Bay Area Credit Service Reviews

Harassing phone calls to my cell phone
They have me SS number and our Business Name. This is suppose to have happened in 2002. They are charging it to my credit report as of June 2009. Very rude when you try to talk to them. They hang up and tell you to pay or go file police reports if you want too. They mock you on the phone. They have ruined my excellent credit score. It was in the 700 hundreds. What else can I do? They cannot even tell me when or where other than it was a ride to John F. Kennedy Hospital.

continual phone harassment
This outfit is still harassing me by phone, some days two or more times, and has been for months. I do not know why. I do not owe any company or person ANY money. Does anyone know how I can stop them from calling me?

AT&T bill
Boy am I glad my boyfriend and I decided to search the web as we were talking to the people who called us from Bay Area Credit Service! Although they have a "legitimate" website, when you search them on Google the 5th word that pops up next to them is SCAM. With this in mind, let me explain what happened... My boyfriend's mom received a phone call from (877)230-9773 asking for him, and so she told him that he would call them back since we live in our own apartment. Upon calling, the man that answered said that my boyfriend did not pay the final bill from our AT&T internet service last year (12/09), and it had been sent to their collections agency. When I initially heard this (he had his cell on speakerphone), I was kind of confused because that was close to a year ago and we had not received any phone calls/mail regarding this outstanding bill; although we had moved, we changed our address on everything and had canceled AT&T to get a new internet service. Not sure if we had paid this closing fee, we asked for the account number and he ignored the question, automatically moving to how we could go about paying this. He gave us two options: Paying the $186 right then, or not only paying the full fee but accruing interest on the amount until we did so. Being a bit apprehensive, and the bargainer my boyfriend is, he said he would pay $50 at the most because the could not provide all of the information he was asking for (account number being the most important). They declined his $50, but said they would settle for $101. At this point, the word scam started going off in my head. I got on my laptop and that is when I searched Bay Area Credit Service and SCAM popped up right next to it. I found this website and similar experiences came up. Although some were about ambulances, their "website" says they also do medical billing. My boyfriend then said he would like a statement sent to him before he paid anything, afraid of being "scammed", and the man on the phone got rather angry, almost yelling at some points asking "Why do you need a paper statement?? I just told you what you need to pay!!!" Finally my boyfriend told them he would call back and hung up. We immediately called AT&T, got ahold of their financial services, and asked about this incident. It did turn out that we had a bill with them, but the number to call this company was completely different. We ended up paying our bill with AT&T THROUGH AT&T, not having to worry about some random agency having our credit card information. At this point I started to feel kind of bad, thinking we were wrong, but I knew my gut instinct had to be right. Especially with all of the other experiences I found similar online. After looking around their "website" some more, I noticed the copyright at the bottom said 1994-2006, while their Privacy Policy was enacted Dec 13, 2007, voiding all previous privacy policies and giving them the ability to change these policies at any time without warning. I don't know much about the legalities of this, but to me it seems like AT&T may be getting scammed as well. This could have initially been a valid company, but was taken over or turned into a scam agency. Having AT&T give them bills to collect like my boyfriends may add to their "legitimacy", while giving them the opportunity to create false ones. Just my opinion. Hope this story (or what turned into a rather long essay) helps any of you who receive a call from (877)230-9773, to be cautious.

Request payment for paid bill
Bay Area Credit Service has sent to me several letters in effort of collect on a debt for AT&T. AT&T did NOT credit me for the equpitment I returned to them for a 300 U verse package. Aft theree month with AT&T service for u-verse making monthly payments of $128.90 a month AT&T wanted to be paid one month in advance. Then sent a fouth months bill at $178.90 for extra channels I forgot to go on-line to have cancell. Aft returning everything by UPS and submitting copies Bay area Credit Service sends a bill for $299.00?? I hv all of the billing statements. three months later AT&T sends a statement showing paid in full. OF which I made a copy and sent to Bay area credit service and toll them, should any negative information show on my credit report I would file for three times the amount which can be done in TEXAS. Sure enough...Bay Area Credit Service put a negative entry on my credit 6/19/2010 and Life lock sent me a notice. I filed 6/21/2010 to sue for $997.00

