Altering transaction dates to create overdrafts
Two months go Bank of America took $270 in overdraft fees when I was showing a positive balance. When I called them on this they reluctantly refunded the fees and informed me that 2 more were inbound that morning which a supervisor had to intercept. Last month when I was hit with three more fees I wasn't as lucky. I was overdrawn by $15 and deposited the money the next day. But I was too late. Because the deposit was made on a Saturday it didn't count. My purchases were made on a Thursday and Friday. 3 of them in the neighborhood of about $20 and a 4th for around $60. By keeping transactions in the "pending" purgatory they can clear the in any way they choose. The $60 transaction was cleared first (even though it was the last) so that the other three wouldn't clear and they got 3 overdraft fees instead of one.

I told Customer Service to remove the Overdraft Protection from my account. That if there wasn't enough money in my account when I used my debit card then just decline the transaction. Things were fine until about a week after Christmas. What they did (and are still doing) is such a convoluted mess that I have no idea how to sort it out. On three different days I transferred money from my savings to checking to cover purchases I was going to make. Two or three days after I made the 3rd transfer all 3 disappeared and were replaced by something called a "Misc. Adjustment" with that day's date, effectively taking away the funds I put there so that my purchases hadn't been covered and costing me a slew of overdraft charges. The strangest thing yet is that everyday, transactions would be rearranged from the day before and costing me even more in overdraft fees.

To date they are showing that I am over $1500 overdrawn with the lion's share of this being their overdraft fees. The way everything has been rearranged in their records doesn't even come close to the true dates, and it seems to change everyday! . I also have a deposit of $250 that's completely vanished. And you what? I don't know what to do about this.

Closed my credit card for no reason
I had a credit line of 12.4k this morning with BofA. A few months back my daughter (lives in Pennsylvania) had an emergency and I’ve been trying to keep my head above water since then. After trying everything else, I decided that I should transfer $$ from my BofA CC to my checking account and consolidate two credit cards; both of which I am over-limit. So, instead of HELPING me, Josh Brown (of BofA) says that they cannot transfer funds from my CC. Oh, and by-the-way, he closed/cancelled my CC so I have NO credit there now. I said, “So, I called you for help because I am drowning in fee’s and, instead of helping me, you FURTHER damage my credit by closing my credit card?”
Anyway, I’m frightened. Add to the stress, my husband has NO idea. He’s a wonderful, hard working man but he’s never had children so he doesn’t quite understand the panic a parent feels.
I am not lazy either; I just got over two weeks with pneumonia caused from working 90+ hour weeks. I have vowed to cut back to 60-70 hour weeks!
I am scared to death. I am not looking for a way out of my obligations; just help for right now.

Late Charges
I was 5 days late on making a payment on a $27.95 open balance. Bank of America charged me $1.50 finance charge AND a $29.00 late fee. I called about having the late fee waived or reduced and was told that was impossible. I immediately cancelled my account with Bank of America

Loan Modification
When I applied for a Bank of America loan modification they told me that I was pre-approved for four months, that the new payments replaced the old payments for the next four months and included all principle and interest.

Now I'm getting bills for the original amount plus late fees, noting the agreed upon payment as a 'partial payment.'

hold on account
Our account was placed on hold, which we discovered on a saturday morning only because our card was denied at a restaurant. After 45min on hold with customer service representative, we got no help. They didn't know why it was on hold and it looked like we still had all our money in our account (even though the automated information we heard first was that we were 800$ overdrawn). So we got told to call Risk Management. After being first disonnected with first representative, and sent to a voicemail that was defunct (after being told she was going to help me) by a second representative. I called Risk Management a third time. This representative was nice, but not anymore helpful than anyone else. He could not tell us why our account was on hold, only who did it. And that she, that one of THOUSANDS of employees at Bank of America, was the ONLY person who could take that hold off. And she was not back at work until Monday!! I was also told that there was noone else who could help me. That there were no managers there all weekend, and supervisor was going to tell me the same thing! Basically I was being told that there was absolutely nothing that they could do for the next 48hours. We were being penalized, being completely cut off from all of OUR funds, our money, our account, for 48hours, with no explanation, for NO reason! This is so ridiculous, so unnacceptable I was practically in tears by the time I got off the phone 2 hours later.

atm not giving me my money
I am a senior visitor from Canada to this area and went to a Bank of America to withdraw $200.00. The machine read my card, asked for my pin number, asked if I wanted a receipt which I did not get and then handed back my card. I was suspicious, so phoned my bank to check and yes, Bank of America had removed the funds from my account. When I approached the service rep I was made to feel it was my fault, and I was to notify my bank to lodge a complaint. I pointed out to the lady it was their machine, but as of Jan 1/10 there are new rules in place. I informed my bank and they said they had never heard of the onus being put on them, but they will do what they can. Please, any people visiting this country, to spend your money and help a recession plagued country, be very careful of this bank!!! Maybe, we should just stay home and spend our hard earned savings therre

