I purchased a 3 storey house in basingstoke, we had been, and still are renting a house nearby, we did not want to move in until work was complete.
I work in the construction industry, and the finish of this house was the worst i had seen, Squint walls, paintwork shabby, window catches not fitted, not a good idea if you have kids and live in a town house, faulty wiring, fallen roof tiles, plaster falling from ceiling, ceiling cracked at loft hatch, doors warped, uneven floors, gaps in floor to skirting, doors not closing, front door daylight shining through, tape showing through the paint, walls bellying out, etc.
When the purchase of the house was going through i put on the reservation form sold subject to snagging being complete., the sale went through jan23rd 2009 snagging still incomplete, My partner had been liasing with the Inept Site Manager John Cowan, i CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER SERVICES Tom Moody Contracts Manager, (waste of space)was sent to meet with me and go over the house, he wondererd why john cowan was doing the work himself as he was not qualified to do anything, he has no skills, in fact he made the situation WORSE i have written to the chairman which then got handed down to various departments. It has taken 8 months still not resolved, excuses after excuses, met with Jon Green Construction Director blamed it on a communication breakdown, the work that was required would have taken 3 weeks max to put correct . I asked for a refund of the rent that i had paid, i have a 4year old boy and they wanted us to endanger his life by stating it was habitable, the building control inspector for the local area said he would not have issued a habitation order until the work was completed, no refund, Would i buy again from Barratt/ David Wilson ? No i wouldn't Recommend them to LegoLand.I have gone through all the customer service channels (WASTE OF TIME) even the Chairman Mark Clare! Never been able to get to speak to him or meet with him, don't know what else to do or who to contact now, Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