double billing
well this started with me being hired in my second job and on the way home i was jumped and mugged by a couple of gang members and some how or another i was in the hospital.well at the time i had a "headace" which after futher resrearch i found out it was a much more serious than that but any who.
when every thing was said and done i got the hospital bill which i was waiting for but never heard from them at all that it untill i moved to my new place, thats when i got a letter that was sent to my dad's place which he had given to me later that week, it was from bay area credit for the bill that i owed to thew hospital but with the collection fee of addional 200.00 plus tacked on.
i called them and asked why had i not ever resived a bill from the hospital while the bill was under there service? the rep on the line then told me they have been sending out noifations...but to the wrong address! like i said that "headace" i was saying about...it was a concustion! and for some reason instead of asking my relitives of my place of residents they asked me, and i apperently gave them a address but it was a combination of my two billing addresses i was moving out to and from! so how was suppost t o know they had been sending me out noifcation's? anyways long story short after some years of refusing to pay i came othte concustion that i should pay it small portiona if that but three months after contacting them resently to take care of the bill i resive a notifaction that i owe aonther bill for almost the same amt that the origenal amt was for. so at this point i was confused and so i called them to ask what going on? well the frist two reps were not helpful in anwsering me my questions and interupted me and hugh up telling me to call form one dept to another and the last rep could not transfer me tothe dept he told me to contact and he gave me a number to call i adv to transfer me but he had hung up.
seconds later after finding out i was hugn up on for the third time i desided to call the dept he instruted for me to call but heres the catch... the dept was closed! the duration of this was a hour...a hour and i got no ware...so my complaint here is there lowsey collection service.im in a collection dept my self of at&t but we have standards and were suppostot have knowleage of whatthe customer is asking.here i was just asking if this was two or one account and i dont think espellaily owe two accounts and i since i was not told of this other account i should not be paying for it and there fore should be entirly removed.

Harasssment
I can not believe This company, I am 65 years old and they keep calling me and I dont answer the phone so they wait until the leave a message come up and just sit there and breathe through the phone until they get tired and never say a word. That is so scary I am an old lady and you dont do this to elders. I will continue with filing a harassment case because this is unreal. I still have it on my phone and I am going to my lawyer to let him hear this unreal call.

Debt Owe
I received a telephone call in September 2008 from this company named Bay Area Credit Service stated that I owed $125.00 from a past due telephone from January 2008. I asked why were they just now contacting me now, how come they didn't contact me sooner. The caller informed me that they sent a statement to this effect some months ago. I don't recall a bill from them and would they send me another one. I informed the caller that I didn't owe them and they said it was from AT&T. They separated a past due amount, but kept my phone on because I paid the current bill. I am under the impression that I paid the whole bill. And if I did owe how come my phone is still on. (still on to this date). The caller said that they would not send another bill out, because they only send one bill to the person owing and that's it.
I told the caller that I needed something telling me that I owe this money and identifying their company. It could be a fake company trying to get some money out of me. The caller said that they were not sending me another statement. This company called again around March or April 2009. We went thru the same circle and I still have nothing in writing backing up what this company is stating.
Around August 2009 another person (a guy with a forien accent) called and the same thing happened again. The guy would try and out talk me. Said that they were not sending another bill to me again. They sent one last year and that was all that I was getting. I tried to explain that I didn't remember getting it. Too bad was what I was told. He said that I could look up the information on the internet about his company and that that was good enough. I feel that this company should send me information stated that AT&T wanted them to collect some money that I owe them. I called AT&T about this and was told that they separated a past due amount that I owe and kept the phone on. No one told me this until about 9 to 10 months later. I asked could I pay them and they said that they (the phone company) didn't know who had the account. I explained to the Bay Area Credit Service that I wanted to settle this by paying them, but I wanted them to send me something stating the information needed to let me know about this debt owe. That's all I want before I pay them anything. There is too much trickery going on the phone and internet, and I am just protecting myself. I want this debt settled, but I also want to know who I am paying and who they are representing. And they refuse to do this, but they want me to pay them what THEY said I owed.

Sophie Fink
My 96 year old mother-in-law, who is recently deceased, has beed inundated with calls directed to her daughter. We have advised Bay Area Credit Service that Sophie Fink is deceased; but, they continue to call and they refuse to state the reason for the call. They have now requested a copy of the death certificate, which we believe is none of their business since they will not disclose the reason for the harassing calls. Sophie Fink was in a nursing home for the past year and actually has not made any purchases, that we know of, for the past six years. Bay Area Credit Service has been totally uncooperative in disclosing the alleged debt to her daughter who is the executor of and estate that does not even exist and there is absolutely no debt that she could have incurred. They claim the law does not allow them to disclose the alleged debt. It is our belief that this mis bot a fraud and a scam that the state of residence of this agency should close them down. What ca we do to get this kind of action.
Thanks, Joseph A. & Regina A. Klein (SIL & Daughter of Sophie Fink)
