NOOK!
I decided this year to get a big jump on my holiday purchases, so that I could spread out the cost of Christmas. After a lot of hint dropping, I knew that my wife wanted an e-book reader for Christmas. I did a lot of research, and decided that I liked the nook best at Barnes and Noble. I even stopped off at the B&N in Billings, MT on a trip to get my hands on one, and talk to a sales rep about the item. We discussed it for nearly 30 min, and I was sold. She assured me that there were no plans for a newer nook model to come out between now and Christmas. So, after returning home and thinking about it a while longer, I decided to place my nook order on bn.com on October 4th, which shipped Oct. 5, and I received on Oct. 8th.
On October 26th, just 18 days after receiving my nook in the mail, I got an email from bn.com proudly telling me that the nookcolor was being released on Nov. 19th. It was slightly more than I had already spent, but I decided that it had enough features that it was worth it. However, after calling Barnes and Noble and dealing with TERRIBLE customer service, including a very rude manager named Daniel, I was told that, since it was past the 14 day policy, I couldn't return the item, even though it had NEVER been activated or used in ANY way. What kind of terrible customer service won't allow you to return an obviously UNUSED item so that you can spend MORE money on a different item??? I was planning on buying 2-3 more nooks for Christmas this year for others, but I've changed my mind and will now be giving my money to a real organization who's business model DOESN'T resemble the moral code of a sociopath!
