BBG Communications Reviews

Rip off
I lived in London for 20 years and frequently travel through Heathrow when travelling between the USA and Europe. On Sunday, October 17th, I used a phone booth. There used to be British Telecom booths, and I didn't even notice what company this booth belonged to. I needed to make a call within the UK, and used my credit card as I didn't have any chage. Today, my US Visa card called me to report 'possible fraudulent activity'. Three brief calls to my bank totalled more than $60. In the old days I would have used a BT phonebooth and paid maybe $5 total. I told Visa to cancel the charges, and I'm going to claim fraud when they send me the paperwork to fill out. I've sent a customer feedback email to Heathrow Airport, and I'm going to write to British Airports Authority, the company that owns and operates Heathrow. Their address is on the Heathrow website. I'm embarrassed, as a Brit, to have overseas visitors ripped off in this way. Heathrow Airport should be embarrassed too. There are lots of consumer complaints places and TV shows in England, including an organization called Ofcom, that represents consumers in disputes with telecommunications companies. Here's their website: http://www.ofcom.org.uk/ I'll contact the FCC too, but as this call was made from the UK, I think Ofcom is my first start.

Phone Scam
I tried using a pay phone at the Denver Airport to make a call to Omaha Nebraska when the call would not connect using quarters I used my card thinking it would be the same amount as what was asked from cash. I was never informed of the charges nor did I say I accepted them. That one minute call cost me $20 dollars. When I called the company to tell them I was not informed how much the call would cost I was told it was my fault because I did not ask. This is a complete scam. They deliberatly keep this information from the consumer because they know no one would finish the call. I will be disputing these charges when they go through.

Overcharge/ charge for no service performed
Calling from Marriott London Heathrow. They use this 3rd party vendor to allow credit card charges.

charges show up on bank statement from VAL FEE (validation fee) then later as enormous fee for unperformed connection of service in amount of UDS $50.25. I understand they will keep charging later even when disputed.

Ripped off
BBG Communications are an absolute disgrace. Trapped within departures at Marseilles airport, France I made a 2 minute phone call to a UK landline with my credit card from the one and only payphone (my mobile was broken at the time) to advise the person collecting me from my destination airport of my flight delay, due to the French Air traffic Controllers going on strike.
My credit card company have called me to advise I have 3 seperate charges totalling £60 from BBG Communications and they were concerened that they're fraudulent... too right they are, its an outrage that they can charge these ridiculous amounts and why 3 seperate amounts ? I will be disputing the charges but please beware.. they DO NOT DISPLAY charges and you will be ripped off if you use them... my advice to you is stay well clear.. better to ask someone if you can make a quick call on their mobile and give them some money for it.

Wrong charges
I made one phone call from the airport in Bali, Indonesia to Sydney, Australia. An operator told me that my VISA debit card would not work and so used my credit card instead, now I have charges on both, I emailed then to get it corrected and now they have put other charges on my credit card for calls that I could not have possibly made. I have had to put a block on my credit card until this whole things sorts itself out. This has turned out to be a very stressful time for one short phone all to home. Don't use BBG communications.

Better Business Bureau
Robbed by BBG as well. On my way to the combat zone in Iraq from Ft. Hood, TX with a brief layover in Liepzig, Germany. While in Liepzig, the only phones available were the ones in the "secure zone" of the terminal meant for US Soldiers traveling to/from either Iraq or Afghanistan. No carrier name was on these phones, nor was there any sort of "price per minute" on or near the phones either. Attempts to use an AT&T Calling Card on these phones proved fruitless, because the only thing they would take was a credit card.
Made a quick 4 minute call from Liepzig to Copperas Cove, TX and received a bill from BBG for $38 instantly. Four days later, that bill turned into another $80 from straight out of the blue. Wife contacted the Better Business Bureau, and now we're waiting on word from them to see what can be done to put BBG out of business...completely.

Overcharged phone bill
I was in Cozumel Mex. and at the Park Royal Resort. I had to make 2 phone calls to place orders for a business in the states. Followed direction on hotel phone for use of credit card to make phone calls. I made the two phone calls each lasting 3 minutes each. I was contacted by credit dard company to verify usage and was told each call was $36.00 each. I had no idea what the charges would have been if so I would not have made those calls. I feel the resort also should have had a price list on the phone to alert me to the price of these calls.

Unsolicited phone calls
I made 3 credit card calls from the Caymans while on a business trip and was charged more than $300.00. I work in the tourism business and do not see how this company can have the necessary local license to operate while charging the fraudulent rates. There must be a local making a tremendous amount of money with this business. I was charged than $5.00 a minute from a Blue box looking phone.
