 months they have lost over and over again and now that I am under a 30 day timeframe what do I expect? I expect to get a letter after the 30 days is up saying sorry we cant give you the new loan because we didn’t receive the docs. I have all of the proof of all the other times I sent things in, and I could have proof that I sent the new ones in too but if they say that they didn’t get them, I don’t get the loan, and have to pay 10, 000. All of this even if I can prove everything every step of the way. I need help, and I don’t know what to do. They are making it impossible for us to get this government program by continually putting up roadblocks that they are aware they are doing. I need HELP! I have all the notes of conversations and faxes to them over the last 6 months. Jim Cornelius 201-780-9062 [email protected]

Stay far away
Well I was told some information about the Process of there transactions (pending, cleared and fees). Next thing I know I do exactly what he told me I could do with the account and I was charged 6 overdraft fees for pending transactions and I had my direct deposit pending. Now when I call in they told me that there was nothing I could do about it. There rep gave me the all the bad info I could have and I am forced to pay the charges because of him. They do not and will not fix the situation that was occured from there rep. Watch out, there customer service sucks. Stay far away. They are not worth the trouble.
