Credit Card charges
This is a follow up of a complaint I posted about 3 months ago on a BBG Communications scam. I am pleased to inform everyone who has had similar problems with them that I have been successful in obtaining full refund of AUD$176. Go directly to you bank as I did, submit a dispute form, outling the complaint. Refunds may take a while as the bank has to do their own investigations, but in the long run it is worth it. If EVERYONE who has been scammed did this then the BBG Communications and others like them would be on their knees. I would like to add that I had an exact same experience with a different company in Italy totalling AUD$203. Once again I approached my bank and after investigations have received a full refund. Justice for the consumer.

Unauthorized billing
I recently traveled to Canada from Texas and my story is exactly the same as everybody else's here. I very briefly used the payphone at the airport in Toronto to call home and tell my parents that my flight was delayed. Most people said that there wasn't any price on the phone but honestly I don't remember. I made a call for a max of 2-3 mins, just long enough to relay the info about my flight and when I got home I already had a pending charge for 49.95. This is absurd.
I have called my bank but they cant do anything until the charges go thru and needless to say when I called bbg they cant see any charges yet because it has only been 4 days and I was instructed to wait for one week for charges to post in their system. Why do I feel that this is all a dead end. I am very interested in a class action lawsuit. These people need to be stopped. They are stealing. There is nothing on the phone telling you who is connecting your call so my advice is to use your cell phone or go and find change which is what I was too lazy to do and I am paying the price.

outrageous charges
Spent 5 mins max taling to my husband (singapore to Australia) as my Australian phone company SOUL had cut off my mobile phone at $300 after asking me for a $500 deposit before I went overseas. So, I had to use a credit card in a phone booth at Singapore Airport. NO phone charge fee structure was visible or available. $46 for this!!! Will be deducting this amount from my local telco for the inconvenience.

unathourized charge
I'm U.S. Navy and recently made a pay phone call while in port in the western pacific islands. The pay phone would only accept a credit card and gave no rates or company name at all. I took a $30 charge for a 15 min call and wrote it off as 'should have known better'. However, a month later i find $76 charged to my card from this BBG Communications for no apparent reason at all. I'm still in the process of trying to get my money back and will most likely have to cancel my card just to keep them from continuing to charge me without using thier services at all. Watch out for these guys. They're a bunch of crooks.

Terrible experience
Just spoke for about 3 minutes at Singapore Airport at the booth phone to Melbourne, Australia.. My God, it had cosed me Australian $ 39.50 for this. This is atrocious as one gets to know about this only after checking the credit card acc. and people get exploited. Singapore airport being one of the most busy and accessed one, this has to be taken care of by the concerned officials and necessary action taken. I never expected such a thing from a country like Singapore. They can also have a cost and time meter beside the phone to know a bit what is going.

Stolen money
in june i went to london for three months while over there i used a pay phone in brighton once to call australia and i used the internet at the train and airport a couple of times so im not certain when this happenned but i have been back in australia for about a month now and some one called bbg communcations london has debited my account for $77.64 which i cant understand because the internet was paid for as you use it. the only thing i can think of is the brighton phone call which was only about 5 mins long max i done know who to call and ask about this injustice. im a 19 year old girl worked three jobs to get over to england just to see my family i knew overseas calling was expensive but this is really over the top and also the fact its been about two months since that happened if anyone can help or explain or get me in contact with bbg that would be much obliged.

Beware
I also called my family in China on 31 AUG from Changi Airport, Singapore. I did not buy the phone card thinking that that might be expensive as I might not have used up all the credits in the phone card. So preferred to use my Gold Visa Card. Just checked the account and to my surprise the total bill charged to my account is about US$80. Talk time would have been hardly 2-3 minutes.

Using the phone can leave you broke
I can't believe how many people BBG Communications has RIPPED OFF!!!
I made a call from KL Airport to China on 29/7/08, admittedly to a mobile number but I wasn't on the phone for very long. I have now found 2 charges to my credit card, 1 for $51.43 and another for $51.46. I am sure I only made 1 call, but even if I did make 2, very little chance the calls would have been exactly the same length of time, which they would have had to be to incur almost the same charge (within 3 cents or each other)!!!
I did think that the call charge might be higher than the cost from home (Australia), but not that MUCH!!!
There should be some sort of Warning on the phone (in multiple languages) so people know how much it will cost them! Never again will a use a phone at the airport, especially if I ever see BBG COMMUNICATIONS!!!

Charge ridiculous money on a local call
I made a phone call to Durham (919 682 3XX0) at Los Angles airport on Aug 21st 2008 when I do transfer to Durham. I used my credit card to pay the cost of phone call on a pay phone located near McDonald, close to Boarding Gate 54.
I dialed the number first, and I was told that this call will cost USD$1 / per 4 minutes (machine synthesized language). Then I heard some dialing sound that seems connecting the call. However, instead of connecting to destination, I was connected to a customer service line. A man asked me whether I need call 919 682 3XX0, I answered yes. Then the call was connected.
Today (Aug 28, 2008), I found that my credit card was charged for $34.03 through a company called "BBG Communications London GB". I searched Google and found many people are complaining about ripping off by this company. So I made a phone call to 1-800-576-2118 (found here: /URL removed/). A customer representative said they do billing for BBG Communications. They asked my credit card, and said they can refund AUD$ 13.61 to my card. I asked them to refund this amount to my card. But I am still feel they charged too much and didn't disclose enough information when I initial used their service.
Following are some information I got over the conversation:
Duration: 9:00 minutes (I definitely not make phone call that long, only 4-5 minutes)
Pay phone Area code: 310
AUD$34.03 Connection Fee and Permanent Rate
Connection Fee: AUD$10 (Never disclose this information before hand. After I dial 1-919-682-3690, it remind me cost USD$1 for 4 minutes)
Permanent Rate: AUD$2.67 / per minute (Never disclose this information).
They agreed to credit back: AUD$13.61 within 30-60 days.

Credit card phone charges
We were recently caught out by a missed flight in Stockholm and had to call to Australia and USA to resolve the flight problems.
We didnt have any local currency to call with and the only option was to use the Credit card, the other option on the phone in the airport. (No indication as to the price... not that anyone could foresee the potential charges one is about to be charges).
On our return home to Australia we found charges for 4 calls under 5minutes each to total $301... Holy Sh*t batman!!!
After searching the internet for this fraudulent company we realised there have been many ppl scammed by this disreputable company.
If you're ever in a hotel or airport NEVER pay for a phone call with the credit card, or you may find you have just unwittinly donated a substantial sum to BBG Communications Corporate coffers.
I have canceled my credit card and am pursuing retreival via travel insurance... TBA...