Terrible customer service
I refinanced my mortgage through Bank of America. Both my first mortgage and my refinanced mortgage were both through B of A. They picked the title company Nat'l Real Estate info services to help in my closing. My sole responsibily was to pay closing cost to B of A, the title company and the taxes which were paid in my settlement statement. The bank and its title company informed me after closing that my first loan wasn't completely paid off. Why they both got me involved when I paid good money to have the title company take care of this refinancing. Furthermore B of A sent me a escrow overage check which just bounced in my B of A checking account. As I'm typing this complaint I'm waiting for customer service in the B of A payoff dept. "I'm sorry your call is very important to us please remain on the line until the next customer DISSERVICE officer can FRUSTRATE you!!

Country Wide Home Loan/Bank Of America Carrying our contract
Our home loan was converted over from Country Wide Home Loan to Bank of America. We have been usuiong their bill payer system for years. However, payments made within the grace period of our loan are being created as late payments even though they are made within the terms of our loan. Late charges have been charged to us. When we called the Bank Of America Loan Service Department we are told we have a history of late payments. Then we were told we were only allowed one late payment in the duration of our loan.

We proved payments were made ontime by taking to a local Bank Of America and faxed information to the Bac Loan Service Department. We have been told by Bac Loan Services that they are unable to see our account. There is no person you can talk to at your local Bank Of America Branch to try to resolve any problems with your home loan. You can prove them that your payments were made until you are blue in the face and the customer service, supervisors, and managers will tell you they are unable to do anything for you.

Then you are asked to send a letter to a place called coorespondence with a P.O. Box so you can not serve them a registered letter. Because you are trying to get your business resolved yourself, the next time you call that you have not 3 late payments but 8 now.

You take all the dates and match them to your bill payer and find that you are within the time frame allowed on your loan. If you check when the payment was posted it could be 5-7 days later. However the monies were taken out of your account the same or next day that you made your payment. Bank Of America states to you that they are using the date your payment posts and creating a late history and charging you late fees.

Now because they posted your payment late, Bank Of America wants you to use money tranfer to make your payment. You could tell them that your current payment has been made from bill payer and they can not see what is going on. They will not believe you made the payment.

Within this conversation with Bank Of America, if you are lucky, they may wave one late fee and promise it to you in writtging. Don'/t count on anything you are told because you never will receive it. Instead you will get a letter1-2 months later requesting you to fax or send them all of your records so they may make a decision.

All the while they are building a late payment history using the dates the bank posted your payment. You may be a faithful honest person who pays their bills on time and the one time you need a late fee waved due to your cicumstances you will be treated like a dead beat debtor who does not pay their bills.

Ofcource while they have you on the phone they try to talk you into refinace with Bank of America. What person in their right mind would want to bank with all of the discussion above? We were a Country Wide Loan bought out by Bank Of America.

We believe they are creating late payment histories so if you tried to get a home loan/refinace they would use it against you and put you in a higher bracket of interest because of your late history. Their tatics are good for them and not good for the customer or home owner.

In this ecconomy you would think that Bank Of America would be glad to have someone who pays their loan on time. If a customer had one discression you would hope your loan institution would work with you. Not Bank Of America! Because we have lost most of our equity due to a failing ecconomy and foreclosure rate is as high as one in four homes you would think that banks would not want you to foreclose.

We have decided to allow our home back to the bank and let them loose their money on our home. We do not feel it is worth all the struggle with no cooperation from our lender. Big Fat Cat banks need people to give their homes back so they can loose their pants. Maybe if enough people give the homes back they will figure it out.

The Banks can give their CEO's giant bonuses and we the consumer paid for it. Not only their bonuses but when banks could not show a profit on their stocks and dividends Americans paid the 15% penality fees. The reason most us do not qualify for home modifications from banks is because now they tell us "Our bank has to use disrcretion". It is just yet another form of discrimination in America.

Future home buyers beware. Bank of America will be your nightmare!

Customer Service
I have been a Bank of America customer for many years. Then, when I was relocated overseas, I suddenly had no more access to many of the online banking services. Apparently, if you do not list a US address, then you are no longer a valued customer. Nothing has changed about me except my mailing address. They had no qualms about accepting my deposits but now I cannot transfer the fundsto my son's college or to him.

Customer service is run by morons who give cut & paste responses that are ridiculous. Let's see: "please visit your nearest BoA service center" like where? in China? "Please call our CS number"...sure, at my own expense while I sit on hold for 30 minutes "waiting for a representative to become available." The best line was that since I have a foreign address, I am now an "alien non-resident" in my native country! I am not only insulted but absolutely disgusted that in a global economy, which encourages people to work in many locations, the largest bank in the world cannot be more accomodating with their "online" banking services.

If you are an expat or planning to move overseas - do not rely on Bank of America for your financial services. You will be left without being able to access your own money.
