I had a few checks I deposited come back to them and I paid for them and they closed out my account back in 2002. Recently 8/22/09 I was at the bank to make a deposit to my sister's account. As I was leaving I was asked by one of the tellers if I wanted to open an account with the bank. I was reluctant to do it since I had knew I had an account with them at one other time but I said okay to see if they would allow me to come back. The lady opening the account asked for my identification and put my info into the computer. I thought she would get a negative response but she said that everything was okay and continued to put my information into the computer. She gave me paperwork to sign and put together a new accounts folder for me. she had told me that she noticed I had an account with them before and I commented that I thought that I would have gotten turned down from coming back and was glad they would allow me to do so. She gave me an ID to use for online banking and advised me that I could update my info myself online. I had noted that the paperwork she gave me had my old information on it. but since she said I could change that myself I thought nothing of it and finished up with her by using my new ATM card to make a deposit to the ATM and was sent smiling on my way by the new accounts clerk from the front foyer.
So I am now waiting 30 days to "possibly" get my money back "if" they receive back a check they sent out to a wrong address on an account set up by one of their workers who it seems should have not set it up anyway.
Later on that next week I attempted to get online to change my info and was unable to do so. I had a hard time getting through to a phone clerk to get it straightened out and when I finally did I was transfered to another department for help and there I was put on hold for a while when I did not have time to stay on the phone. When I finally got to talk to a person who could help me on a day I could sit in front of my computer and do the changes with plenty of time to do it I was informed that my account had been closed out on the 27th of August. I was then advised to go into a branch to straighten out my money situation.
Now I really did not have much money but it was the principal of the whole thing that was starting to annoy me. I did as I was advised and went to th bank branch on Conroy and Kirkman which was the closest one to my home. They advised me that a check had been sent out to the address on the paperwork and that I would now have to wait 30 days for the check to come back and a new one issued rather than they just cancel out the check and issue me a new one on the spot making the one in the mail a worthless piece of paper.
